The Youth Citizen Entrepreneurship Competition is an activity within the framework of the UNESCO Global Action Programme (GAP) on Education for Sustainable Development (ESD)

Greetings Message from UPEACE Rector

upeace-teaserDear Participants,

The University for Peace is honoured to be one of the official UN partner organization for the online Youth Citizen Entrepreneurship Competition. As the Rector of this institution, it is a real pleasure for me to sit on the panel of judges for such an important initiative. According to The Telegraph, the number of under-35-year-olds starting businesses has risen by more than 70% since 2006, new research has found.

Established as a Treaty Organization with its own Charter in an International Agreement adopted by the General Assembly in resolution 35/55 of 5 December 1980, the University for Peace has the mission:

“to provide humanity with an international institution of higher education for peace and with the aim of promoting among all human beings the spirit of understanding, tolerance and peaceful coexistence, to stimulate cooperation among peoples and to help lessen obstacles and threats to world peace and progress, in keeping with the noble aspirations proclaimed in the Charter of the United Nations”.

As part of this mission, we are always looking for ways to support future generations in the creation of a more peaceful, fair, and just world for all. The Youth Citizen Entrepreneurship Competition represents a unique opportunity to grow and inspire others with your work and contribute to this world we all aspire to, and so I encourage you to seize the moment and impress the world with a creative and innovative project that proves nothing is impossible with the right motivation.

Part of our DNA as human beings is the power that competition holds over us, as stated by one of the greatest minds of our time, Martin Luther King:

“…if you must use the power of competition, if you must compete with one another: make it as noble as you can by using it [in] noble things. Use it for a fine unselfish thing. Use it for human good.”

I urge you to find innovative solutions and breakthroughs for the benefit of humankind, to work hard at finding creative solutions because they are always more effective, more successful and, most importantly, creative solutions can impact the world!
Good luck and remember that great ideas can come from anyone, anywhere and that the world needs more entrepreneurs like you who can make a change though the power of their ideas.

Dr. Francisco Rojas Aravena

It is indeed true that the working age (18-49)years are the eyes and powerhouse of every countries economy, and peace can be achieve if this class of young people are economically engage.
But as for my county Sierra Leone,as a case study, young people fine it difficult to promote their personal initiatives due to corruption from above.
I am kindly calling on humanitarian organization to come to my aid in other to achieve a common goal that is making the world a peaceful environment for all through the Environmental Youths Empowerment Services- Sierra Leone(EYES-SL) You can please contract me by e-mail ([email protected])
Thank you Dr Francisco Rojas Aravea,we shall all work together to make the world a peaceful environment for all.

  5. Thank so must sir, peace is life without peace of mind
    life will not be easy.

  6. I very much agree to this initiative. Without peace, the world can not advance to a perfect state of cordiality where innovation drives us to become one on a common ground. Peace!

  7. To talk about Peace in the World, we need to teach ourselves as an individual the skills and techniques involved in the development of Inner Peace. We can be the change the world want to see in us and the change start with us, I mean Self Discipline. Self Discipline will bring peace to the World.

Self-Discipline: Willpower, Restraint, Resolve, Determination, Self-Control, Character, Drive, Courage, Diligence and Endurance. None of these traits or characteristics occurs by accident, nor do they magically appear: They have nothing to do with luck or genetics. These traits are deliberately developed and cultivated by men and women in all walks of life in order to achieve greatest. When a person possesses these traits, they acquire the capacity to shape their destiny – through wisdom and perseverance.

  8. Thank you very much sir. Its an honour and i hope that great idea can come from me. Am pleased and very happy to be participating in this year competition.

  9. That is true sir, idea rules the world.
