Tomato paste production

This bar shows in a scale of 0-10 the Factor of an idea and his owner PROPORTIONAL TO ALL OTHER IDEAS AND OWNERS - 10 is the best, 0 is the worst value. The blue bar changes constantly due to the votes, comments, ratings and activities on this and other ideas.
1 10

Explain your idea in details:

Nigeria provides 5% of the total world tomatoes production. Still, the country does not get about 45% of the tomatoes due to poor food supply chain. Every year, Nigeria loses about 750000 tons of tomatoes due to the bad supply chain, this led to the lack of tomatoes in the country. With this trend still prevalent, Swabokun Enterprises is gearing towards revolutionizing commercial tomato production in Nigeria. OBJECTIVES My main objectives are : 1) Reduce to bearest minimum tomatoes wastage 2) Reduce the shortage/unavailability of tomatoes in the market. 3) Reduce loss accrued by farmers towards production 4) Job creation. 5) Food security. ACTIVITIES Activities lined up in prosecuting this idea include: 1) Having hectares of tomato plantation. 2) Gathering of local tomato farmers around, get them educated about modern way to cultivate to give high yield, supply adequate and necessary farm inputs such as hybrid seeds, fertilizers, pesticides etc. for maximum output and yield. 3) Provision of necessary logistics to bring their produce for processing from their various farms after harvest. INNOVATIVE APPROACHES In Nigeria, tomato is mainly and largely cultivated through rainfed. This only give room for availability of tomatoes during raining season, measures would be taken to incorporate irrigation farming during dry season. This will help production all year round.

Expected impact of your idea on sustainable development

EXPECTED IMPACT It's no doubt that this idea upon successful establishment would have impact on the society/community. The business idea would help in mitigating one or two of the sustainable development goals; No poverty and Zero-hunger. IMPACT ON FOOD SECURITY It is evident that majority of Nigeria population of roughly 170 million people live under poverty line, in which the estimated number of hungry people is over 53 million, about 30% of the country's total population, reported by West Africa insight. However, among other crops cultivated for food in Nigeria, tomato cultivation play a significant role in enhancing food security of the people and reduce livelihood related problems. Tomato being a good source of vitamins and minerals most especially lycopene (an antioxidant that help prevent cancer and keep heart healthy) is an essential elements in our daily consumption. IMPACT ON JOB CREATION. It is paramount that considerable space for job opportunities would be created either in skilled, semi-skilled and unskilled labor. All ranging from farm attendants, an agronomist, a food scientist, a nutritionist to factory workers, sales and market representative. IMPACT ON REVENUE GENERATION Sales of tomato paste will ensure consistent flow of income into the business. As income is generated and profit being made, salaries, wages will be paid to workers, thus increasing the livelihood of the people. IMPACT ON SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT The presence of tomato paste factory in the community tends to increase the social welfare and well being of the people. As cash flow among farmers, workers etc., poverty and hunger are addressed which ultimately lead to their social status elevated.

Your profile

My name is Okunogbe, Sunday Olawale, a Nigerian by descent, born to the family of Elder D.A. Okunogbe. I had my primary and secondary education at the western part of the country. I proceeded to Federal College of Agriculture, Moor Plantation, Ibadan where I obtained my diploma (ND) in Agricultural Technology after which I got admitted into University of Nigeria, Nsukka where I bagged my Bachelor of Agriculture (B.Agric.) in Horticulture. Preceeding my years in school, I have little or no idea about the word "entrepreneur(ship) " but my story changed during my undergraduate days in varsity as we are made to pass through an entrepreneurship course compulsorily, titled, Entrepreneurship Development and Research (CEDR). Thanks alot to the lecturer in charge who open my eye to what to face after school who thoroughly explained the importance and benefits of entrepreneurship in the growth of a country as regards creation of wealth and reduction in unemployment rate. I have to be employer of labour and not necessarily waiting to be employed or to be an employee. I had led various groups and sub groups throughout my post-primary and secondary school days where several achievable feets were made during the course of leading these groups. My watch word all through these periods of leading that led to great success were Diligence +Dedication +Determination = Distinction. With sincerity in my heart and if luck ran on me to win this award, all the aforementioned 3D's will guide my path to be successful in the business world. I am a 2016 cohort of Tony Elumelu Foundation, an entrepreneurship program set up to equip Africa's young entrepreneurs and get funding for their business ideas.

Hello fellow passenger,

You might have heard the famous song "What I've done" by Linkin park. The lyrics have been beautifully carved by the late singer Chester Bennington. The song covers the ways in which our so called development has helped only a handful of the upper society members, whereas people are still living in poverty.

We have a great platform here which is urging super brains from around the world to come together and collaborate with their ideas and help make this world a better place to live in. You have been a part of this community and I congratulate you on your effort that you have put in.

Thanks once again and all the best for the future

Comrades,
In this fight for a sustainable future, what we need is innovation; something which is not necessarily new, but which makes us look at things from a different angle.

I believe this is one of the major motives of this community which we are a part of. Taking one step together hand in hand towards our goal is the only way we can achieve it.

So I wish you the very best in this endeavour of yours and hope to see you together in the new tomorrow

Dear Fellow participant,

You have done well thus far. Only few people will venture relentlessly into the things in which their instincts proposes because sometimes the goal appears too crazy to achieve, so they just retreat.

Actually, someone has said that "The people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do."

You may have seen this before but I want to remind you that it's true, only those who are "crazy enough" eventually get results.

Congratulations for been "crazy enough" (seeing beyond normal and following your dreams despite the odds)...

Best wishes,
Seth

Hello,
Being a part of India's well known Entrepreneurship Cell of the most prestigious engineering college in India, I have interacted with many startup enthusiasts, have got to know how they think and what are some qualities that set them apart from the ones who are not able to see their idea through. Reading through your idea, I have realised that your idea has that spark which can help it become a successful venture. Coupled with its aim to help the society achieve its goals sustainably, your idea can be something quite helpful for the same.

But before it's implementation, you need to do a "pre-mortem" check on how it can fail. This would prepare you for any uncalled-for circumstances and help you prepare for them accordingly.

Lastly, I would like you to have a look at our idea, GreenSpace, and share your views about the same.

Wishing you the best,
Team GreenSpace.

Hello,
I invite you kindly to comment my idea Path To Knowledge. I would be glad to hear your advice. I have written this message after I commented almost all ideas and projects and probably yours too. I am deeply sorry if this message bothered you, but everyone on this platform wants to go to the finals with his/her idea and makes all it is possible to get there. Maybe not all the actions are fair. Some participants copy the same meaningless message and paste it to all ideas. I just do marketing. Again, I am sorry if this message disturbed you.
Kindest regards,

Dear Sunday
You have a very good idea. Tomato wastage has been serious and cause economic loss to farmers and to the national level as well. Expansion of your idea will build a culture of using processed tomatoes which previously was not there. Your idear is within reach and can be applied in different Countries.
All the best
See you at the top.

Hi Sunday,

You have an awesome idea that will greatly impact the agro sector. I like the thoughts you've embedded in your concept and I fully support it.

However, just wanted to know if you've already got the source for the fruits (tomatoes) and how you intend to ckmpete with the big players already in the game in Nigeria...

Once more I wish you the best with this,
Regards,
Seth

Also in the same spirit I'd love that you read through my idea and kindly give your support too.
