Sierra Leone has lost 95% of the forest cover, since 1970. Deforestation is contributing to carbon emissions, degradation and loss of our rich bio-diversity, natural habitats and ecosystems. Deforestation is leading to increasing seasonal droughts, hot weather and loss of fresh water. Shifting rainfall patterns and torrential rains are causing flooding, erosion and humanitarian disasters. Forests are degrading to grasslands, farmlands are losing fertility. Energy poverty is the main driver of deforestation because 94% of the households use firewood charcoal for cooking. Rural youth and women farmers are the main agents of deforestation because they produce and sell the charcoal and firewood. They are also the most vulnerable to climate shocks because they entirely depend on rain fed agriculture and other natural resources for their livelihood. Assuming that 1 household burns an average tree (of about 10 years old), 94% of 1 million households in Sierra Leone burn 940 thousand trees per day, and about 343 million trees per year. Desert Water SL, a new company in renewable energy, has designed cassava-nol to help deal with deforestation together with the causes and consequences. Cassava-nol is bio-ethanol for clean cook stoves, produced from cassava cultivated on grasslands and other degraded lands by women farmers in climate vulnerable communities in Sierra Leone. DW will start-up in Sierra Leone and use organic growth to expand into the other energy poorest countries in West Africa. The rationale of the product is to build resilience and improve living standards by introducing a more efficient alternative source of energy for cooking that will compete well with charcoal and firewood. DW will support 2 thousand sustainable cassava plantations and one hundred community-based marketing agencies under contracts. The cassava plantations will be owned by rural women and youth, mainly wood cutters and charcoal burners.

Finding innovative solutions to the systemic challenges that stand in the way of smallholder farmers adopting soil health technologies, access to financing to buy needed inputs (especially improved seed and fertilizer), access to remunerative markets, access to good extension advisory services, and more effective farmer organizations to capitalize on economies of scale and thus reduce the high transaction costs that come with separate individual actions is the baseline and starting point to alleviating poverty in sub-Saharan Africa, where agriculture accounts for 64% of the labor force and in rural areas, where 75% of people living on $1 a day work in agriculture. CAPA believes we are still at a point where Improving soil health is essential to reversing the low productivity that has plagued Africa’s smallholder agriculture over the past 40 years. During this period, for example, the average yield of maize a staple food crop in Africa, has stagnated at about 1 MT/ha. Unfortunately, due to continual mining of soil nutrients over time, without sufficient replacement, Africa’s soils particularly on small land holdings steadily lost their ability to support strong crop growth. In order to transform African agriculture, farmers must start using fertilizers in much greater quantities than currently, and apply it in appropriate ways to ensure financial and environmental sustainability. The Governments of many African Countries and other actors have provided several solutions similar to what we want to offer but have no succeeded because they focus on one arm of the supply chain forgetting the other. CAPAs 4 stage plan focuses on the entire supply chain with an ambition to put over 5000 farmers through stage1 and 2 of their program in 36 months after the pilot with 500 farmers in the first year with a commitment to continuously monitor and change the plan if the evidence suggests that the approach isn’t working

Need: India has a vast healthcare system, comprised of Private and Public health systems. Despite which India lags behind when it comes to health indicators. One of the major setbacks with Indian healthcare system comes with 70% out-of-pocket expenditure. Catastrophic health expenditure gives rise to poverty which further deteriorates health seeking behaviour and overall health of the population. While both public and private systems of India come with various disadvantages; SHI aims to develop a system that focuses on advantages while eliminating the cons. Objectives: 1. Reduce financial burden by planning health finance and prevent catastrophic healthcare expenditure. 2. Improving health by providing quality preventive, primary, secondary and tertiary healthcare. 3. Reducing health inequities. Approach: Aim of SHI is to replacing Out-of-pocket expenditure with pre-payment. Purpose of SHI is to reduce the catastrophic health expenditure as healthcare of people who are insured will be covered completely. People will voluntarily purchase the insurance; and those who decide to be part of SHI will be covered for their healthcare needs including primary care, diagnostics, medicines, surgery and hospital stay. A system which is accessible and affordable; like public health system and focuses on advanced quality of treatment, like private health sector. A referral system will be implicated; encouraging patient’s first contact in primary care centre. Other services will be administered only when referred and needed. Apart from health centres efforts will also be concentrated on the prevention and promotion of health, to reduce overall health burden and suffering. Activities: 1. Infrastructure building or partnering with existing health providers. 2. Introduce and promoting membership of SHI by purchasing the insurance. 3. Plan the budget and administration. 4. Plan monitoring and evaluation body. 5. Design service delivery mechanism. 6. Employ human resource. 7. Connect providers and beneficiary to deliver health services.

The fact that well-equipped health facilities and clinicians are concentrated on cities further exacerbates this divide in healthcare. [OPPORTUNITY]: Nepal is currently transitioning from a centralized monarchy into a federal republic. Duly, the country has recently been divided into about 750 municipal units with increased fiscal and decision-making autonomy. This political-administrative restructuring of the country is a golden opportunity to create a transformational model of healthcare system in low-resource settings. [IDEA]: Directly deliver high-quality healthcare at a Rural Municipal Unit TO FORM A MODEL, at costs lower than that of the government Structurally, the Municipal Health System will comprise of a major municipal health center and several sub-municipal facilities connected to the major facility. The integration will be ensured through optimal mobile-based and internet technology and a network of Community Health Workers. The Community Health Workers will also work to coordinate care in the communities and patients’ homes. Thus, there will be multiple hubs and spokes at different levels that are integrated into one whole, like a dandelion. Functionally, it will have: 1. Expanded Care the available care at clinics including 24-hour emergency and inpatient care besides the usual outpatient care. Regular outreach clinics at selected venues and dates will provide basic clinical and preventative services. 2. Extended Care in the community provided by Professionalized Community Health Workers who provide care right at people\'s homes, and 3. Coordinated care between different providers and sectors through more robust and integrated referral systems.

The main idea is to operate an integrated farm which will combine rare poultry, fish, fruit and vegetable production. The farm will have a hatchery for poultry and fish, tree nurseries, and vegetable gardens. I have chosen these because production is minimal in Malawi and it can be a profitable enterprise if invested in. 20% of the poultry and fruit trees will be distributed to the youth in the neighboring communities for them to raise and earn a living, 60% will be sold off to generate income and 20% will be raised on the farm. Vegetables will mostly be sold off to hotels, restaurants and supermarkets. A youth cooperatives will be formed to where they will learn production and marketing. Start-up capital, in terms of inputs will be provided. The main objective is contribute to the economic growth of Malawi by specifically providing decent employment to the youth in the community, imparting knowledge to the youth to establish their own enterprises, contributing to food security of the communities, improving nutrition status of children in the communities, minimizing imports and maximizing export of the products to be produced at the farm. The main activities will be designing the layout of the farm (land already acquired), construction of poultry shades, construction of greenhouses, construction of staff houses, construction of fish ponds, borehole drilling, procurement and installation of solar power system, incubators, livestock, fish fingerlings, seeds and start-up feed for fish and livestock. Subsequently, the farm will be able to sustain its own production of feed, livestock seed, fish fingerlings and propagation of fruit trees. These will be sold, raised on the farm and some distributed to youth in communities around the farm to enable them be economically sustainable and with good nutrition and health.

Responding to the challenges of poverty, food insecurity and climate change in Uganda has been the main focus of development organisations since 2015. In northern Uganda most people are mainly involved in subsistence practices which coupled with their pressing social needs has resulted in most of them living below the poverty line. This has surely left a footmark on the lives of many in this area. Climate change adaptability has been sited as one of the forerunners in reducing the effect of this trend. Mushroom production which is a worldwide multi billion industry is still a cottage industry in Africa and yet it could be a practical low cost solution in promoting sustainable transformation from Subsistence to a commercial farming in the rural areas. Today cereal based crop wastes can be used reliably for this sole purpose in an innovative diversified technique of production of mushrooms. It still remains to be one of the most sidelined agribusiness in Uganda with very few people taking up this enterprising business as a private endeavor. However even for those involved, they are not effective enough in causing disruptive innovation that includes the society as partners. When will this industry probably come to life in Uganda? And what will the future be? Therefore Tugu Mushroom Farm aims at using a social-partnership model in order to bring about a harmonized change. It will offer an alternative solution that can be executed practically without affecting the financial wellbeing of those involved (the local farmers). Objectives Create opportunities for farmers to diversify and gain additional income. Make mushroom growing a household project and as simple as possible for easy adoption by many. Provide reliable supplies of low cost,nutritious and readily available food. Inspire the rural people and guide them so they can learn and make change possible.

My idea addresses the problem of many young people struggling to find inner peace, clarity and calmness in a society and environment which is changing with tremendous speed. It aims at establishing mindfulness as a social innovation by making it mainstream for personal development. As I was suffering from continuous psychological stress myself, I absolved a Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction course and have been working on implementing the mindful mindset ever since into my life. Already since my youth I have been interested in Eastern philosophy and spirituality, especially Buddhist and Hinduist practices. I am fascinated how the practices evolving from the fusion of Eastern and Western philosophies can contribute to improve mental and physical health as well as enhance awareness for nature. The online-summit \'Mindful Leadership and Entrepreneurship\' aims at supporting young people aged 16 to 35 to create a social impact in their work environment or communities by educating them about mindfulness practice. It helps young leaders and entrepreneurs (to be) to develop resilience when facing stress, to keep focus while overcoming challenges, to maintain a positive, open mindset and communication style. It also addresses teachers who are able to understand the content in English and can pass on the knowledge to their students in the local language to empower them. The program teaches the seven aspects of mindfulness - acceptance, (self-)trust, beginner\'s mindset, patience, non-judging, letting go, non-striving/being present - in animated webinars, interviews with experts, work sheets, and an (online-) community called \'Mindful Millenials\'. It shows the formal and informal practice of mindfulness and how to integrate those into our daily lives. It trains the participants‘ consciousness about the interaction of thoughts, feelings and bodily sensations. My idea is to store rain and flood water in aerated tanks during the rainy season for farming more especially during dry season. My village and most rural areas in northern part of Namibia every year, received rainwater in large quantities accompanied by excessive flood. Most of the time, the rains that cause these floods fall in Angola, then flow into Namibia\'s Cuvelai basin and end up filling the flood plains in Namibia. These floods in the northern parts of the country, often causes not only damage to infrastructure but also loss of life (1). Namibia\'s climate in rural areas is hot, dry; rainfall sparse and erratic (2). People only do agriculture farming during the rainy season from December to May and during the dry season from May to December; their fields are dry waiting for the rain season again. As a result, Namibia is known to suffer from natural disaster of prolonged periods of drought (2). My idea is to do agricultural activities in my field during the dry season. The initiative will educate the community to start agricultural farming in their field during the dry season in order to produce food throughout the year. If the nation can start using the country\'s resources at the right time then drought will be a thing of a past. Citizens need to come up with initiatives of producing food in the country because Namibia is the 141st largest country in the world by population. It is the 34th largest country in the world by area with 824,292 square kilometers (3) but people lack food because they do not engage much in agriculture throughout the year. Around the world, stigmas exist surrounding students who are forced to cope with learning disabilities. In Canada alone, over 35% of students with learning disabilities haven\'t completed high school and an additional 30% haven\'t completed a post-secondary degree. In addition, approximately 98% of students with LD feel that has directly impacted their education and school experience. Furthermore, the majority of parents with children who have learning disabilities feel unprepared and unable to handle their child\'s state. They also have witnessed or fear that their children have been bullied as a result of their LD and their poor academic performance. Interestingly, 96% of parents feel that proper teaching methods and resources can make up for the poor conditions facing their children. Brain Lab is the most innovative and unique approach to LD learning. By collaborating with specialists, teachers and students, Brain Lab will design adaptive curriculums that engage LD audiences in order to improve their academic standings and school experience. Through the compilation of data, Brain Lab monitors student performance and adjusts to the individual. It also allows teachers, parents and the student to monitor their performance and locate areas of difficulty. Brain Lab also provides students with fixed educational programs that respond to their specific needs, whether that be auditory, memory, attention, etc. By not only teaching but engaging students, Brain Lab provides a sure approach to challenges LD students face. Nigeria is among the countries with the highest Municipal Solid Wastes (MSW) generation in Sub-Saharan Africa, due to her population of over 150million, of which over 54% of the overall MSW composition are organic wastes such as kitchen food wastes, vegetables, garden wastes, animal dungs, poultry litters, etc. Presently, these organic wastes are discarded on unauthorized dumpsites and absurd locations in the neighbourhood or perhaps ended up on landfill.Consequently, this often leads to environmental pollution and loss of potentially recoverable valuable resources. Her citizens are often prone to chronic health problems from the contamination of waterways by pathogens and nutrients from human & animal wastes, high incidence of upper respiratory diseases. Also health problem from carbon black emission is a major concern and is most prevalent in the rural areas as a result of burning of solid wastes. The adverse effect of this indecent MSW disposal is part of the reasons why Nigeria records one of the lowest average life expectancy in the world, which is 47.5years. Our proposal to solving these frightening challenges is to produce and install Biodigester device in various households. This appliance will convert household organic wastes such as food scraps, kitchen wastes/leftovers, vegetables, garden wastes etc. to biogas which is used as cooking fuel. Each household is empowered to recycle their organic wastes to valuable resources – clean cooking fuel at an affordable cost. This initiative would encourage each household to safeguard their wastes with the knowledge that these wastes can be converted to valuable resources. Consequently there will be significant reduction of littered organic wastes and ultimately ensures availability of clean and affordable cooking energy in the future.Biogas can adequately substitutes the conventional domestic energy sources, reducing reliance on fossil fuel and firewood burning for cooking in most rural areas in developing countries

More than 50% of all medical students enrolled in Tanzania between 2011 and 2020 will not be practicing medicine by 2025 and they won\'t be captured anywhere as medical doctors in public health facilities. This is due to failure of government to absorb them, past two years at least 1,774 young doctors have not recruited. The cost of training one doctor is estimated at $25,000 (Sh 55 Million), Due to failure of government to absorb them; the loss was estimated at Sh 68.3 billion until last year. Tanzania’s doctor-to-patient ratio is pegged 1:25,000 (The Citizen March 20, 2017). IDEA ON THE SOLUTION The core of this idea is based on widening the act of self-employment in health sectors where it seems to be underexploited by the community especially health practitioners themselves. Three to five group of licensed doctors may organize and open new health centers/dispensaries/diagnostic centers with cooperation from private sectors/Health Insurance Funds for keeping dreams of young doctors, provide employment, improvement of health sector. Major stakeholder to this is Health insurance funds, as they accept working with these new open health centers/dispensaries, accepting their customers to receive services from these new centers opened by young doctors and refund them through insurance system. Also private sector/investors could use the opportunity by collaborating with these jobless doctors provide the funds and work under their companies/contracts that will benefit to both. For example in Tanzania it cost $ 6,000 to 8,000 to open a dispensary in area where it can serve up to 10,000 people, and salary for a medical doctor is $ 560 per month, if these 10,000 people will be attended at the dispensary and pay $ 4 per month through insurance funds, a total of $ 40,000 will be collected per month and able to pay “70 Doctors”.

Every month millions of women struggle to deal with issues surrounding menstruation. Sanitary pads are simply too expensive and out of their reach. They therefore have no choice but to use pieces of old foam mattresses, cut blankets, old and unclean T-shirts, leaves, mud, animal skin, toilet paper, bark cloth rags and even chicken feathers instead of a sanitary towel. A culture of shame and embarrassment forces them to keep silent about this practice which is responsible for a significant proportion of illnesses and infections associated with female reproductive health. We would like to provide hands on training to the girls and women in the local communities on how to independently make, clean and care for reusable sanitary kit so as to improve girl’s access to effective, sustainable, affordable, eco-friendly and safe menstruation products that are sufficient to meet the sanitary needs of a girl for more than a year.

Rahnumai believes that higher education is a right that must be available to all, regardless of their gender or socioeconomic class. It strives to address the problem of accessibility to higher education for students in remote or underprivileged areas in the form of an online platform. The main objective of this online portal is to save the time and costs students have to bear to travel to access higher education institutes in cities and save them the hassle of waiting in long lines at the bank just to gain access to submit the application fee. This is especially significant for female students who are unable to travel to other cities alone due to social barriers to their mobility. Therefore, Rahnumai aims to contribute in increasing the applicants, especially female applicants, in higher education institutes which may result in higher enrollment. Rahnumai’s online platform consists of three main components: (1) Online Universal Application Portal, (2) Universities Database and (3) Educational Search Engine. Students sign up to the portal by completing their basic personal and educational profiles. Once signed in, the students select the universities they want to apply to using the Universities Database and Educational Search Engine. There is no limit to the number of applications made to different universities and the portal displays deadline reminders at regular intervals. Once the student has submitted the application on our portal, we complete application process. This involves submitting a hard copy of the student’s application to the university on behalf of the student. We charge a service fee for this process. In order to gain traction for the online platform, Rahnumai has conducted 11 successful information sessions in 8 institutes, reaching out to more than 2500 students. We have also secured 60 student ambassadors to help us in our efforts to secure applications.

Communicative English Language Teaching is such an idea through which learners of English can be taught interactively with active participation of students in the classrooms and also in the informal settings. Here, it is needed to be mentioned that, in Bangladeshi context, classroom is a formal setting. The researcher doubts that whether delivering knowledge of English language in Communicative Language Teaching approach to all the learners of English in a classroom setting in a context like Bangladesh can be interactive and equally participatory. Since the teacher-student ratio is not a standard ratio (1:30) in Bangladesh in most cases. Hence, the practice of implementing Communicative English Language Teaching approach is a daunting task in the context of Bangladesh where the standard teacher-student ratio does not exist, rather the ratio is almost doubled, and in some cases more than double in all possible levels of education. Therefore, to impart knowledge even with the modern CLT approach of English language teaching is facing a lot of challenges, as ensuring of equal skills distribution of language is hardly possible by the facilitator, especially in a context where the regular student-teacher ratio is higher than the standard size. Therefore, my idea is to develop a certain way through which the modern Communicative Language Teaching approach can be exercised through the teaching of English language with the aid of computer or computer aided and software based technologies and applications towards the Bangladeshi learners, where the student-teacher ratio is higher than the standard one. Here, with this motion, the researcher intends to endeavor a probable experimentation of teaching of English language taking the aid of computer assisted language teaching (CALT) approach with marge to the CLT approach in the secondary level of education in Bangladesh ranging from class six to class ten using affordable available resources.

IN THE NAME OF GOD Charity Navigator purpose is optimizing the efficiency of the charities function. My idea is a way to optimize the charity given funds investment. Since the amount of money is so huge (410 billion Dollar America gave in 2017), the optimization of the investment results an extra fund that can solve many problems. I think the scattered management and independent systems and organizations that work on one subject, makes some losses inevitable. Suppose that 10 charity organizations work on one problem. If they work independently from each other, three things are likely to happen: 1) They invest in projects separately and independently that could be done conclusively one time for all institutions, like researches or travels or transportations. 2) The probability of mistakes that increase the costs, increases. For example, about the problem of hunger, what percent of budget should be considered for food, and what percent for education of pregnancy prevention and what percent for sustainable development. In some of the areas that extreme hunger exists, the people’s culture is to bear children’s as more as possible. And it is possible that a small organization, in lack of an overall solution, even make the situation worse. 3) small organizations do things expensive. Big money reduces costs. For instance, building one house inevitably costs more than building 10.000 houses for each house. For solving the problem with the scattered management, I suggest an organization that monitors the world problems and gives solutions. It is needed to be accompanied by a social media that each charity organization has a profile in that and through that, the organization can deliver the solutions to the charities. For instance, it can be offered in the social media and the charities can volunteer for the project.

The Refugee Assimilation Initiative gives focus to appropriate placement of refugees based on social, cultural, and economic considerations, as well as aiding them throughout the integration/assimilation process. Refugees internationally experience the disconnect between themselves and the native population of the country, caused by vast differences in culture. This disconnect leads to anti-refugee sentiment in many countries. Easing the experience of refugees involves locating cultural hubs in which refugees would be well suited and welcomed. Cultural hubs may include a dense population of a certain ethnic group within one part of a city, or a high percentage of a certain ethnic group within a suburb; the relocation process will also consider foster families. In order to further integrate these refugees, the initiative plans to address refugees’ occupational levels when determining locations. Refugees can have a positive benefit to the economy if they are located to areas which offer them job opportunities. Not all refugees are lower skilled workers. Rather, some percentage of them are higher skilled workers, relatively young, and are more well-educated, allowing them to benefit greatly to their country of migration. Along with appropriate placement, the initiative proposes a nonprofit program to ease the experience of refugees after settlement. Methods for this program include working with local governments to send volunteers to work with refugees, volunteers teaching refugees about cultural/societal norms of that country, language help, religious help, sports/recreational activities, support groups (i.e. trauma), aid centers, temporary housing, etc. This initiative’s long term goal is creating an easily adoptable multifaceted refugee program, through which national governments could handle their specific refugee crises more efficiently. The hope is to create a network between government entities and NGOs.

In Uganda, over 20 million people live on less than USD 2.00 per day (World Bank). Many live in rural areas with little or no access to formal financial services. Only 35% populations of farmers are served by formal banks . Yet, Savings and Credit Cooperatives, the informal banking alternatives provide vital financial services to the remaining 65% farmers –But in a fragmented, unsafe environment with limited linkages.Eco-Pay is a mobile \"all-in-one\" digital platform that is harnessing the power of mobile banking to facilitate delivery of financial services at the bottom of the pyramid of Uganda. Our solution;- is a low cost “ service-as-a-service” delivery system embedded with Unstructured supplementary service Data {USSD}, SMS and mobile money services which enables farmers to connect with Savings and Credit Cooperatives {SACCO} and access financial services via mobile phone. Our product — called MoBis, the Mobile Banking and Information Software — is a win-win for both SACCOs and farmers. For the farmer, MoBis provides remote access to finances, using the USSD/ SMS (Unstructured Supplementary Service Data) on their basic mobile phones. By using mobile money through MoBis, farmers can ;- (1) track their savings; (2) request a loan; (3) repay that loan; (4) deposit savings; (5) view a mini-statement; and (6) withdraw their savings. For the SACCOs, using the MoBis platform not only involves digitizing and systematizing their operations, but also trains their employees in the software, migrates all of their data onto a single platform, and allows them to connect to the internet, so non-local managers or government officials can monitor the SACCOs remotely.Eco-Pay also works with SACCOs to put in place anti-corruption systems, giving managers and tellers different degrees of access to information. Our platform is , user friendly, affordable and tailor made to suit SACCO needs.

The main objective is set up incubation centers capable of commercially manufacturing at least 2000 ready to wear clothing items monthly for retail outlets, fashion houses, brands and designers by engaging women (single mothers, widows or wives in extremely poor households) skilled in tailoring but not earning enough revenue to cater to their family\'s needs. Provide orientation to the selected women on ready to wear garment production utilizing standard U.K./E.U. sizes and partnering with a training institute to provide both the patterns and training on the production process and utilization of specific machines. Provide business and financial management training/support and setting up saving schemes to help them become better entrepreneurs and able to manage their business to become highly profitable upon graduation to their own facilities. Train the women on the benefit of crowd-funding and collaborative approach to running a business to save cost and enable them become future employers of Labour by replicating the model obtainable at the incubation center. Increase the monthly income of the selected Womenpreneurs from $50-100 a month to a minimum of $500 monthly (500-1000%) by the center generating a minimum monthly order of 2000 garments at an average production fee of $5 per garment. After deducting the 30-40% operational cost (depending on location) the balance $6000-7000 would be shared amongst the 10 women based on the ratio of work done monthly while at the center. The incubation centers would be the promoter of the manufacturing services, all additional volumes in excess of the capacity of the incubation centers would be directed to the women upon graduation from the center and establishment of their facilities; upon set up each woman has a potential to earn at least $1500 monthly by replicating the model and earning the monthly 30-40% operational cost.
