Reserve a parking plot

Parking is one of the major problems every individual face. Parking in garages is more expensive than street spaces because of which drivers and go round and round in circles in search of parking plots which increases traffic congestion, air pollution and wastage of petrol/ diesel and also time. This problem can be solved by reserving the parking plot. A mobile application is to be created which views the parking plots of the particular area entered. To reserve a plot, the user must choose an empty plot and enter the registration number of the vehicle to the corresponding particular plot. Cameras and sirens are to placed at different parking locations of every area, and LED lights surrounding the parking plots. The registration number to the particular plot is stored in the central server database. When a car enters the plot that can be sensed using a sensor,The camera captures the image of number plate of the vehicle, this image is sent to the server through wireless transactions .By digital image processing techniques, the verification of the number plate and the registration number entered in app can be done in MATLAB software. If both differ then the LED light surrounding the plot starts to blink and the siren near the camera rings. Once the car moves out of the parking plot the registration number in the database will be deleted. When the car moves, the sensor detects and sends signals to the camera, the camera captures an image of the number plate and send it to the server. The server checks with the database. If the registration number is already present in the database, it will be deleted, next user can use the plot.
Expected impact of your idea on sustainable development
Land for parking plots kept on increasing over the years just because of increasing number of cars in the city. If parking plots are too many then we can just imagine how many cars would be in search of a single parking plot each and every day, which also increases the amount of pollution generated by each car for a single parking plot everyday. This project will be a convenient solution for anyone to just book plot and place the car in the plot. If the application shows no parking plot available in any near by area of the users destination, the user would find other means of transport instead creating a mess by going round and round around the parking area and end up finding no plot to park the car. This project would mainly have an impact on the drivers by saving their time and reducing mental tension. This project reduces traffic congestion and air pollution. And also reduces wastage of petrol/ diesel. It would also have an impact on how well the city is organised and developed. This project could also be one of the major reasons in the transformation of a city into a Smart City.
Plans for implementation and sustainability
The project does not need much investment. All it needs is cameras, sirens and LED lights. The basic component of the project is mobile application which is cost less. The equipment required are to be taken care off, which can be handled by any organisation or government if they believe the project is worth to implement. The user will have to pay for the parking plot through e-transfer.Once the car moves out of the parking plot, the user will receive a message of the amount to be paid based on time the parking plot has been utilised. The user can only book a plot again only if he/she clear previous payment. The restriction of the application is, if the driver books a parking plot he/she must be available to the parking plot in 1-1/2 hour, if not the registration would be cancelled. This is because it wouldn't be fair with other users if a driver books a plot in the morning but he/she actually needs the plot in the evening. If a user books a parking plot and does not turn up in correct time i.e, in 1-1/2 hour neither cancels the reservation then, the user will have to pay an equivalent charge he/she books a plot next time. The application will also be helpful in letting the driver the know in which area of the parking plots he/she has parked the car. All the day to day bookings will be present in their account history, if he/she access their account history it would become easy to find the location where they have parked the car. This would really have a huge impact on sustainability and also developing the city.
