Impact of your enterprise on sustainable development

The main achievement of the project is that approximately 10 000 euros were gathered and with the money eight Estonian families were helped. Also, thanks to the attention that our project raised, 75 000 euros from the state budget were allocated for buying insulin pumps for Estonian children who suffer from diabetes. Furthermore, the project also hit the headlines in the media. More than 10 articles about the project were published in our local newspaper. In addition to this, it also reached the leading newspaper in Estonia and we were interviewed by various radio stations and TV channels. There were hundreds of participants and followers and numerous people were touched by what was done. People of all ages and social status were involved since there were participants from kindergarten children to some of our top leaders of the country. The project was introduced in various schools. The project's leaders got the biggest Estonian youth's award Guiding Light to give recognition to their activities and the effect that has been caused to the society. Moreover, at highly appreciated events Citizen Society Gala and For Children and With Children the students of Miina Härma Gymnasium Merili and Triin were given a special title. The project was appreciated by Estonian president Toomas Hendrik Ilves.

Sustainability and future plans

The project was fully charitable, no income was used to pay for the expenses. For organising our events, we had many sponsors, but in case of some expenses for which we could not find support we made use of the money given to us as awards. If we decide to expand our project, then we will have to attend a competition of projects to be able to do it. We have ended our project, but we would like to make it a non-profit organization. In addition, it would not be just an Estonian association, we would include all Baltic countries. That way, a message would be sent all over the world together we are stronger. More people will be involved in this action and thus, more children will get a better treatment. A non-profit organization with three different nations would have multiple gatherings and bigger events, including children's song festival. The idea of small effort, huge impact would be spread. The website would be multilingual and more pupils would be able to make their contribution.

Your profile as an entrepreneur

The project was lead by two gymnasium students Merili Ginter (16) and Triin Karis (17). We are currently finishing the first year of gymnasium. We have had some experience of charity work since 2014 when we started with a project helping children shelter. During nine months, we visited the daily care facility for numerous times leading different activities there. Also, we collected board games and books at my school to give them away at a Christmas party. We have also done voluntary work, we were advertisers for Estonian Food Bank events (collecting food for those in need) two times. In addition to the first project, we have organized two more events. First, a conference called "Outside the Frame. Its main purpose was to motivate pupils to take action and fulfill their dreams. Secondly, a teaching camp called "Smart Without Smartphones. We wanted to draw young peoples attention to the disadvantages of phones and ordered the participants to leave their electronic devices at home. Our time during a two-day hike was well-spent and everyone understood that they indeed had an addiction towards the Internet. For such a young age, we have been awarded with multiple recognitions. We have been given the biggest Estonian youth's award Guiding Light, two awards from Enterprising Youth 2014 and 2015, special title from Citizen Society Gala, Childs Big Action from Estonia ombudsman. We have always worked with dedication concerning every project we have initiated. Even if there are some difficulties, we always do our best and try to find the best solutions. We are innovative, we do not like to do those things, which have already been done. We are ambitious and determined, we like to push limits and create things that are unbelievable to have been done by a pupil.

This project was founded be very young schoolgirls, who were so determined to help children with type one diabetes. They collected not only the money, but they enthused a lot of people to make by themselves handicrafts itmes and think about the problem, what a lot of Estonian´s families have with geting insulin pumps for their diabetic child.
They collected almost 10 000 euros and helped 8 families. They influenced the fate of eight child for the better life. Really great work!
