Overcome Hunger Among Us Through Let's Eat
Project Details
Explain your idea in details:
Lets eat is my conceptual delicatessen which provide and sell low-cost food for poor people, especially near my house. The main objective could not be separated away from SDGs goal Zero Hunger which propose to overcome all kind of hunger among people. Then, this delicatessen means to try and ensure poor people whom have less money could eat three times in a day with nutritional food in order to establish their stamina again for their life and guarantee them from hunger. By paying $ 1 US Dollar (Rp 13.500), they could access and eat three times in a day, namely, breakfast, lunch, and dinner. And also, I will provide fruit and beverages for every meal. For the specific time itself when they could buy the food, this delicatessen will open three times in a day, breakfast (06:0009:00), lunch (12:0015:00), and dinner (18:0021:00). Like the ordinary ones, my delicatessen aims to sell low-cost food for poor people. But, I would like to make some changes, especially in purchasing mechanism where they will obtain a card to support it. This card will adopt tap-cash system where the buyers (poor people) could top up the balance at the shop and then, tap it onto the card reader if they would like to buy the food. The purpose of this card is to avoid miss-targeting from the buyers and could be straight to the right people. Then, for another innovation, we will provide health corner with standard weight-in tools and among other to check their physical appearances development. I will place some of this delicatessen staff in this specialization and stay ready to help them to see their health progress weekly. The progress will be saved in the same card with tap-cash card and could be used as further health recommendation.

If we look back at to my summary, this delicatessen is oriented to poor people who have less money to buy food, especially near my place. For further and specific target of poor people themselves, I identify them into five main types, namely scavengers, beggars, orphans, decrepit, and homeless. Although many people will ask me how to ensure that they are kind of poor people, the easiest indicator to identify them by looking at to their physical appearances. And also, I would like to make a card for each of them (the target) which include their identity and their health track record in order to validate the targets as one of the mentioning type before. Then, due to this delicatessen also emphasizes its food nutritional content, one of our successful measurement could be achieved if the target (poor people) feel fitter than before after eating at here frequently. The meaning of fit in this context does not suppose to overcome hunger only, but also make their body healthier and be able to absorb maximum energy to run their life. In order to measure and evaluate that goal, I would use two main parameters, those are survey and health track progress. For the first parameter, I would talk with some different targets about this delicatessen, start from the food, price, and anything which relates to it. This could be our further evaluation in order to develop my delicatessens scope and be able to help more people. The second parameter to measure that achievement by recording their health track progress. Like the previous answer about my innovation delicatessen, I will provide health corner and monitor their progress by my staff weekly. If they achieve proportional body mass index and among others, I could count it as my success.

For the first step, This delicatessen will operate at a small shop which depends on my financial budget for this entrepreneurship. In order to attract the targets, firstly, I will give free food for them near my house and persuade them to come there, at the same time, I explain the advantages if they eat at my delicatessen. Then, l will apply tap-cash system where every buyers will receive a card (its like what I explain in previous question) and they could top up the balance at the shop. The purpose of this innovation is to ease my way in identifying my potential buyers and avoid miss-targeting. For the main funds itself, I conceptualize and divide into three sources, namely personal money, voluntary donation, and angel investors. Personal money absolutely utilizes my own money as the first fund source to build up this delicatessen and maintain its operational needs. If this delicatessen starts enlarging and developing into deeper scope, voluntary donation will be my secondary option in case to handle those needs. I will be very happy if they would like to help me for this thing. Then, I will also make approaches to angel investors in order to be main sponsors and be able to give extra fund for this delicatessen. In order to run this delicatessen, I would ask my family and some of my trusted friends for this case. This decision could not be separated away from their business instinct and their spirit to make a change for humanity, especially if we talk about Zero Hunger goal. For further task, I am still planning for effective strategy to enlarge this scope after making-up the first step (promote this delicatessen to poor people) and hopefully, it could help more people who need this entrepreneurship.

Good morning ladies and gentlemen, my name in Gallant Fajar Rahmadan. I was born in Jakarta, 26 December 1999, so now, Im 18 years old. For my current educational level, Im international relations student in University of Indonesia. Although there is no significant background from my family in succeeding Zero Hunger goal, my father has been participating for another SDGs goal Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure as one of Indonesian delegation in ILO in 2015. For the motivation itself, my first emphasis for this case could not be separated away from my concern for poor people whom have less money to buy food. When I were asking some questions to certain poor people about their daily eating time, they told that they ate once or two times every day. Although they said that they had money to buy three times food in a day for their selves, it's still not sufficient for their family and other primary needs. They had to save their money and still worked in extra time, at the same time, they sacrifice their health and trapped on hunger. The average food cost in Jakarta which could reach $1 US Dollar (Rp 13.500) for every pack of meal still be an obstacle for them to eat three times in a day and eat nutritional food. Based on this portrait of life, we could see how hard this life is. Although I have no experience in this case, my fighting spirit to spread out love and uphold humanity will be my mind priorities to run these all. Then, I will attract and persuade my friends and family to join me here, at the same, we could start developing our entrepreneurship skill. But, I still emphasize that humanity is above all to succeed Zero Hunger goal.

Happy to meet you through this competition!!! and i have learnt many things by going through your idea.
The efforts you have taken to bring up this idea is stupendous and inspiring many budding entrepreneurs like me. We are competitors just for the sake of this competition, but on a broader picture we all are the future reformers and businessmen/ businesswomen. We shall be proud of ourselves as we are not selfish to think only about money earning, instead we integrate the talent with a Sustainable development goals and that is really commendable and a rarity in this generation. Your delicatessen is an interesting idea. Besides fruit and beverage, what will you offer for breakfast, lunch, and dinner? How will you source the ingredients for each dish? I am asking only because I started up a School Farm last year and learnt that all the organic vegetables from one planting-harvesting cycle arent enough for one lunch at a school with 481 students! I realise that the farm must be utilised as a learning lab for the students rather than a food provider or a sustainable business. Thank you for commenting and asking a question. Probably, i could say like this. This delicatessen provides low-cost food which aims to poor people only. For the criteria itself, you could check this out in my explanation. Then, your statement is correct where it provides three meals in a day for them.
For your question itself, i don't have a way and provide any occupation as an exchange of food. Why do i choose this? Because, my concentration is the high price of food in my country which is almost unreachable for them. Then, based on exploration and survey in field, they have money to buy food, but at the same time, they have to fulfill their other needs, for example house rent, water, and among others. So, they sacrifice their health to save money for those needs. In conclusion, I build up a delicatessen for them because the core of urgency is not the money, but their worry to overprice of food.

Thank you for Commenting and asking a question. For the source of the capital itself, my first step is by using my own personal money and raising from voluntary donation. If i could see progressive development, I will cooperate and make a proposal to angel investors as my potential extra fund for this delicatessen. Then, my delicatessen is oriented to food production, but I don't close an opportunity for anyone whom wants to donate their money for this delicatessen development.

Then, I'm still in work and among others, so I could not ensure that I will do very well in middle-up pressure and probably, i have to unchain one of these things. Thank Your for commenting and asking a question. It's a nice question from you and i would like to reply like this. I choose $ 1 US Dollar (Rp 13.500) is our standard food cost in Indonesia (my country). This will be different if this delicatessen is implemented in other countries which means they have different standard too. For the benefit from the food cost itself, I will cut the distribution flow stage in order to get cheaper foodstuff which means it could minimize the cost of production too.
Then,for the rent itself, my first step before it starts enlarging and widening is by placing it in the area where poor people always come and go. The most potential place i could chose for this step is in the area of mosque where the poor people pray at it and mosque board will be open for this . If i have gained extra fund from angel investors, voluntary donation, and start developing well, it will be possible to rent a shop as my fixed delicatessen place.

What a fantastic idea you got here. Having a platform where $1 can provide three squaremeals daily is such a great one. I'm concerned though about the cost of purchasing and preparation, rents, and overheads... Would $1 be profitable? I trust you have looked into this. But i hope you do so again factoring all cost.
Also that App to avoid mistargetting would be fantastic. Do take a look at my idea also (CATFISH Africa) and share your thoughts also.

Then, I'm still learning more about tap-cash mechanism and the card itself. Probably, it will start around December or next year in order to fix this all.

Thank You for commenting and asking about this delicatessen. If i elaborate the definition of "poor people" itself, it is could not be separated away from "Lack of Access". Then, If I refer again and re-define it in the context of my idea, probably I could say like this "They have lack of access to food because they have less money to buy it". So, the definition of "poor people" itself is relative and flexible, it depends on the context
For the criteria itself, i categorize poor people into 5 main types, those are Scavengers, Orphans, Beggars, Decrepit, and Homeless. Why I could conclude these all into "poor people"? I refer these all, based on my country where they have less money to buy food which could reach approximately $ 1 US Dollar for a pack of meal. Then, How do I know they are part of those types? The easiest thing for me by looking at to their physical appearances where almost everyone has sense of felling for this thing. Then, I could use survey and field trip method in order to map my potential buyer, at the same time, avoid miss-targeting (non-poor people). Hopefully, it could answer your question.

Your food store concept is very good, especially to help poor people, let alone they only need to pay 1 USD for three meals, and your next ideas about this. Thank You Fajar for your appreciation. For the mechanism itself, I will place some of my staff to stay there and interact with the people. But, before it goes far, I will give them medical training or something else which could support them in handling this situation. Then, the health corner will open and close together with the delicatessen itself, so it will be more effective and efficient. Probably, this could answer your question and give the overview about it.

Hallo Gallant, I have read your idea about "Let's Eat". Your idea is really great and try to catch-up poor people as your target. Then, your innovation seems new for me with "Let's Eat Card" as multi function card, for tap-cash system and identity card.
