Explain your project in details:

Dadagorgud.com is an online marketplace to purchase art and handmade crafts from talented art makers. Dadagorgud.com is the only company in Azerbaijan focused on improving the lives of local artists and helping them to connect with each other. Many artists featured in our website may not even be familiar with the idea of the Internet, but they now have a way to expand sales of their crafts. Dadagorgud.com focuses its efforts in Azerbaijan with the small team, who take the photos of the products from art makers, place them in the website and arrange the sales of those products. The art makers decide the price of the items and we put our 5% contractual mark-up on that. Dadagorgud.com art makers rely on us to sell their crafts. The website hosts more than 100 sellers from the remote areas of Azerbaijan, and we are working on contacting more art makers to connect them to our art community. Dadagorgud.com helps bring income to the artists and to make their stories known. Dadagorgud.com promotes art which triggers social inclusion and empowerment, and also creates economic opportunities and alleviates poverty. We address the growth of art, stimulate craft production and sell them to make monetary benefit for art makers in Azerbaijan. I myself was involved with artists from mountainous Xizi region meeting with tribal groups in remote areas of Azerbaijan. I saw women making jewelry which I thought can be sold for a considerable profit in our website. We took photos of their products and placed them in our website. Their products are sold almost each week and such craft promotion initiative brings income to those women giving them a sense of self-esteem and maintains artistic traditions within the community.

Impact of your enterprise on sustainable development

Dadagorgud.com is the first platform designed as a home for creative and innovative stuffs which removes the barriers and creates opportunities for young talented people to become successful. There are two main causes which stagnates the development of art in my country. These causes are distance and society's gender stereotypes which limits women's involvement in art. Using digital advantages of the modern world, Dadagorgud.com provides new solutions to overcome these difficulties and enhance the role of art in social progress. We have discovered many and many talented people living in the district zones of Azerbaijan including villages and mountainy areas who find it very difficult to find buyers for their incredible stuffs. Dadagorgud.com removes this distance barrier and helps them to showcase their products to art lovers instantly. We visit them and help them to get connected with other art makers. We also have many disabled people in our country who find it very difficult to involve in society and make their livings. We help many of them to be part of the society and make money from their art skills. The other big barrier is the society's gender stereotypes which limits women's involvement in art. The mindset in my country restrict women and limit them to stick to particular fields such as teachers or nurses or force them not to work. Dadagorgud.com understands the potential of female artists and empower them with its digital platform. One of our user who is a very talented female painter contacted us through our website and asked how she could sell her paintings. We visited her, took the photos of her paintings and placed them in our platform. At first, her parents were against that. Once her paintings were sold and she started to make money, her parents also started to support her.

Sustainability and future plans

We are looking forward to expanding the access of Dadagorgud.com to other locations around the globe and establish a local–global link among different cultures and communities. Our profit mainly comes from the sales of products since we put our 5% contractual mark-up on the price. However, this is not currently enough to expand our project. To finance this expansion, we plan to contact big companies who provide subsidies as a part of sustainable development program. We also plan to ask for Government support to finance the expansion of our project to other countries. We envisage this expansion in two steps. In the first step, we plan to access the markets of neighbor countries due to easiest access, more control, and lack of alternative platforms to promote the talents hidden in such countries. In the second step, we target a wider list of countries. At the same time, we plan to have more visits to country sides (especially the villages in regional areas) to explore the talents in such places. We have already found many talents making incredibly stuffs. There are hundreds of people that we can keep discovering and helping them to become a successful artist with the guidance of community members.

Your profile as an entrepreneur

My name is Jalil Ganbarov. I am founder and project manager of Dadagorgud.com . I am 27 years old. I am from Celilabad (southern district of Azerbaijan). I live in Baku. I have a lot of experience in many industries including machinery, oil & gas, art and teaching. I recently participated in an international forum on cultural and creativity organized by UNESCO. Once I visited the developed countries, I started to see the difference. The difference in the role of women and men in the society, the difference in the quality of the education, the difference in the culture and most importantly the difference in the mindset of the people. It is not bad to be different but it is really harmful if the difference stagnates your development and if that difference creates inequality and eventually breaks the balance. Our team are really enthusiastic to help our society and improve that. There are many ways that we can demonstrate our enthusiasm in improving things around us. We have chosen art which plays the most important role in changing the mindset of people and also the most welcomed one since every one of us is some kind of artist in this world. We did not try to create something new, we just tried to use and combine what we have already. Now we are like a family and growing bigger and bigger and getting closer.

Dear Resiliant Entrepreneur,

It's the end of the competition, I want to urge you to not leave this community without the contact (email especially) of as many other entrepreneurs on this platform. You never can tell what your further conversations may produce.

It's the power of networking and leverage I'm talking about...
Here's my email [email protected] looking forward to hearing from you.

Regards
Seth

Congratulations, you are a winner!!!
We have all been waiting to hear this.
Winning or loosing for me is a perspective. It depends on how you look at it.
What you do next is what's important.
A wise man said " He who fights and run lives to fight another day".
Its interesting, there are two phases to this statement. I hope you really really get it.
Don't give up, stay connected and you have already won.

I am waiting to hear your idea in the news.

Bye fellow entrepreneur:
As I say good buy, I must say it has been an astounding time reading so many great entries.
I went through the details of your idea and was indeed very impressed. Would you be kind enough to please explain to me as how you got this idea? Equally importantly, who were (are) the people who inspired you for you to come up with this idea.
Take care and all the very best!

Hello fellow passenger,

You might have heard the famous song "What I've done" by Linkin park. The lyrics have been beautifully carved by the late singer Chester Bennington. The song covers the ways in which our so called development has helped only a handful of the upper society members, whereas people are still living in poverty.

We have a great platform here which is urging super brains from around the world to come together and collaborate with their ideas and help make this world a better place to live in. You have been a part of this community and I congratulate you on your effort that you have put in.

Thanks once again and all the best for the future
Regards,

Comrades,
In this fight for a sustainable future, what we need is innovation; something which is not necessarily new, but which makes us look at things from a different angle.

I believe this is one of the major motives of this community which we are a part of. Taking one step together hand in hand towards our goal is the only way we can achieve it.

So I wish you the very best in this endeavour of yours and hope to see you together in the new tomorrow

Dear Fellow participant,

You have done well thus far. Only few people will venture relentlessly into the things in which their instincts proposes because sometimes the goal appears too crazy to achieve, so they just retreat.

Actually, someone has said that "The people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do."

You may have seen this before but I want to remind you that it's true, only those who are "crazy enough" eventually get results.

Congratulations for been "crazy enough" (seeing beyond normal and following your dreams despite the odds)...

Best wishes,
Seth

Hello,
Being a part of India's well-known Entrepreneurship Cell of the most prestigious engineering college in India, I have interacted with many startup enthusiasts, have got to know how they think and what are some qualities that set them apart from the ones who are not able to see their idea through. Reading through your idea, I have realised that your idea has that spark which can help it become a successful venture. Coupled with its aim to help the society achieve its goals sustainably, your idea can be something quite helpful for the same.

But before it's implementation, you need to do a "premortem" check on how it can fail. This would prepare you for any uncalled-for circumstances and help you prepare for them accordingly.

Lastly, I would like you to have a look at our idea, GreenSpace, and share your views about the same.

Regards,
Team GreenSpace.

Hi Jalil, I think this is a great project and it is so good that you have implemented it. The site is bright, easy to use and clear. I think that it could be more helpful if there is more details in the description part of each product. The English version is not fully updated for all products yet. Further, does the site support or facilitate with transportation now or have plan for it in the future?

Thank you. Trinh

My dear friend from Indonesia,

Many thanks for your feedback and support. We have started this project last year. Our vision is to extend our community to other countries and build a pure art platform for all art discoverers and makers. Currently, many individuals from various background help us to develop our virtual community in terms of improving the design of our platform, providing hosting services, helping us to find talents, seeking sponsors etc.) If you ask the members who initiated this project, then, it is myself and my two friends. One of them is graphic designer and the other one is developer.

Please keep providing your feedback, that is what makes us better!

Many Thanks and best regards,

Jalil Ganbarov

Many thanks for your support and valuable suggestion. At the moment, our platform mainly focuses on tangible products. We review different options to include intangible products into our platform and provide economical benefits to the talents from this field as well. I hope, in the near term, we will come up with an efficient way to fit that to the current structure of the platform.

Many thanks and best regards,

Jalil Ganbarov

Oh! Just found it! :) Thanks!

By the way, did you think about selling handmade soap and artisan goods like that? :) In other words, be like the e-commerce platform Etsy. I think it could work well for you.

May 21, 2017 03:17

Dear Cristina,

Many thanks for your support and feedback. Please notice that the website has already included English and Russian languages. But, the main language is Azeri at the moment due to it is mainly used in Azerbaijan. Once we expand it to the other countries, English will be the the main one. Hope this clarifies you comment.

Many thanks and best regards,
