The FeedtheFuture-Nigeria project is a community initiative targetd at achieving the goals of Zero Hunger, Improved nutrition and Quality education for children affected by violence aimed at promoting peace and economic stability. The project employs school feeding as a tool to fighting malnutrition and enhancing learning abilities at school. The Feed the Future project follows a sustainable plan of improving livelihood of local farmers through the provision of locally available nutritious food a day for children at schools and intends to have a systematic impact on thousand lives of children and youths by the year. The innovative approach of the FeedtheFuture-Nigeria project is that it uses the process of adequate and appropriate feeding to achieve the combined goals of Zero Hunger, improved nutrition, Quality education which consequently reduces the incidence of children used in the process of violent extremism thereby promoting peace and economic stability. At FeedtheFuture Nigeria project, our activities are a product of community needs assessment, strength in terms of locally available resources and mobilization.
Impact of your enterprise on sustainable development
The FeedtheFuture-Nigeria project is a social enterprise for social good with our activities tailored in line with the achievement of the Sustainable development goals. The campaign initiative 'Feed A Child Today ' of our project has successfully been able to advocate for a meal per day for students in our intervention model schools. We were able to evaluate from our pilot projects that there was impact on the rate of enrolment and reduced drop out rates from school. The Feed the Future Nigeria project is also capable of enhancing learning abilities at school through the feeding program, Hence promoting Education for sustainable development (ESD). The overall impact on Sustainable development includes improved livelihood for local farmers through the sale of produce, high and effective productivity from school students and finally peace and economic stability.
Sustainability and future plans
The FeedtheFuture-Nigeria project follows a community based intervention business model where resources are sourced by and from the community with impact also within the community. It follows a sustainable manner of providing locally available food from small farm holders to support nutritious school meal a day for children at schools. The project intends to follow this sustainability plan by ensuring livelihood of local farmers through support with viable seedlings, training on climate smart agricultural practices to boost food security and mobilization to supplying produce to various schools for impact. We are looking at making more women inclusive also in the process of sustainable agriculture as a form empowerment and Gender Equality . The FeedtheFuture-Nigeria project has a goal of systematically impacting thousands of lives of women and children in Nigeria by the year 2030 in line with the achievement of the Sustainable development goals. We source for funds from Collaborating partners, international donors, community stakeholders and private investors and finally from friends and family that believes in the goal of the FeedtheFuture-Nigeria project.
Your profile as an entrepreneur
Ayomide Daniel Ogundeji, Ibadan, Nigeria Ayomide has two years of experience in the nonprofit sector, and earned a Bachelors of Science in Nutrition & Dietetics from the University of Ibadan in Nigeria and currently running his Masters degree in Public Health at the University of Ibadan.While working as a Program officer:Nutrition,Food Security and Livelihood for Food Basket Foundation International,a nutrition based non-profit organization in Nigeria, He helped improve the health of mothers and children suffering from Malnutrition in south west Nigeria. Previously,Ayomide lead a community campaign initative,'FeedAChildToday' to support school feeding as a tool for fighting malnutrition and enhance learning abilities for children at schools for sustainable development.Ayomide is currently the Team lead for the Hearts Connect Initative, a non profit organizationon for peace and education located in Lagos, Nigeria where he has been involved with campaign programs for the GirlChild rights. Ayomide has a proven leadership track record, as an Undergraduate he was awarded the University of Ibadan meritorious award of excellence as electoral commissioner for the University students Union executive and representative Council elections also the Distinguished service award as executive Vice chairman, Kuti Hall University of Ibadan. Ayomide was recently selected as an Obama's Young African Emerging leader for the Regional leadership Centre, West Africa. Through these experiences, He developed strong civic leadership and project management skills. Ayomide enjoys focusing on the topics of maternal and child nutrition and health and has a strong passion for women and girls empowerment.
