Slick Errand Food service
Explain your idea in details:
Considering the current problems faced in Africa workplace and its negative effect on economic growth, Slick Errand Food service was conceived to improve productivity and increase economic growth. The idea is to provide food for workers right in their office without a service charge. Research was done and it was discovered that in the developing world, a 1 percent kilocalorie (kcal) increase results in a 2.27 percent increase in general labour productivity. This means that food at work, which is often overlooked by many, actually plays a vital role in increasing productivity and economic growth. This is also with the understanding that the workplace, where many adults spend a third of their day, or half their waking hours, is a logical place for growth intervention. The objective is to increase food security, reduce the rate of poverty and increase productivity, hence improve Africa economy. The Approach is to develop a network and create a platform whereby the society will be given a helping hand to each other. We believe that the responsibility of making a nation great do not lie solely with the government, the people also have a vital role to play. All we aim to achieve is to improve the economy of developing countries so that we can make Africa great. Business Activities: Download the App, and place an order.
Expected impact of your idea on sustainable development
Without strong willingness to step out and do what no one dares to do, there wont be any history to celebrate. We are determined to change the economy of Africa, to be part of history; therefore we focused on food supply and security. Why food? There is a popular proverb in my native language Ti onje ba ti kuro ni ise, abuse buse translation- when food is made available in a state of poverty, then the effect of poverty is insignificant and can easily be addressed. Target: Workers. Why workers and not the general population? We choose workers because the labour force is definitely responsible for the growth of a nation or continent. How can we achieve our vision of improving the economy of Africa if the workforce is hungry? Research has proven that the brain consumes more calories; nutrition in the workplace can raise national productivity rates, while workplace meal programs can prevent micronutrient deficiencies and chronic diseases, reduction of sick days, sleeping at work, tiredness, going in search of food during break time, lack of money/savings, carrying heavy bags to work, frustration, fatigue and accidents. We often do ignore the importance of eating at work especially in Africa. Many are ignorant of the fact that good eating habit at work can lead to increase in productivity. Planned milestone: 1. Research & Development 2. Advertising & Marketing 3. Customer Service (Keeping Customers) 4. Product development (Staying Competitive)
Plans for implementation and sustainability
Africans dont have a saving habit. Most often, after the first week of salary, many staffs go penniless and have to borrow money to transport themselves to work. They end up not having money to eat, so they go hungry all day long. The idea is extended to help them have a saving habit has they can plan their feeding on monthly basis. Also, there is a loan service to cater for workers feeding whenever they have no money and the loan can be paid back when they collect their monthly salary. Therefore with or without cash, they will always eat all through the month and stay productive; to positively improve Africa economy. It is discovered that farmers lose more than 30% of the farm produce due to the poor storage system in Africa, also restaurant owners dont have a ready market and lastly, workers dont have a saving habit. So we decided to merge the problems and create a network that will work towards achieving one vision; increasing economic growth. The planned financing sources are: 1. Personal funding 2. Family support 3. Loan service 4. Seek financial support from investors (Angel) Revenue: The revenue will be from the advertisement running on our App, and Interest Charges on Loan given to customers. Collaborators: Me, my brother (A software programmer), and restaurant owners.
