Youth-led Digital Marketing Outsourcing seeks to leverage the potential of the growing digital social media enabled by Information, Communication and Technology, and use it to create decent work and economic growth for youth by:- 1. Offering digital marketing to SMEs and Non-governmental organisations through Search Engine Optimisation (SEO), Website development, etc 2. Management of social media pages for organisations, SMEs and individuals 3. Live coverage of events like weddings, conferences, seminars for individuals and organisations, that in most cases attract less media attention and yet the organisers would like to share the feelings with their friends, relatives and the world. 4. Digital Literacy Training Consultancy, especially in social media, to organisations, SMEs and individuals.
Expected impact of your idea on sustainable development
Through Youth-led Digital Marketing Outsourcing, youth, especially school dropouts will be working in business process outsourcing services offering digital work in a co-working environment. Focus will be placed in increase income levels for youth in order to improve their livelihoods directly and then the one of those who depend on them indirectly. A significant number of youth will be working as agents in the centre, to be paid a work rate stipend for the work done. Their income status will also be monitored over a period of time to prove the theory of change. Each youth will receive coaching and mentor-ship on how to productively put their income to a meaningful use. The coaching and mentor-ship will be youth-led, peer to peer.
Plans for implementation and sustainability
Youth-led Digital Marketing Outsourcing will use the business process outsourcing model, where by it does digital work for other businesses, NGOs and individuals. This enables the financial sustainability of the project through a customer funding. To start, it needs, 1. Access to reliable Internet. 2. Twenty solar powered computers. 3. Furniture 4. Room Marketing will be done among businesses, NGOs and individuals in Entebbe, Kampala and globally, offering global companies to gain access to high quality BPO at affordable price. Global ICT companies can also partner to provide start up infrastructure and expertise. For the start, aout USD 10,000 to 50,000 is needed, to be raised from investors and grants.
As a young person, 29 years old, making 30 yeas soon, committed to leading positive change in Uganda, I am writing to express my interest in joining Youth Citizenship Entrepreneurship Competition. I am experienced in working with other young people to improve my community, particularly through the application of digital technology. Through my community work, I have developed skills in facilitation, coaching, online learning, project planning and management, research, gender and advocacy. I am a graduate of Computer Engineering who has undergone leadership training with Digital Opportunity Trust (DOT), and facilitated DOT programming, enabling young people to acquire ICT and entrepreneurship skills to be able to take advantage of economic, educational and social opportunities. Currently, I am a member of Digital Opportunity Trust's Youth Leadership Advisory Board, reviewing program development initiatives and carrying out research on youth and social enterprises. I am representing Uganda on this board.
