Impact of your enterprise on sustainable development
BeyondTravellingCambodia, (BTC) has been operating since January, 2016. So far we have three groups of 30 travelers who have signed up for the tour both locally and internationally. BTCs project contributes to sustainable development that we care about such as clean water and sanitation, and also innovation for social change to betterment, as well as sustainable cities and communities. We reflected that there are many poor communities, unfortunately we are only able to support three communities at this time. For the first community, there are ten families, of which most of them are children. When we first arrived there, we were taken aback by their living condition. They live in a small house and get wet during the raining season with filthy water under their bed full of smell and mosquitos. For the first group, we were able to clean the village, teach the basic sanitation of how to live clean, and encourage them to drink cooked water. As a result, their health condition seems better and it makes them more productive. For the second community, we have introduced locals to do home-stay services as they will get paid. With that the housewife can both look after the house, and earn income at the same time. The last one isnt a community, but an orphanage that was opened by a local tour guide who used to be an orphan as well. Those kids need food, clothes, school material, transportation...etc. BTC had brought the traveler to inspire those kids through teaching them, cooking the food and more. What BTC has done so far isnt a perfect one, however we try our best to support them because they deserve one last chance from our help and contribution for betterment. Changing the lives of others could mean changing your life.

BeyondTravellingCambodia, (BTC) is an internet tourism platform that promotes responsible tourism. We mainly focus on three themes, To Travel, To Discover and To Empower. BTC created a tour with social impact, so beside travelling in the country, the traveler will spare 1/3 of the tour to work on the project site for helping the poor communities in need. 10% of the tour will go to empowering the locals as contribution in any terms, for example doing home-stay at the local village, and building the toilet for better sanitation. The reason that we are doing this is to introduce the travelers to do their traveling in different ways as they can change the lives of others while on holiday. BTC is still a start-up company that doesnt have a website yet, however we have Facebook Page, Instagram, Twitter and our network, especially the former travelers of BTC that helps spread the word. Our target audiences are fresh graduated high school students, Teachers, and Travelers because we believe that they are the most potential people who loves to travel in different ways. We base on the funds of tour in order to operate our project, so we need at least 15 people per group in order to operate each tour, and we need 15 tours for a year in order to break even. As we are a new profit enterprise, in order to sustain our project, we are working with an existing community, and we are building more networks with other travel agents in Cambodia. Hopefully, we can reach out more to other poor communities, and connect with other investors to strengthen ourselves. If we win the competition, then it will be another stage of success for giving us hope to do good to people.

BeyondTraveling is a great project that strikes the heart of development in ways that it fosters development in local community through funneling the commitment and effort of tourists in directly contributing to the community's economy. Only by promoting tourism through this project can we only make tourism 'whole'.

I love the Idea of this one! I think this would really give the tourism sector a boost. The Idea of adding social aspect in travelling is really a brilliant idea.
Kudos to the founder for having such a great idea and the passion to help those who are in need. In today's time, very few people are interested in helping the poor, which sets the founder apart.

I think this is an inspiring project. It shows that despite mountainous political issues which bring poverty upon the Khmer people, there are striving youths out there who seek to give a hand to their community, whether big or small. I hope that this project enlarges and inspires other Cambodians to reach out to their community by making small donations, educating the people about sanitation, speak of issues that should be resolved to better the community, or simply having a few activities for the people to enjoy. Best wishes, a commenter.
Thank Rithy
That is such a great idea! Love it! Good Luck :)
