Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Working Women Union
Impact of your enterprise on sustainable development
Its been only one year of establishment of KPK Working Women Union but it has organized its structure in 5 Districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa i.e Mardan, Peshawar, Charsadda, Nowshera and Swat. Although it was very threatening and risky to visit the districts like Swat and rural areas of Charsadda, Mardan where the extremists have their hubs and do not allow women to be part of any activity which empowers them socially or economically. But instead of the threats, KPK Working Women Union was successful in reaching the rural women and has formed committees for the follow up. Following are the achievements: Training of Home based Workers: KPK Working Women Union provides trainings and awareness to the women workers of rural areas, in which women home based workers are trained on their basic labor rights and importance of unionization for them. Under this project 150 Home Based Workers are trained through training sessions till now. The training sessions aims at improving their level of information about their fundamental, constitutional rights and making them economically and socially empowered women. We help to enhance the leadership skills of women from rural areas so that they can lead their local communities. Highlighting the Powerful Women Workers through media: KPK Working Women Union is connecting the women home based, domestic and factory workers with the media which can highlight them to motivate all other women like her to stand for their rights. For this purpose the interviews of women have been conducted by Khyber TV, FM Radio (Peshawar), PTV National etc. Informal Education: The home based and domestic workers of rural areas are provided with the informal education so that they can read the agreements for business with the middle man and city markets. Membership: 350 plus women workers in less than an year- a great achievement.
Sustainability and future plans
I am aiming to expand the geographical area of the union from 5 districts to 15 in the coming year. Although its very difficult to work under less resources and in the conflict affected zones, but I along with my team of volunteers are determined to empower the women of rural areas both socially and economically and involve them in decent work without any discrimination. Uptil now we have worked through the donations of our philanthropist groups and our volunteers as we dont believe that without funding we can not empower the women. Although we are planning to apply for the future funding sources to expand our work.

On May 2015 , I founded the first ever KPK Working women union which serves as platform for all working women especially home based and domestic workers who are deprived of their basic rights.I am passionate about working for the women rights because our province consists of community where women mobility is restricted and the religious extremists want to impose their own vision of religion. Working for the women rights is my passion, and introducing them to the political system of decision making is my aim. I am the member of Working Group Asia in International Humanist and Ethical Youth Organization. I have been placed under 200 women in international development by EU.
