Modern Secondary School of Excellence (MSSE)
Explain your idea in details:
The objectives of this idea are: - To offer the highest level of secondary education in Zambia and this can be achieved when pupils are in a boarding school. - To provide practical lessons in ICT, Science and also deliver the best content of mathematics to the learners. - To generate employment opportunities for teachers and other supporting staff. - To help the government achieve the goal of quality education by 2030. - To offer quality education at an affordable fee. Modern Secondary School of Excellence (MSSE) will be providing ICT and science practical lessons using the modern computer and science lab which will be built. The government of the republic of Zambia introduced ICT as a compulsory subject at junior section and emphasis was made to offer ICT at senior section as well but this is not happening because schools do not have computers in order for ICT lessons to effectively take place. The school as the name implies Modern Secondary School of Excellence will be a unique secondary school, different from the already existing schools by offering practical subjects with the equipment needed. Much emphasis will be put on ICT, Science, Mathematics and other subjects of importance. The school will have a Modern computer and Science Laboratories to enable excellence and maintain the highest standard of education in the country. The school will have more pupils (learners) because we will have qualified teachers, the school will be offering practical lessons which other schools are not doing because they dont have resources to buy the equipment needed. The strategy is to offer quality education by using qualified and Teaching Council of Zambia (TCZ) Registered teachers. The school will also be a shining example of how private schools should be run and organised.
Expected impact of your idea on sustainable development
Modern Secondary School of Excellence (MSSE) targets pupils (learners) from grade eight to grade twelve (secondary education). The other targeted group of people will be the General Certificate of Education (GCE) learners. These are students who wrote their grade twelve final examinations but did not perform well and they would like to improve their results. The major reason why students fail is because they do not learn practical lessons which they only do in an examination. GCE students will be learning in the morning and in the afternoon. This idea of incorporating GCE learners is in line with the 2030 vision of education for all. Modern Secondary school of Excellence will help the government of Zambia to archive the 2030 vision of quality education by providing all the necessary skills and knowledge needed. This will be achieved by employing qualified teachers, teaching practical lessons and offering the best mathematics content. The success of this school will be seen when the first group of learners write their examination. Learners will perform extremely well because the school will have all the necessities to make a pupil gain knowledge and pass an examination and put that knowledge in practice.
Plans for implementation and sustainability
Modern Secondary School of Excellence (MSSE) will be offering secondary education from grade eight to grade twelve. The school will be a boarding secondary school. The reason why the school will be a boarding school is that the school should have learners with a fresh mind in the morning when going for class. Most day school pupils do not perform well because sometimes they are asked to do certain tasks at home before going to school and this makes them tired and the levels of concentration reduces due to fatigue. The above mentioned problem can be avoided if pupils are in a boarding school. The business model supports profitability using the following ways: 1. School fees 2. Poultry projects (this will be done by pupils when learning Agriculture science) 3. Fishing projects. (this will also be done by pupils when learning Agriculture science) Poultry and fish ponds will be very large in order for the pupils to gain more experience. The surplus from the poultry and fish pond products will be offloaded to the market to allow the school generate income in addition to school fees. Modern Secondary School of Excellence (MSSE) will be providing secondary education and it will therefore, rely on all primary schools for the supply of learners.
