We aim to qualitatively process and package meat products, using an inert gas like nitrogen gas which is not toxic as a preservative and a very thin perforated paper foil that is non-reactive as a packaging material.The products would meet regulatory agencies standards (Like that of NAFDAC (National Agency for food, drugs, administration and control), veterinary council of Nigeria and international best practices in this field. We shall satisfy our customers by giving them a meat product that is healthily processed and packaged for optimum enjoyment by providing a holistic product that meets health needs in an ecologically friendly way and making use of natural grass and soya-bean in our animal fattening procedures. And we intend also to give our customers opportunity of customization. Healthy protein extracts and white meat low in fats from chicken and grass-cutter for those customers who are prone to risks of high Cholesterol and cancer e.g. elderly people. So basically we shall be buying the live animals, fatten if not at desired weight, process and package healthily for onward sales. We are also favorably disposed to creating an app known as "Nama" (meaning meat in the local hausa parlance), so our customers could just be a click away from getting their favorite meat parts and products, and this service is to cover our state of business location. But only in the interim as we seek to expand, we can spread its reach.
Expected impact of your idea on sustainable development
A system of symbiotic relationship will be created between us and the farmers of these animals and our immediate environment. Within our community, we seek to directly patronize them and boost their capacity through engagement training on the best practices in animal care and encourage them to use the animal wastes to replenish the soil and plant these grass seeds which serves as a food source for the animals instead of continuously cutting grasses from new areas and depleting the bush resources. So every 30 days we shall ensure to assist them in the harvesting and repeat the cycle. With animal health and welfare in mind, we shall establish a policy of transparency in our operations and make the abattoir as not just a factory but an animal shelter by ensuring food source and good medical care, ensuring a clean environment and minimum required space for the animals.
Plans for implementation and sustainability
With our reliable suppliers, regulatory agencies and enlightened consumers, we will tackle unhealthy processing and packaging of meat products. We shall align with latest improved trends and adaptations in our processing and locate the abattoir in an area of low population density. We shall engage the services of a in house and qualified veterinary doctor that can provide hands on experience and guidance and formulates the feed used in fattening from natural components like soya bean. With the expected financial contribution from family and friends as well as personal savings, we are well on our way to meeting at least 40% of the financial outlay needed to set up an abattoir of production capacity of 30tons annually. We aim to increase this capacity with grant and loan financing. A culture of competitive pricing will be established to give the customers more for same and an efficient distribution system through sales outlets, direct purchase from the abattoir, distribution vehicle and through our online platform to ensure the products get to every intended user who are low, middle and high income earners as the products would be generally affordable. The production costs, maintenance of facilities and vehicles, salaries and cost of sales are vital cost factors however vis-a-vis the revenue its a 30% chunk. As the certified and qualitatively packaged products will attract the users who are increasingly enlightened.
