Ju-bal Music Academy
Explain your idea in details:
IDEA Our Idea is to build a web app and a mobile App for The Ju-bal music Academy. This application would be a freeware, cross-platform, instant messaging and Voice over IP service App. The application will allow the direct communication of students with lecturers through text, voice calls, video calls and media sharing. The features of the app would be tailored to ensure that, users experience an easy and effective learning process. Users will be able to take both theory and practical tests and examinations within the app and afterwards receive a certificate. We tested our methods using third party apps WhatsApp and Telegram. Starting with WhatsApp Groups, we got over 500 interested students willing to pay a monthly fee to receive lessons via WhatsApp. However, we realised early that the WhatsApp group limit of 250 persons was going to be a hindrance considering the kind of responses we got. So we decided to move the classes to telegram, which works just like WhatsApp but which can accommodate more than 5000 people in a group. On this telegram group we were able to accommodate more students. Eventually we had close to 1500 students on our telegram group, though we encountered some major problems still; When new students joined a class we had to go back to the beginning of the class to bring them up to date. Also we could not control the payment method which was only through bank deposit. We realised that these Problems could only be solved by building a well-tailored mobile app. Our methods though have proved workable and considered more effective because we've been able successfully complete the train of over 200 students and also complete an intended one year music course in a space of 3 months
Expected impact of your idea on sustainable development
Our aim is to ensure that music education is easily accessible and affordable to all, by introducing a new form of digital learning which infuses instant messaging services that simulates a classroom being handled by a teacher, Quiz module and Assignments after each class, Video calls, audio calls and media sharing - which aid both teachers and students in passing detailed information to each other - on their phones/computers. This will help to bring music education closer to the people and also make it easy to learn at their own pace. This method of music education will empower many Aspiring musicians who can't afford to pay for expensive music schools, Choristers/Church Instrumentalist who would love to learn and be gainfully employed in big churches and gospel events, Secondary and University students who are tied down by school, Working Class Adults/Corporate Executives who simply do not have adequate time to attend music classes and already established musicians/celebrities who would love to improve their skills and broaden their overall musical knowledge to ensure that they remain relevant in the industry. After realizing that the acquiring of vocational education and skills acquisition, has been neglected in many academic curricula in African schools we decided to take this method a step further by building a platform where experts in different fields of vocational education can come and use our platform and methods to teach students who are interested in vocational education/skills acquisition training. This will help in eradicating idleness from our African youths thereby, promoting socioeconomic growth and improving the lives and living conditions of many Africans.
