Explain your project in details:

Women will be able to raise voice after having involved in income generating activities to combat against all sorts of social violence and discrimination, and, can participate in the decision making process within the family and in workplaces sustaining the dignity and bodily integrity through which strong social norms and values will be established within society. Girls after practicing the regular schooling not only can develop as a human being but as a potential social decision maker and, therefore, can act as a change maker of the social practices and involvements. If this can be practiced on a regular basis then the social change is bound to take place within the living community, and, therefore, even after the end of this active project, the norms will be set within the targeted community regarding the womens involvements in income generating activities and building of leaderships through voice raising capability. The other objectives of this project are to provide attention against all kinds of gender based discrimination against women, and steps to ensure their rights and dignity, so that, the harmony of social participation prevails within the community in a more secured environment for women. And to strengthen the capacity for public service institutions to monitor and implement legal provisions regarding safety and security of women and girls at workplaces and in society and to enhance and ensure Local Government Institutions (LGI's) and public service providers responsiveness and accountability to ensure that the victims of VAWG get required legal aids and shelter. The gradual phase by phase implementation of the project will comprise the following activities: Baseline survey, Community Watch Group formation, Inception workshop, Training, Meeting, Workshops, Seminar, Day Observations, Ready Action, Monitoring and Evaluation, Research and Publication, and Reporting.

Impact of your enterprise on sustainable development

The monetary value of the project will be reflected in sustainability of the project goals. It is not only within the project long time frame but also the on the aftermath of the completion of the project. The minimization of the dropouts in public institutions, eradicate VAWG within the community through awareness raising activities, voicing of rights and dignity for women and girls, making linkage for the violence affected people with the legal blast to ensure the legal aid, to get back in the regular households activities as usual, prevention of dropouts from schools, to protest early marriage, awareness raising activities against sexual harassment and importantly for the practical involvements of women in the income generating activities to support families are within the project sustainability goals, and therefore, the monetary value of the project, which impact in a large scale to maintain peace and continuous prosperity within society. If all these issues can be supported from the back of the stakeholders' including the active participation of the community people, only then the sustainability of the proposed project can be achieved. Now, if we chronologically link the project goals with the Sustainable Development Goals in the thematic areas then we can see that Health and well being, Quality Education, Gender Equity, Decent Work and Economic development, Reducing Inequalities, Peace and Justice, are the sixth Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) that are either partially and/or completely covers the thematic areas within the project goals. This project completely impacts on the social well-being processes and has long lasting impacts on the social economy of the state from the micro (local) to the macro (country wide) dimensions in the Bangladeshi context.

Sustainability and future plans

"Strengthening Public Institutions to Ensure Responsiveness on the Gender Based Violence against Women" is a huge task for an NGO like SBMSS. Therefore, we are welcoming donors having strong influences over the local and the national governing body, who can not only work as motivator but also can work as a monitor on the aforementioned issues. We, now, are writing proposals to the organizations like the UNDP and the UNFPA to work on the topic locally in Rajshahi district, Bangladesh. We are following a standard procedure through our project proposals to invite donors. We are sending our NGO profiles and are also following their related instructions in writing and submitting our projects. Since we do not have fund to provide technical support to the issues like addressing the Gender Based Violence (GBViE) in Emergency Situations after August 31, 2017, therefore, we are welcoming new donors. We are hopeful to continue our projects in relevant areas in future. Recently, we have got a community radio license named as the "Radio Boral" from the government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh under the Ministry of Information through which we will be able to raise awareness within our broadcasting areas among the community regarding GBViE issues through relevant radio programs on air. Yet we feel that only awareness raising activities are not enough, we need implementation, and regular monitoring by the respective authorities in each institution to provide support for the affected women. And practicing gender policy manual are equally required within each institution. We also want to raise awareness among the institutional policy makers. We are hopeful.

Dear Resiliant Entrepreneur,

It's the end of the competition, I want to urge you to not leave this community without the contact (email especially) of as many other entrepreneurs on this platform. You never can tell what your further conversations may produce.

It's the power of networking and leverage I'm talking about...

Bye fellow entrepreneur:
As I say good buy, I must say it has been an astounding time reading so many great entries.
I went through the details of your idea and was indeed very impressed. Would you be kind enough to please explain to me as how you got this idea? Equally importantly, who were (are) the people who inspired you for you to come up with this idea.
Take care and all the very best!

Hello fellow passenger,

You might have heard the famous song "What I've done" by Linkin park. The lyrics have been beautifully carved by the late singer Chester Bennington. The song covers the ways in which our so called development has helped only a handful of the upper society members, whereas people are still living in poverty.

We have a great platform here which is urging super brains from around the world to come together and collaborate with their ideas and help make this world a better place to live in. You have been a part of this community and I congratulate you on your effort that you have put in.

Thanks once again and all the best for the future
Regards,
Team GreenSpace

I would like to be in touch with you,
Cheers from Kabul.

Comrades,
In this fight for a sustainable future, what we need is innovation; something which is not necessarily new, but which makes us look at things from a different angle.

I believe this is one of the major motives of this community which we are a part of. Taking one step together hand in hand towards our goal is the only way we can achieve it.

So I wish you the very best in this endeavour of yours and hope to see you together in the new tomorrow

Without change there is no innovation, creativity, or incentive for improvement. Those who initiate change will have a better opportunity to manage the change that is inevitable. So change this world with your idea.
Wishing you all the success and hope you will be there in the finals.

Hello,
Being a part of India's well-known Entrepreneurship Cell of the most prestigious engineering college in India, I have interacted with many startup enthusiasts, have got to know how they think and what are some qualities that set them apart from the ones who are not able to see their idea through. Reading through your idea, I have realised that your idea has that spark which can help it become a successful venture. Coupled with its aim to help the society achieve its goals sustainably, your idea can be something quite helpful for the same.

But before it's implementation, you need to do a "premortem" check on how it can fail. This would prepare you for any uncalled-for circumstances and help you prepare for them accordingly.

Lastly, I would like you to have a look at our idea, GreenSpace, and share your views about the same.

Regards,
Team GreenSpace.

The Project Sustainability: We work in the project with an objective to familiarize the community people to become well aware of the program. The social action committee comprising of members from stakeholders will be empowered to come up with solution for justice to women. The committee will continually develop their capacity such as liaising with the stakeholders, local leaders (religious and political), elites, district administration, law enforcing agencies, political leaders etc for linkage. The committee will feel ownership of the program. Moreover, the project staffs will shift their roles delegating the responsibility to the committee for their capacity building. However, SBMSS will be working in the project area after project graduation/ end of training session towards women to follow up the program, and also as the backup support. The monetary value of the project will be reflected in sustainability of the project goals. It is not only within the project long time-frame but also through the aftermath of the completion of the project. The minimization of the dropouts in public institutions, eradicate VAWG within the community through awareness raising activities, voicing of rights and dignity for women and girls, making linkage for the violence affected people with the legal blast to ensure the legal aid and also to get back in the regular households activities as usual, prevention of dropouts from schools, awareness raising activities against sexual harassment, and, importantly, the practical involvements of women in the income generating activities to support their families continually are within the project sustainability goals. If all these issues can be supported continually from the back of the stakeholders' including the active participation of the core project staffs and the community people, only then the sustainability of the project can be achieved.

April 20, 2017 22:57

Hi Mahmud,

Thank you for sharing about your challenges. I admire your organisation's perseverance to keep working to achieve your mission. All the best!

Cheers
Yoke

April 20, 2017 21:40

Very good project. I really appreciate the good works you and your team have been doing. But, you didn't state the financial sustainability of the project in your write-up.

April 20, 2017 17:12

The main challenges to implement our activities are, firstly, to provoke thinking capability among the male headed members of vivid families, who are devoid of education, and are little in doubt regarding our activities in the sense that why we are cooperating them to enjoy a healthy leaving, and engaging in a moderate income generating activities through sewing and needling. We are engaging women with different needling and sewing houses who are taking there products in exchange of money. Before that we create learning opportunities for sewing and needling activities for women with little costing and sometimes no costing, secondly, we find it hard to make linkages between so many women and so little sewing houses that, sometimes, we find very little scope to engage women. Thirdly, sewing and related activities are creative works, and everyone does not posses the same creative thinking, and, therefore, engaging those women with wear houses becomes very challenging. Fourthly, the payment systems sometimes gets delayed for those women involved in, then, to ensure the payments to those women involved are a huge tasks, since we are not the authority for ensuring payments, therefore, monitoring becomes very difficult. Because of that, we, in recent days, find many dropouts form our sewing and needling training activities. Fifth, since there is no Ready Made Garments (RMG) sector available in Rajshahi and nearby locality, we can not send local women for further secured employment opportunities. It is understandable that, the RMG sectors for women are not always safe to work on, and their male family members are very concern regarding this, therefore, we are also concern. Sixth, the next challenge is to find out the payments for the Trainers in a regular basis, because, we take very little amount for the training enrollment process and sometimes take No Money form the training participants, therefore, in these days we find it difficult to carry this opportunity on, because, money has to be paid to the Trainers since they are professionals. The hard truth is that we have very little amount of founding source, therefore, we look forward to find and locate new donors to this learning and earning processes. Our recent project with the Action Aid Bangladesh will close on August 31, 2017. After that we do not have fund to carry on our work against Gender Based Violence (GBV) and to Protest Early Marriage. But we are trying to collect funding bodies, and writing and submitting the project proposals to the International and National Organizations. We have submitted our NGO profile and the project proposals to the UNFPA, UNDP, MJF for SIDA grants, and to OXFAM. We are hopeful to continue our work. We are waiting for their responses. The challenges are many, but we hope to continue our work for women in future. We would welcome new donors, who are intending to donate following the standard procedures. We are accountable to society and the stakeholders.

Hi Mahmud,

Great that you are working on women's empowerment. May I ask, what are the main challenges your organisation faces when implementing your activities?

Thanks!

Cheers

Your idea is a wonderful one, very innovative, for the fact that it's about improving/promoting the female gender, I will like to thank you, you are doing a great job, however you didn't mention the income generating program the women would be involved in, you might as well take that into consideration
