It's the end of the competition, I want to urge you to not leave this community without the contact (email especially) of as many other entrepreneurs on this platform. You never can tell what your further conversations may produce.

It's the power of networking and leverage I'm talking about...
Here's my email [email protected] looking forward to hearing from you.

Hello My Dear Friends.

Thank you all for your constructive comments, contributions, support, encouragement and motivation. I do appreciate your presence on this great platform that brought us together for over 3 months. Our ideas and projects are unique and impressive and should be chanelled to the transformation of the World we live in.

It can take just one idea to change the world. So, we should keep supporting and encouraging one and another in the implementation and progress of our ideas and projects. We can come in partnership to see to the implementation of a particular idea. Together, we stand and I believe in the spirit of team. We shouldn’t depart from the resilient entrepreneurial drive and spirit, this platform (Youth Citizen Entrepreneurship Campus) rooted in us.

I wish us, success as we go out to make our communities, nations, society and the World proud.

Congratulations to us, all!

WE MADE IT!!

BEST OF LUCK!!

Hello fellow passenger,

You might have heard the famous song "What I've done" by Linkin park. The lyrics have been beautifully carved by the late singer Chester Bennington. The song covers the ways in which our so called development has helped only a handful of the upper society members, whereas people are still living in poverty.

We have a great platform here which is urging super brains from around the world to come together and collaborate with their ideas and help make this world a better place to live in. You have been a part of this community and I congratulate you on your effort that you have put in.

Thanks once again and all the best for the future

Comrades,
In this fight for a sustainable future, what we need is innovation; something which is not necessarily new, but which makes us look at things from a different angle.

I believe this is one of the major motives of this community which we are a part of. Taking one step together hand in hand towards our goal is the only way we can achieve it.

So I wish you the very best in this endeavour of yours and hope to see you together in the new tomorrow

Dear Fellow participant,

You have done well thus far. Only few people will venture relentlessly into the things in which their instincts proposes because sometimes the goal appears too crazy to achieve, so they just retreat.

Actually, someone has said that "The people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do."

You may have seen this before but I want to remind you that it's true, only those who are "crazy enough" eventually get results.

Congratulations for been "crazy enough" (seeing beyond normal and following your dreams despite the odds)...

Best wishes,
Seth

Nice idea for women empowerment. Maybe the benefit of the incubation centre would be higher than that estimated just for 10 women. Also it is good to think of a marketing strategy for clothing items made by trained women, what about an online marketing platform? It is important that each woman has the ownership of the goods created so they are in direct contact with the client and feel motivated to go further. Good luck with this nice project idea!

April 28, 2017 22:29

Hi Omopeju,

Great to hear that you have found partners who also believe in your vision. That's a positive sign!

Hmm, I would personally start by speaking to the owners and women to find out what they think is fair. Have you tried that? Do you think that is a suitable approach in your situation?

Cheers
Yoke

April 27, 2017 19:11

@Victor thanks for the feed back. We would really need to change their mindset to enable them see the big picture. Without that it would be difficult to achieve

April 27, 2017 11:26

Is a nice idea trying to empower women, because they indeed play major roles in the economy. But you have to keep researching and see better ways to reach out to the right audience; changing is also needed before giving them anything

April 27, 2017 00:27

@yoke thanks for the feed back. Yes i have identified a training institute and the cost of training would be borne by the social enterprise by getting discounted facilitators or pro bono training. The owners of the centers would also provide the basic financial and business management training required by these women as they are mostly not so highly educated.

Luckily the pilot programme would be handled by the training institute and I am currently working on revising the project.

So basically the social enterprise (to be registered soonest) would be a separate entity from the owners of the centers. This is necessary to enable us scale up and replicate the project without the draw back of fundraising to start up. Apparently there are a few facilities available that would only need a little upgrade in terms of equipment. Once we have demonstrated a proof of concept it would be easy to get people to sign on as well as raise funds to set up new centers for the Women engaged in the centers. Revenue would now be shared in 3 ways but the bulk would still be going to the Women engaged.

So I am considering the following sharing formula. The social enterprise gets 10-15% the owner of the center gets 25-40% to cover operational cost while the Women get 50-60% of the total revenue. The added advantage for the owner of the center is that they could also have their clothing brand manufactured at the centre whilst they would have to pay the standard production cost set out but with the potential to earn additional money on the profit from the production cost to selling price.

Looking forward to some feedback on this

April 26, 2017 23:12

Hi Omopeju,

It sounds like you are making great use of your experience in designing outfits to develop your project, which is great because that means you understand your market :)

I have a question regarding the training institute you mentioned. Have you already identified which training institute you will partner? How much would it cost to get your womenpreneurs trained?

Thanks!

Cheers
Yoke

April 8, 2017 22:41

@Christina thanks for the feedback. Would review the proposal. I'm suggesting crowd funding model because operational costs may be too high for one person to bear and also when you employ people locally they tend to get very relaxed and not caring for the volume of work they are putting in. However, when the cost is shared by one or 2 other persons it lightens the burden also when you engage people and they know they can only earn revenue based on what they produce it would make them sit up especially when other people are doing the same thing or have done the same thing and were successful at it.

Cool idea! I just think that the sustainability part should not inlude any type of funding such as crowdfunding because it is hard to know if you could reach what you expect from a crowdfunding campaign. you say "use a crowd funding finance model to cover the operational cost of running the centre as well as guarantee return on investments and profits". I feel like it can be hard to know how successful it would be.

Thank you @Oluwagbenga Ogunsanya, the facilities owned by the women would be set up using the same model and equipment obtainable at the incubation centres. The whole idea is to create a model that is replicable and sustainable for participants and beneficiaries. The access of funds would be easier as the women would have a financial track record built over 6 months thereby making them investor/funding ready upon graduation

Thank you @ Sadaf Taimur for the feedback. The capital cost would be high hence the need to fundraise or identify other sources of funds. However, with the initial centre set up and the business and financial management training/support provided to the women they would be better empowered to access finance as we have a proof of concept which would be replicated by the women in the new centres. Thereby making the projects not just sustainable for the centre but also for the women to set up and sustainably run their own facilities

This is a wonderful way to economically empower women and make them earn and be financially independent.
Capital cost of equipment & centers can/may be a challenge, I would suggest to pitch this proposal to some donors/micro-finance companies to get the capital cost and then this can get sustainable with its operation as along with training, it will be manufacturing garments.
Amazing Idea!! :)

This is a wonderful idea, and so unique. This idea is going to bring back hope to the people of the society, especially to the less privileged in the society.
I hope modern equipment and materials will be given to the trainees after graduation, because, in order for them to produce the market standard(i.e UK/EU you mentioned above) , they would surely need help with more equipment.
