Explain your idea in details:

The menstrual cycle is the regular natural change that occurs in the female reproductive system making pregnancy possible which begins from an early age of 12 and continues up to mid-50s. The period is the part of the menstrual cycle when a woman bleeds from her private organ for a few days. To maintain hygiene during periods, women generally uses sanitary pads or menstrual pads. These sanitary pads are usually quite costly. Besides, these sanitary pads are also non-biodegradable. Moreover, they are not available throughout the country. As a result, the rural women, having no other options has to use the same piece of dirty and unhygienic cloth during their period. These clothes are reused repeatedly making the women suffer from various diseases and bacterial infections. Further, the rural women also have to face a lot of complications lurking their periods. But, with this new innovative sanitary pads made out of jute and coconut husk, the rural women no longer will have to face difficulties during their periods. Drying the coconut husk, and placing it in the middle of the two jute layers and finally wrapping the whole piece with a piece of cloth can produce great sanitary pads. The rural women can simply manufacture them as all the materials are easily available in rural areas. Selling these cost efficient sanitary pads in the local market can solve the economic crisis of the rural women. Furthermore, employment opportunities will also be created. Not only will it help the rural women during their periods but also will help them earn a good amount of money. The cost efficient sanitary pads are Eco-friendly as well as it is made of jute and coconut husk and all organic materials. These Eco-friendly & Cost-efficient sanitary pads safeguards the rural women from infections and diseases.

Expected impact of your idea on sustainable development

The menstrual cycle starts at an early age of 12. The young girl after discovering blood dripping out from her private organ (generally termed as periods) gets so frightened and dont even know what to do as her parents or other family members never spoke about it with her. However, when she finally musters all the courage to speak about it with her mother, she just gets handed over with a dirty, unhygienic piece of cloth which she has to reuse as there are no sanitary pads in rural areas. It's really unfortunate to see such incidents prevailing in the rural areas of our country. But with this brand-new and innovative sanitary pads made out of jute and coconut husk, it becomes very comfortable for the girls and women during their periods. The easily producible sanitary pads are really cost efficient which makes it very easy for the rural women to buy it. Moreover, the elements which are needed to create it are easily accessible. So, the rural women can produce the sanitary pads simply on their own. They can further sell these sanitary pads ensuring a good amount of money solving the economic insolvency. These cost efficient sanitary pads are environment-friendly as well. Whereas the regular sanitary pads are generally non-biodegradable, the cost efficient sanitary pads are biodegradable which makes it eco-friendly as well. This creating employment opportunity for the 10 million rural women. With this avant-garde sanitary pads, the girl who dropped out from her school just because of the menstrual cycle can continue her education and pursue her dream. The future-Olympic gold medalist who stopped running after her first period will run again and achieve her dream. The world will see more achievers, more entrepreneurs, more doctors, more women with utmost confidence.

Hello fellow passenger,

You might have heard the famous song "What I've done" by Linkin park. The lyrics have been beautifully carved by the late singer Chester Bennington. The song covers the ways in which our so called development has helped only a handful of the upper society members, whereas people are still living in poverty.

We have a great platform here which is urging super brains from around the world to come together and collaborate with their ideas and help make this world a better place to live in. You have been a part of this community and I congratulate you on your effort that you have put in.

Thanks once again and all the best for the future

Comrades,
In this fight for a sustainable future, what we need is innovation; something which is not necessarily new, but which makes us look at things from a different angle.

I believe this is one of the major motives of this community which we are a part of. Taking one step together hand in hand towards our goal is the only way we can achieve it.

So I wish you the very best in this endeavour of yours and hope to see you together in the new tomorrow

Hello,
Being a part of India's well-known Entrepreneurship Cell of the most prestigious engineering college in India, I have interacted with many startup enthusiasts, have got to know how they think and what are some qualities that set them apart from the ones who are not able to see their idea through. Reading through your idea, I have realised that your idea has that spark which can help it become a successful venture. Coupled with its aim to help the society achieve its goals sustainably, your idea can be something quite helpful for the same.

But before it's implementation, you need to do a "premortem" check on how it can fail. This would prepare you for any uncalled-for circumstances and help you prepare for them accordingly.

Lastly, I would like you to have a look at our idea, GreenSpace, and share your views about the same.

Regards,
Team GreenSpace.

I would really appreciate if you could go through my idea as well(follow this link https://www.entrepreneurship-campus.org/ideas/12/5961/comments). Maybe not all the actions are fair. Some participants copies the same message and paste it to all ideas. I just do marketing. Again, I am sorry if this message disturbed you.

Hello Abul!

Your idea is a nice one and I admire your passion for Community Services. You have great points in the cost fluctuation of the Sanitary Pads sold and their non-biodegradablilty. Your idea of making one through coconut husk is an innovative idea and will be cost-effective, as it scales up employment chances.
I have two questions for you.
1. Coconut husk, being organic (Nice), what is it's hygienic level to be an alternative to the inorganic?
2. Do you have in mind of extending your idea to African Countries?

I wish you success and you can stop by on my idea to add your contribution.

Best of Luck!

August 11, 2017 02:07

Hi,
This is a very good idea, it will do a lof good for the community you're targeting.
Just a question though, how accessible will this service be?considering that you're focusing on the rural women think about price too.

I wish you all the best.

Hi there,

I came across the idea and find it quite interesting. I have some questions for you.

1. In your area, do girls and womem use solely cloth to make up their sanitary napkins? I know there're a lot of things to make up the liquid absorbing part in sanitary pads that could be easily found. Textile won't do any good for it, since only a few materials have great absorbing capacity.

2. What do you think of cinder, sponge gourd, banana fibre and sponges? Do they work as well as coconut husk do?

Regards,

Phan Anh Th
