Summary of your enterprise
We are a business training company, specializing in teaching Filipinos about saving and investing their money.
Impact of your enterprise on sustainable development
Only 4.6% of Filipinos spend within their means, and less than 1% have investments -- and that is mostly because our country has low financial literacy. Since inception in 2010, Biz Whiz has educated thousands of Filipinos on personal finance and investing, and we even offer free one on one financial consultation for each of our attendees. We also do radio and TV interviews on personal finance and investing, thereby increasing public awareness about the need to save, invest, and create a sound financial plan for the future.
Sustainability and future plans
We give our basic personal finance seminar for free, and we charge for our more advanced courses. Aside from this, we have also formed partnerships with some of the country's leading financial institutions - such that we have an incentive to help our seminar attendees save and invest. However, we make sure that we prioritize our seminar attendee's interests above our own. Case in point - based on our free one-on-one coaching after the seminar, we have determined some of our attendees not suitable for investment yet, as they are still in debt or don't have enough in emergency funds. We are self-financed, and have been existing for 4 years. We want to expand outside Metro Manila and even outside the Philippines to teach our Overseas Filipino Workers, and we intend to do this by licensing / franchising our programs.
Your profile as an entrepreneur
My name is Estelle Ople Osorio, and I am the owner and Managing Director of Biz Whiz Business Training and Consultancy. I am 28 years old, and I am motivated by my love for teaching and my desire to make every Filipino financially literate. I was chosen as one of the 2009 Rotary Youth Leadership Awardees, and I am a multi-awarded competitive debater and public speaker, being a National Champion (District 75) for the Evaluation Category of Toastmasters International. I have also been interviewed on Philippine TV and radio about personal finance and investing, and have recently been featured on BusinessWorld's Entreprenews section for Entrepreneurs Below 30.
