TURNKEY PROJECT OF CASSAVA PROCESSING

10T/DAY ECONOMIC CASSAVA STARCH PRODUCTION LINE Cassava:Subshrubs of the genus cassava,perennial.The root tubers are cylindrical and the thickness vary greatly among different varieties. Cassava starch processing principle: The cassava starch production process is the physical separation process from the cassava raw material starch,cellulose,protein,the inorganic quality and so on. In the production process,according to the nature of the starch which is not soluble in cold water and denser than water,special machinery and equipment is used to separate the aqueous starch solution to achieve the purpose of the recycling starch. Auxilliary facilities: Transformers,Water distribution cabinets,water supply systems,corresponding storage and stacking sites,micropowder collection tanks,transfer tanks etc. Processing equipment process flow: 1.The conveyor cleaning is piled upon the yard through the ground to collect fresh cassava transported by conveyor belt to desilt peeling machine by stirring and grinding the ribs,preliminary removal of cassava and the dirt and debris into the washing process. 2.The cleaned cassava is then crushed by a fly hammer type cassava crusher which breaks the structure of the cassava thereby allowing allowing tiny starch particles to disintegrate and separate from the cassava root. 3.With water as the medium the cassava is beaten into slurry and the starch passed through a 6-8mm sieve which is passed through a slurry separator for separation 4.The starch is passed through disc separator to remove silt and other inorganic impurities and the protein which is mainly concentrated in order to achieve the requirements for dehydration. 5.The solution is passed through centrifugal dehydration machine which reduces the water content of the starch from 60% to 38%,it then goes through air dryer for treatment 6.The starch is heated by hot air to achieve the purpose of drying in the airflow dryer.The moisture content after air drying is reduced to 12% and the finished product is standard. 7.The final product is passed through inspection screen and packaged into 25kg and50kg.

With the increase of of wastage of cassava produce and no storage facilities of the cassava especially in the rural areas,this turnkey processing of cassava will immensely have a positive impact on the economy and national development. This will be achieved by: 1.Creating employment as the processing of the cassava by the turnkey project involves a labour of between 20-25. 2.It will reduce rural-urban migration where people move from the rural areas to the urban areas in search of jobs and greener pastures thereby putting pressure on social amenities in the cities. 3.Utilization of cassava produce thereby reducing cassava produce that goes waste and spoil because of lack of facilities for storage. 4.The project is also tailored to promote made in Ghana goods and reduce importation of cassava starch and its finished products by the government into the country.
Sustainability and future plans
The main technical index and other facilities will include;Industrial cassava,The production line requires about 280KW of electricity,Land size to be used as workshop area of about 40 meters,Tons of Starch water consumption of about 8-10 cubic meters. For its future growth and with this business model,the government can assist to introduce this business model to all cassava producing areas and villages with its advantages outlined above since cassava is largely consumed about 80% of the populace,its a viable project the government and other stakeholders to engage in which will bring about sustainable economic development. Financially I plan to seek investors as well as the government and other stakeholders who are looking for long term benefits and profits.I will also source for funds from private financial institutions.
