Inspire the Homeless and Unemployed
Explain your idea in details:
If you don’t have a decent education it is hard to find work in South Africa. I believe that the homeless and unemployed in rural areas does not know where to start looking for jobs. They may also have no skills to offer but have an eager mind seeking knowledge and a better life for themselves. The main objective of the organisation will be to seek individuals who are willing to make this change in their life and then arrange to take them off the streets for good. The organisation will help individuals to get a steady job. Firstly, secure jobs/internships of any type for these individuals. Secondly, organize a place where they can sleep comfortably. Thirdly, assign a mentor to assist these individuals for the beginning period of their job/internship. If they require rehab (as result of all the drugs/alcohol on the streets or mental instability) it may be arranged after the aforementioned has been secured.
Expected impact of your idea on sustainable development
The organisation's target will be to identify and assist as many as possible homeless and unemployed individuals in rural areas by securing a job/internship and a comfortable place for them to sleep. These individuals should seek a better life for themselves and be willing to work for it. The success of the organisation can be measured by assessing how many individuals were successfully taken off the street, financial reports regarding the expenditure of resources and feedback from the community, executive board and sponsors. ----- The idea supports the following Sustainable Development Goals; 1. No Poverty 3. Good Health and Well-Being 8. Decent Work and Economic Growth 9. Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure 10. Reduced Inequalities 11. Sustainable Cities and Communities
Plans for implementation and sustainability
A business model that suits a Non-profit Organization (NPO) should be implemented. A NPO relies mainly on the support of grants issued by the government and public/corporate sponsors. An executive board is essential to assure that the organisations resources are used responsibly. The main intention of starting a NPO is to enrich other people's lives and should keep its focus on it. Therefore, the goal is not to make money but rather provide employment and to enrich communities.
