Explain your idea in details:

The major challenge faced by small holder farmers in rural communities is the high cost of transportation due to bad access road which increases cost and reduces profit, secondly is low yield due to wrong application of fertilizer and paying no attention to soil health. Farm On Wheels offers a distribution model that delivers proven poverty interventions such as microdosing technique, fertilizers and quality seeds directly to small holder farmers in their various rural communities . We create access and availability of these interventions, give the small holder farmers access to credit facility to enable them invest more on seeds and fertilizers to increase yield and profit. Ready market is also made available to them for their farm produce after harvest. All these FOW offer to small holder farmers that partners with us through their co-operatives . OBJECTIVES :- 1) Partner with small holders rural farmers and their co-operatives. 2) Sensitize the small holder farmers/co-operatives about the benefits of quality seeds, effective use of fertilizer and partnership with FOW , which includes a) Access and availability of quality seeds and effective use of fertilizer b) Credit facility to enable the farmer buy more seeds and fertilizers . c) training on microdosing technique by FOW team d) Free soil testing to determine soil health and improve effective use of fertilizer e) Market facilitation to maximize profit from harvest sale 3) Direct delivery with branded Farm On Wheels truck loaded with quality seeds and fertilizer which will be driven to community and village markets of the farmers. Innovative aproach:- Farm On Wheels bridges the gap between small holder rural farmers, access to finance, quality seeds and fertilizers, processing hubs, wholesalers/retailers and at the same time train them on modern farm practices which increases their farm yield and income.

Expected impact of your idea on sustainable development

In Nigeria, each co-operative has a minimum of 15 people and each state has approximately 14,000 co-operative. Farm on wheels will partner with 250 small holder rural farmers co-operatives in the first year. This will directly impact 3750 small holder farmers to have access to fertilizers, quality seeds and microdosing training and indirectly impact 500,000 people in the first year. In 5 years, FOW will partner with 1500 co-operatives and have direct impact to 22,500 small holder farmers and indirectly impact upto 3,000,000 people. Monitoring and evaluation process:- Each farmer will be encouraged to use their previous method of agricultural practice and the seed from the previous harvest on a portion of their land, this way FOW and the farmers can measure ; 1) How well the crops are doing when compared with their previous farm practice. 2) The effectiveness of microdosing technique. 3) If there is increase in yield after increased fertilizer use and use of quality seeds when applied correctly. 4) Measure the yield increase percentage and find out if it was worth it. Farm On Wheels can also:- 1) Measure the effectiveness of our distribution model. 2) Find out where they are difficulties 3) measure farmers response to FOW services. 4) Measure the direct and indirect impact of our project . Data gathered will be used to identify areas with issues in the distribution model and ways to fix it for efficiency and maximum results. The data will also be used for future references during scaling up and replication in other locations.

Hello fellow passenger,

You might have heard the famous song "What I've done" by Linkin park. The lyrics have been beautifully carved by the late singer Chester Bennington. The song covers the ways in which our so called development has helped only a handful of the upper society members, whereas people are still living in poverty.

We have a great platform here which is urging super brains from around the world to come together and collaborate with their ideas and help make this world a better place to live in. You have been a part of this community and I congratulate you on your effort that you have put in.

Thanks once again and all the best for the future

Comrades,
In this fight for a sustainable future, what we need is innovation; something which is not necessarily new, but which makes us look at things from a different angle.

I believe this is one of the major motives of this community which we are a part of. Taking one step together hand in hand towards our goal is the only way we can achieve it.

So I wish you the very best in this endeavour of yours and hope to see you together in the new tomorrow

Hello,
Being a part of India's well known Entrepreneurship Cell of the most prestigious engineering college in India, I have interacted with many startup enthusiasts, have got to know how they think and what are some qualities that set them apart from the ones who are not able to see their idea through. Reading through your idea, I have realised that your idea has that spark which can help it become a successful venture. Coupled with its aim to help the society achieve its goals sustainably, your idea can be something quite helpful for the same.

But before it's implementation, you need to do a "pre-mortem" check on how it can fail. This would prepare you for any uncalled-for circumstances and help you prepare for them accordingly.

Lastly, I would like you to have a look at our idea, GreenSpace, and share your views about the same.

Wishing you the best,
Team GreenSpace.

Hello,
I invite you kindly to comment my idea Path To Knowledge. I would be glad to hear your advice. I have written this message after I commented almost all ideas and projects and probably yours too. I am deeply sorry if this message bothered you, but everyone on this platform wants to go to the finals with his/her idea and makes all it is possible to get there. Maybe not all the actions are fair. Some participants copies the same meaningless message and paste it to all ideas. I just do marketing. Again, I am sorry if this message disturbed you.

Dear Jocelyne
I understand the way you want to take the whole Community forward towards effective Agriculture., Proper selection of seeds, utilization of fertilization and lack of extension services has been challenge for quite a long especially for farmers at remote areas.
Congulatulatio for this idea I believe after implementation of this idea it is going to improve living standards of farmers.
Good luck!

August 15, 2017 14:37

Hello Jocelyne!

Your idea is a nice one, as it will enlighten small holder farmers, improve crop yield and give them an edge in the economy. Your idea of lending out to the farmers on credit should be critically monitored and if possible, legally backed up to avoid any conflicts between the farmers and your organization. I will like you to critically do a background checkup before lending out. I admire your effort in helping African Farmers. I wish you, success.

You can stop by on my idea to add your contribution.

Best of Luck!

August 8, 2017 21:26

Hi even though your project will require huge funds,it is truly a good initiative.the disadvantaged farmers will really benefit a lot through you. I don't know here in SA anyone who wants to offer credit should register with the national credit provider association which monitor the interest charges and other things.I need you to do a thorough research before offering a credit to anyone and make sure they register assets that will cover their debts if they fail to pay.you cashflow should be carefully especially if your business growth will mostly be funded by it.afterall I wish you all the best.

Please care to look and advise on my idea as well.kind regards

August 8, 2017 14:02

This is a good idea for the small farmers for whom is very difficult to make profit due to many things and yes, the transport is one of these. I hope you will implement this project and I wish you good luck.
