"I Love my Cali"

This is a campaign create and performed by the foundation international green one year and half now, sense January of the 2016 in Cali/Colombia. I love my Cali is a social, environmental and civic culture strategy that look to establish co-responsibility, solidarity, sympathy and better conscience; In other words, it is a campaign to generate changes in the behavior of people, anchoring new habits that contribute to the improvement of the environment, a movement of respect for the public legacy and nature. This campaign have innovation aspects, the first of them is constancy, we are doing interventions as platform for volunteers every 15 days, chasing being very constant in our goal of promoting, educated and sensitive citizenship, belonging and respect for the environment and public heritage. Second, different thematic that we took, we have set up a schedule with the topics so that people can volunteer on that most sensitizes them, planting trees, cleaning rivers and parks, recovering areas of public space, beautifying the houses in popular and poverty neighborhoods. Third, the partnership between the people, the public sector, private enterprise and government, all as one community focused in two formats of this program; the first one involved the entire community of Cali to participate in big space that needs a lot of hands and mostly are legacy places of this city, such as eco parks, rivers of the city, tourist sites. In the second format, search the participation of the people that live in the neighborhood and are the direct beneficiaries. This are small place compared to the first format. In order to generate the appropriation of the intervened spaces and generate social sympathy in the community.
Impact of your enterprise on sustainable development
Here we accomplish and work hard for this elements of ours: We look to sensitize the people about climate change and lifestyle habits of a person that accelerates the damage of our natural resources, switch for a community that works and lives sustainably. We look the equality in rules with same rights to have a healthy environment with the same conditions for all regardless of neighborhood and communes of this city, no matter race, ethics or status. Be part of a city that is clean and pleasant to habit and be visited. Allow and helping these natural resources fulfill their environmental function Human development, a territory where Respect and civic culture are exercised. Generate a greater and positive environmental impact with the planting of a greater amount of trees Global transforming actions Achievements: •We have positioned ourselves as one big civic campaigns in the city, where people have constant options to participate as volunteers. • We have completed 24 actions for the city in a year and seven months • We had a participation of more than 4,500 people • We have plant so far 3000 trees • We have removed more than 300 cubic meters of waste in rivers and parks • We painted more than 200 square meters of public space • We have improved 280 square meters of faces, stucco and painted 14 houses of popular neighbor low-income families. •Most important we achieve a big impact in others in such a way that we have noticed a more active participation among the people, a response in the respect and petition of respect for what we have built and that we hope to continue replicating throughout Colombia.
Sustainability and future plans
We create a schedule based on the knowledge of the city's environmental department to organize the date of each activity and the type of intervention of the whole year: planting, cleaning of rivers, mural painting, home beautification of people with low resources. Then we present it to the companys and they make their donation according to their interests or concern with the city and they give money or materials. first time a month the first format ( turist, legacy or big spaces 350 people or more ), and the second time on the month with second format ( neighborhood with no more of 100 people) We want promote among us the sense of belonging for this topic that hurts us so much to educate our friends and families about this, promote fair laws, fair consumption, respect for the public patrimony and beautification of places that involve us. We want equality we do interventions in popular, risky and gray places to clean, educated people who live there, involved on this activities and we help them with volunteers to improve the face of the houses, small business as much as we can. Pull out the “gray, dark and bad looking neighbor” and change it for a tourist, good and colorful neighborhood. This created equality, better opportunities, born more small business, encourage to undertake goals, and the most important faith and new start. Anything of this was possible without the help of the public and private entities that give us the elements to take this beautiful journey; But we need more alliances because we ran out our of resources. The vision of foundation international green is to extend this mission to places, more days and tools in our hands, be in 2018 in 2 cities more of Colombia.
Your profile as an entrepreneur
My name is alejandro silva i live and born in Cali/colombia. i have 30 years old, i found the international green foundation in april 24 2014. i made 2 what i called "green run" to plant 500 trees in each ocasion. in 2016 i star the campaing "i love my Cali" because I saw that my city was becoming small in green areas, 70% of the trees had been cut either by business or because they were in poor condition. That hurt me enormously because I lived in a very large and green place, i always had that concern for the environment. so I decided the im not gonna be a spectator instead an active participant of a moment of environmental awareness that the world needs, to learn and to be part of this became my obsession. My foundation is transparent, all the resources that we were given have been used only for the purpose of the foundation, I as a person I have not had the opportunity to pay me as Ceo of this non-profit oganization. My determination and my passion to see a more sustainable, equiality sympathy and inclusive world is one of my qualities that have led to this organization up to this moment and all the goals that we hope became real. I trust that this strategy really is replicable is any part of the world and that it really works to change the course where global warming is coming. In less than a month, the largest newspaper in Cali made an article of our campaign and many media sought us, helped this campaign reach many more people and even create programs very similar to ours, which not it bothers me, make me glad create something that is expanded by places that I can not reach.
