Explain your idea in details:

ELoi Academy is a platform that will provide unique forums for improving and upgrading level of education in Nigeria. ELoi Academy, together with the people and organizations involved with it, will form an immense and vibrant global network that will cause tremendous changes to the education system of this country. They motivate these students to develop their talents and to seek professional realization in their respective endeavours. Competitions have positive impact on education and on educational institutions. We would be fulfilling a need that will continue to exist into the future. Our company is going to be organizing annual competitions, basic programming classes, career talks, project exhibitions, and industrial visitations. The students in primary schools, secondary schools, and tertiary institutions are all eligible to participate. They are going to be the beneficiary of this great idea as we are set to work with them to identify and build the differentiating capabilities they need to outperform. This academy is going to help the students to navigate through the changes going on in the world education sector and give them the tools needed to survive and thrive. The registration is going to be in two different stages; School registration: This means that the school will be sponsoring their best students to the annual competitions. Individual registration: Under this section, a student can register individually, provided he or she belongs to a school during the year of application. A levy of 2000 is to be paid per candidate before any application can be made for our annual competitions. However, this compulsory levy is subject to further changes as it will be decided by the board of directors. These events are intended to be conducted in a pressure free environment, which is not going to affect normal school assessment.

Hello fellow passenger,

You might have heard the famous song "What I've done" by Linkin park. The lyrics have been beautifully carved by the late singer Chester Bennington. The song covers the ways in which our so called development has helped only a handful of the upper society members, whereas people are still living in poverty.

We have a great platform here which is urging super brains from around the world to come together and collaborate with their ideas and help make this world a better place to live in. You have been a part of this community and I congratulate you on your effort that you have put in.

Thanks once again and all the best for the future

Comrades,
In this fight for a sustainable future, what we need is innovation; something which is not necessarily new, but which makes us look at things from a different angle.

I believe this is one of the major motives of this community which we are a part of. Taking one step together hand in hand towards our goal is the only way we can achieve it.

So I wish you the very best in this endeavour of yours and hope to see you together in the new tomorrow

Dear Fellow participant,

You have done well thus far. Only few people will venture relentlessly into the things in which their instincts proposes because sometimes the goal appears too crazy to achieve, so they just retreat.

Actually, someone has said that "The people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do."

You may have seen this before but I want to remind you that it's true, only those who are "crazy enough" eventually get results.

Congratulations for been "crazy enough" (seeing beyond normal and following your dreams despite the odds)...

Best wishes,

Hi Oluwagbenda,

This is an admirable project for a 24 years old. I am wishing you luck in your project. Just a tiny question, everything you wrote is absolute necessities, but probably turning this idea into a working project will be absolutely time-consuming. Are you planning to start with simpler goals of the Eloi Academy or establish the Academy with everything you planned?

Sincerely wish you the best of luck,

Thanks @Koofi for your comment. I really appreciate!
Firstly, I would want you to know that this is not a school, rather, a foundation that provides most of the things (such as inter-school competitions, industrial visitations etc.) that are missing in the system of education of today in Nigeria. I have been to some schools, and it is quite alarming that, at the end of a term, the students of these particular schools had not gone out for any competition, no seminar, no career talk shows, project exhibitions, industrial visitations and among many other programmes that are making positive impart in other countries.
This academy would also be focusing on how to incorporate the use of technology into the primary and secondary education levels in Nigeria.

In response to your comment, it won't be easy to erect buildings in all the state in the country. So, we would be making use of some notable halls and places that are convenient, well ventilated, and students' friendly for a start in each state.
Secondly, some of the competitions would be held during school sessions, while some competitions and trainings would be during vacation. Thanks.

May 23, 2017 15:17

Hi dear Olu,

Your idea is wonderful , training students To outperform in schools is a good goal. But i would like To know if you are moving To studens schools for the competition or are they coming To your academy? When is the competition going to be held within the year, during School time or vacations?
Keep it up

Best
Jacmen K. From Cote d,Ivoire

May 23, 2017 14:52

Thanks @ Emmanuel and Charles. The students of Nigeria schools need to be motivated. The competitions and some other programmes that would be introduced into the educational system of Nigeria by ELoi Academy are not only meant to identify the best students, rather, giving every student equal opportunity to fight for something in life. Thanks.

May 16, 2017 03:28

This idea will really change the state of education in developing countries.
The standard of education in nigeria will really be upgraded if such ideas persist in our education culture

I will like to let you know that this platform (ELoi Academy) is not basically for identifying smart students, rather, giving equal opportunity to all students in Nigeria to participate in our annual competitions, industrial visitations, career talk, seminars, empowerment programmes and many more. Basically, we will be offering the students what are lacking in the educational system of the country, which are going to aid the improvement of the intellectual skills of the participants both technically and somewhat, professionally. Their participation in our programmes will enhance their problem solving skill, critical thinking and self-confidence in handling pressure.
You said and i quote; "I believe the purpose of the education system shouldn't be to train student who can calculate and memorize, but who can think and are human. Teach them to be a man, not a good device."
The question is, how do you intend to make someone think and be a man when he/she can't calculate and memorize? I don't really understand the basis of your argument, but don't allow your personal view of Philosophy blind others from the reality. Thanks.

Sir, I read your idea generally. I think this is about a competition and a web base activity to improve students level.
I have some recommendation for you in the matter of education.
I am from Iran. in Iran there has been and even now there is a education system with the aim to identify smart students. I disagree with this genuine breeding system. because it separate people from each other. an smart student must understand his/her position in the society since very beginning and also the other students. separating students to the smart one and the ordinary one is not good. The score in the school also must be A,B,C rather than numbers.
another thing that is more important, of course in my point of view is philosophy. Sir, you and me aim to eliminate poverty, war and ignorance from our countries. But this is irrelevant to the matter of professions, or how many the number of engineers of a country is. this is the matter of culture and philosophy. There were civilizations in the past that without technology, they had neither poverty, nor extreme social diseases. like ancient Greece. I believe the purpose of the education system shouldn't be to train student who can calculate and memorize, but who can think and are human. Teach them to be a man, not a good device. Sorry for my direct tone.
sincerely Yours,
Hamze Bagheri

Thank you @Sadaf Taimur. Your suggestion will surely be an addition to the already planned seminar and career talk for the students. If you still have somethings you might want to share with the foundation, kindly mail us on [email protected] Thanks.

Thank you @Cristina. The social media is going to be the perfect tool for getting feedback. I have already created an email for the foundation, that is, [email protected] So, if you have anything you think you want to share with the foundation or someone that might be interested in something like this, kindly mail it to that address. Your contribution and suggestion will be appreciated. Thanks.

Thank you so much for your contribution @OMOPEJU AFANU. Yes, there are plans for the participants. We will not even be focusing on the winners alone. All participants are entitled to something but the winners in each category of our competitions will enjoy a world class recognition from notable people in the society, sponsors/investors, gifts, a free tour inside or outside of the country every year etc.

Brilliant idea! There is need to improve the quality of education in Nigeria immensely. You didn't state the reward for successful participants. I hope you have a great package for them as that would be very instrumental to drive the competition

Hey! This is cool! Would suggest including participatory methods to listen to feedback to continue improving. I would also include a topic on feeling recognition and management. I feel like there is Maths, English... but you could take this chance to include a psychologic component.

This is an amazing idea! I would suggest to introduce subject teaching aligned to Education for Sustainable Development & Global Citizenship in order to make this idea more well rounded.
Otherwise, this is a great idea...
Keep up the good work!!

thank you so much sir for your advice. Although, I had it in mind, but I really appreciate the reminder sir.
Moreover, it is not a school, rather, a foundation that provides most of the things (such as inter-school competitions, industrial visitations etc.) that are missing in the system of education of today in Nigeria.

It is good idea and practical i would advice you impose venture skills to your school because most of university or collage they don't provide venture skills to students
good luck
