COMMUNITY AND YOUTH EMPOWERMENT THROUGH ENTREPRENEURSHIP PROGRAMME.
Explain your project in details:
The project promote rural and urban entrepreneurship through creativity, production and innovative packaging. The ultimate objectives of this project are: 1. To create entrepreneurs to be self employed in Nigeria and Africa 2. To Promote Talent-based Entrepreneurship for decent and sustainable business enterprises among graduates and non graduates youth 3. To enhance worker satisfaction and work productivity at the work place among employees 4. To build entrepreneurship centers that will trainee youths. The innovative approaches employed in achieving these objectives include: 1. Organizing a career and course of study guidance programme for all students at the Junior/Senior Secondary School level across the country. Early this year, I have been doing this project in my church, but i want to increase its impact so that it can reach across the 36 States in Nigeria and as well involve teenagers/youths in the process at a centralised venue within the communities with the needed sponsorship and media awareness partnership. 2. Through my consult, I run a monthly programme called GLOBAL ICONS YOUTH ENTREPRENEURSHIP PROGRAMME, where I coach and train youths to discover their purpose, identify their talents on food processing, catering and confectionary to develop their talents into decent and sustainable entrepreneurial business ventures. 3. I also provide practical training every last Tuesday of every month for youths to be self employed so as to earn revenues for themselves. This help them to plan towards a smooth transition or change of job which aligns with their natural career path, thereby becoming productive at work as well as gaining fulfilment with their work task. Two hectares of land will be purchased for the entrepreneurship centre, ten staffs will be employed and food processing machines such as automatic packaging machine, food mixers, food extruder, food dicer for smooth training and production.
Impact of your enterprise on sustainable development
Through the Global Icons Youth Entrepreneurship Tuesday project,(Word Arena Youths) we have empowered over 1,000 youths to improve on their business management and entrepreneurship skills, i have also coached over 100 teenagers and youths(Junior and Senior secondary school level) on how to key into business management and entrepreneurship skills that will helped them while in school and after school, trained over 10 graduates to develop their talents and gifts into entrepreneurial ventures and guided about 5 dissatisfied workers to discover their natural career paths and professions. In 2016, I was awarded a Certificate of Recognition as best trainee of Catering and Confectionary under Skills Training and Entrepreneurship Programme(STEP) in Delta State of Nigeria. In 2017 i was also awarded a YALILEARNS Certificate for Emerging Entrepreneurs under food processing. There are several chats, texts, audio and video feedback messages from clients, students, youths who have benefitted from my project and the most recent one including today are below; " Your cake was nice and sweet, am proud of you" and she was the first youth to go and bake her own birthday cake and decorated it after I taught them how to bake cake from start to finish, and those i have tutor online see me as their mentor. Its a wonderful experience when you realize someone has the full knowledge about who you are. Measures I adopt to evaluate success and impacts include their satisfactory feedback in the form of chats, texts, their works through photos, audio or video messages, periodic fellow-ups on their progress of idea development and business activity, their learning outcomes in the case of students and their photos displaying their practical works. We plan and make a follow up on the selected youths who have gone through GLOBAL ICONS YOUTH ENTREPRENEURSHIP TUESDAY.
Sustainability and future plans
The business model of the project is entirely on business management and entrepreneurship under food processing, catering and confectionary. As a consultant, we operate both a service and a product, packaged in the form of skills acquisition trainings, mentoring, seminars, personal coaching and sale of written books in the areas of specialization. Our main audience are teenagers ranging from 13 years to 19, youths ranging from 20 years to 35, young adults from 36 years to 45 and others include workers nearing retirement. Based on this age ranging, the desire to serve, the limited resources I operate with and the impact stories from people I have engaged actively, we provide very minimal priced to free ranged services to support the financial needs and operations of the projects. The sales from my books are also reimbursed to cater for operational expenses as well as coaching many more people to achieve the objectives outlined in sync with the sustainable development goals on decent work and education within the 36 States of Nigeria and across the Africa continent. I am an Agriculturist, but decided to focus on entrepreneurship, life coach, mentoring and speaker, even before the drafting of the SDGs, hence my level of commitment in seeing to the success of the project and I will keep innovating and seeking for the needed donations, sponsorship or aid, from local government, state government, community chiefs etc, grants, private investors, personal source and media partnerships to solidify the growth and survival of our operations and impacts for the future.
Your profile as an entrepreneur
I am Lily Douere Bandotubo , single and i was born 15th July 1989. I am walking with the aid of steel crutches (physically challenged) from Warri South West Local Government Area in Delta State of Nigeria. I am an Agriculturist, an entrepreneur, an author and a mentor. In 2007, i acquired National Diploma certificate in Agricultural Technology with Upper Credit at Delta State Polytechnic, Ozoro. In 2007, 1 also acquired a certificate in Office Management from Niger Delta Development Commission (Youth Empowerment Programme) with Interlink Technologies and Management Systems (NIIT). In 2010, I gained admission to study Medicine in Niger Delta University, Wilberforce Island Bayelsa State but unfortunately I could not cope after surgery on my lower limbs and that led into Entrepreneurship. In the 2015, I applied for Skills Training and Entrepreneurship Programme(STEP) organized by Delta State government. In 2016, i was awarded with the certificate of recognition as the best trainee and awarded with completion of training certificate of Catering and Confectionary under the Skills Training and Entrepreneurship Programme (STEP). In 2017, I also acquired a YALI LEARNS Certificate of Participation under Food Processing at the conference for Emerging Entrepreneurs held from 28th 29th March, 2017 by Omowale Ogunride, director of Field of skills and Dreams and Darcy Fyock Zotter, Public Affairs Officer, U.S Consulate General, Lagos State - Nigeria. I am YALILEARN member and I have acquired various online certificates and I have also been certify with online HTML fundamentals course Certificate 17th November, 2016. I am the author of the book titled POETRY OF INSPIRATION WITH COMMENTARY ON WORDS OF WISDOM, VOLUME 1, published 2010. I am the Project Manager of GLOBAL ICONS YOUTH ENTREPREURSHIP TUESDAY(on faceback page) of different skills to empower youths.
