Celebrate 8 June is #WorldOceansDay

World Ocean Day

World Ocean Day

“We celebrate World Oceans Day to remind everyone of the major role the oceans have in everyday life. They are the lungs of our planet, providing most of the oxygen we breathe. The purpose of the Day is to inform the public of the impact of human actions on the ocean, develop a worldwide movement of citizens for the ocean, and mobilize and unite the world’s population on a project for the sustainable management of the world’s oceans. They are a major source of food and medicines and a critical part of the biosphere. In the end, it is a day to celebrate together the beauty, the wealth and the promise of the ocean.” United Nations

The focus for 2019 is: Gender and the Ocean

According to the UN, people and organizations strive to build greater ocean and gender literacy and to discover possible ways to promote gender equality in ocean-related activities such as marine scientific research, fisheries, labor at sea, migration by sea and human trafficking, as well as policy-making and management.
If you are close to a coastal area and you have a business idea or run a project related to these issues or sustainable tourism join our competitions, and gain entrepreneurial skills and build a valuable network

  1. This is very impactful. The Youth Citizen Entrepreneurship is indeed a platform for both prospective and existing entrepreneurs to build a valuable network. In the end, to succeed as an entrepreneur is to keep striving to build a network of connection form like-minded people, to make new friends, to learn, unlearn and relearn.

    • This is great. We have the responsibility to protect and enhance our natural resources. The ocean is one of the great resources we must take good care of. We derive numerous benefits from the ocean.

  2. I know a lady who cleaned the ocean by retrieving flip-flops from the Indian Ocean. She would then recycle them into toys. I was so impressed. Our environment is our responsibility! Wishing you a fantastic ocean day.

  6. Apart from the ocean been a means for transportation and a home for aquatics also as projection of nature’s beauty, I never thought the ocean had other roles in our society.

I must say i am enlightened.

Its indeed a great thing to keep our oceans clean apart from being sources of food and medicine, ocean can be used as a source of income through promoting tourism. Tourists would like to travel to different places with oceans just to have that early morning fresh breeze.

Let’s protect our planet by keeping our ocean. Thank you entrepreneurship campus am really learning here I never knew if there is even world clean ocean day.

  8. We need to keep our oceans not only clean but health as well. Start off by not using straws. Then avoid plastic bottles. These plastic debris kill billions of marine animals anually.

  11. I see the ocean once in my 27 years old life, and that time I thought with myself, this is one of the most beautiful things that I’ve ever seen in my life. I was so amused that didn’t want to left there, but I had to. so of course taking care of oceans will be one of my interest too.

  12. This topic is linked with my idea. Oceans are home to aquatic life. Plastic is badly polluting oceans. The only way to save Oceans is to replace this plastic with bioplastic that will not disturb aquatic life

  13. I have never really thought about the future until Until two months
ago an announcement was made at our school about one girl. She
was seriously ill. She had cancer. A very aggressive form of it. The
doctors in our country did everything they could for her. Still she was
dying. Her only hope was the treatment that she could get in
Germany. She needed minimum of 50 thousand Euros to be able to
go and soon. The price of the human life. It’s a lot of money here. So
her parents started raising funds wherever they could and
eventually came to our school. Nowadays we have almost got used
to such stories because after the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Station accident the rate of cancer
among children in Belarus has increased 13 times. This power station is situated almost at the
boarder of our Republic and right after the accident the wind was blowing north and carrying
radioactive clouds in our direction So there are articles in newspapers, announcements on TV,
Internet about kids dying of cancer who need urgent help.

  14. The wonderful thing is that as we decrease the scale of economic activity, we actually increase our own emotional well being. That is because at the deepest level localization is about connection. It is about re establishing our sense of interdependence with others and with the natural world. And this connection is a fundamental human need.

  15. ” I began my career as an economics professor but became frustrated because the economic theories I taught in the classroom didn’t have any meaning in the lives of poor people I saw all around me. I decided to turn away from the textbooks and discover the real-life economics of a poor person’s existence.”
