Your profile as an entrepreneur

I've always has interest in healthcare, I went to university to study medical physiology with special interest in public health.3 years later, I worked as an intern at a basic primary health centre in the slum of Lagos, Nigeria which served over 12,000 pregnant mothers and newborns a month. I noticed high maternal and newborn deaths. Sadly most were avoidable; Most was as a result poor health education,No show for antenatal care, poor physcological and social support, failure to present babies for vaccination,High pregnancy rates due to poor Contraceptive knowlegde etc Prior to Safermom, during my 2nd year as an undergraduate, I co-founded Lans and creamy,a custom merchandising firm which provides promotional items to SMEs and Corporate brands. Lans and creamy provided services to more than 70 SMEs. Products have been used by First Bank, Stanbic IBTC Bank, Nasco Cornflakes, Etisalat, Airtel,T.Y Danjuma foundation; to name but few.A brand which I successfully exited. I'm a 2016 Queen Young Leader recipient,St Galen Leaders of Tomorrow, TEEP fellow , IYN Fellow, Leap Africa Social innovator fellow among others. I was also named as one of 100 promising social entreprenuers to watch out for at the 2015 SOCAP in Sans Franscisco. I'm so passionate about Africa's renaissance. My vision for the continent is to see an Africa where exceptional leaders will help drive massive economic growth in Africa and proffer a lasting solution to poor health care and youth unemployment through innovation and technology.

July 7, 2016 00:36

Hi Adeloye, you got a sustainable project with much impact on pregnant women and child wellbeing.

you mobile services is much desirable at least in Nigeria where action is less taken until a case of child mortality become worrisome to the international community.
there are still untaped opportunities in the health sector which I think entrepreneurs like u and I should try and provide a robust solution.
how can innovation help to determine the estimate number of infants whose mother missed vaccines within a time interval?; and what type of vaccines administered did not meet desired target, monthly, quarterly,/ annually?
these are some development research questions that need to be addressed by entrepreneurs in Nigeria
