Secchasebi Bohumukhi Mohila Samaj-kallayan Samity (SBMSS)
Explain your project in details:
Women will be able to raise voice after having involved in income generating activities to combat against all sorts of social violence and discrimination, and, can participate in the decision making process within the family and in workplaces sustaining the dignity and bodily integrity through which strong social norms and values will be established within society. Girls after practicing the regular schooling not only can develop as a human being but as a potential social decision maker and, therefore, can act as a change maker of the social practices and involvements. If this can be practiced on a regular basis then the social change is bound to take place within the living community, and, therefore, even after the end of this active project, the norms will be set within the targeted community regarding the womens involvements in income generating activities and building of leaderships through voice raising capability. The other objectives of this project are to provide attention against all kinds of gender based discrimination against women, and steps to ensure their rights and dignity, so that, the harmony of social participation prevails within the community in a more secured environment for women. And to strengthen the capacity for public service institutions to monitor and implement legal provisions regarding safety and security of women and girls at workplaces and in society and to enhance and ensure Local Government Institutions (LGI's) and public service providers responsiveness and accountability to ensure that the victims of VAWG get required legal aids and shelter. The gradual phase by phase implementation of the project will comprise the following activities: Baseline survey, Community Watch Group formation, Inception workshop, Training, Meeting, Workshops, Seminar, Day Observations, Ready Action, Monitoring and Evaluation, Research and Publication, and Reporting.
Impact of your enterprise on sustainable development
The monetary value of the project will be reflected in sustainability of the project goals. It is not only within the project long time frame but also the on the aftermath of the completion of the project. The minimization of the dropouts in public institutions, eradicate VAWG within the community through awareness raising activities, voicing of rights and dignity for women and girls, making linkage for the violence affected people with the legal blast to ensure the legal aid, to get back in the regular households activities as usual, prevention of dropouts from schools, to protest early marriage, awareness raising activities against sexual harassment and importantly for the practical involvements of women in the income generating activities to support families are within the project sustainability goals, and therefore, the monetary value of the project, which impact in a large scale to maintain peace and continuous prosperity within society. If all these issues can be supported from the back of the stakeholders' including the active participation of the community people, only then the sustainability of the proposed project can be achieved. Now, if we chronologically link the project goals with the Sustainable Development Goals in the thematic areas then we can see that Health and well being, Quality Education, Gender Equity, Decent Work and Economic development, Reducing Inequalities, Peace and Justice, are the sixth Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) that are either partially and/or completely covers the thematic areas within the project goals. This project completely impacts on the social well-being processes and has long lasting impacts on the social economy of the state from the micro (local) to the macro (country wide) dimensions in the Bangladeshi context.
Sustainability and future plans
"Strengthening Public Institutions to Ensure Responsiveness on the Gender Based Violence against Women" is a huge task for an NGO like SBMSS. Therefore, we are welcoming donors having strong influences over the local and the national governing body, who can not only work as motivator but also can work as a monitor on the aforementioned issues. We, now, are writing proposals to the organizations like the UNDP and the UNFPA to work on the topic locally in Rajshahi district, Bangladesh. We are following a standard procedure through our project proposals to invite donors. We are sending our NGO profiles and are also following their related instructions in writing and submitting our projects. Since we do not have fund to provide technical support to the issues like addressing the Gender Based Violence (GBViE) in Emergency Situations after August 31, 2017, therefore, we are welcoming new donors. We are hopeful to continue our projects in relevant areas in future. Recently, we have got a community radio license named as the "Radio Boral" from the government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh under the Ministry of Information through which we will be able to raise awareness within our broadcasting areas among the community regarding GBViE issues through relevant radio programs on air. Yet we feel that only awareness raising activities are not enough, we need implementation, and regular monitoring by the respective authorities in each institution to provide support for the affected women. And practicing gender policy manual are equally required within each institution. We also want to raise awareness among the institutional policy makers. We are hopeful.
