Namayumba Parish Youth Apostolate (NAMPYA)
Impact of your enterprise on sustainable development
As a socially, environmentally and economically integrating Social Enterprise, NAMPYA adheres to the responsibility of having a striking impact on sustainable community development. By our art of work which involves aggregation, storage, marketing and distribution services, in addition to training in such areas as Production, agribusiness skills, family work and family savings, NAMPYA has managed to formulate a foundation that provides an enabling environment for small holder farmers to rewrite their future scripts for socio-economic growth and development. As farming becomes especially significant for the many farmers who must often juggle meager household finances to provide a meal and face budgetary constraints to pay school fees, prompting them to increase productivity in addition to their existing productive and reproductive tasks, the resultants effects include increased farmers societal status and income earners, while the cash flow contributes to better food security, health and education opportunities. Our flagship of innovation in our work falls under the use of Field Farmer Schools/Food hubs which have proved that marching together in work is marching together in peace. So as the use of technology today is able to respond to the needs and wants of farmers, the store will harness the marching-together-in -work effect. The methods of evaluating success shall include; 1. Established agriculture as a lucrative natural resource-based enterprise, averaging a monthly income of 50 dollars per household. 2. Improved retention of children in school 3. Improvement in health seeking behaviors. 4. Increased safe food availability without further use of land, water, and other related agricultural inputs. 5. Business plans that defragment our aggregation, storage, distribution and marketing services With a team comprised of the Executive, Extension and Marketing staff, were looking for a collaborator and capital injection and capacity building so as to contribute to a more vibrant and job creating agricultural economy.
Sustainability and future plans
Acting as a Cooperative, in addition to membership and subscription fees, the sustainability of NAMPYA is financed through the 4% token that is charged off every monthly sales volume and the small interest on farm loans extended to farmers. As the major line of business is Agro-financing, training and marketing, in order to create a more vibrant NAMPYA, our growth strategies includes: 1. Expanding the network of farmers to reach 4300 from the current 989 in the next four years 2. Sourcing for new supply contracts to expand market base 3. Embarking on value addition. 4. Sourcing partnerships to scale up our loan fund. In the long term, with value addition and riding on the Poultry Apiculture Cropping (PAC) system, all activities shall ensure farmers multiply their kits while making small contributions to NAMPYAs treasury as savings and commissions. The main thrusts of the PAC system are to base on the principle of self-reliance. Farmers shall undergo massive trainings on sustainability measures like family work and family savings, as the agribusiness skills will assist them to save their small incomes and then take loans. To really scale up and increase future impacts, the most urgent needs include: 1. The installation of a Cold Food Store (Process Chiller) for tomatoes. 2. The Construction of a Grain store with a drier and a moisturizer meter 3. A truck (s) - to ease on the stiff overland costs of transport involved to the distant inner city markets
