Explain your idea in details:
IUpCycle is a WasteForProfit upcycling startup that aims to make profit by utilizing the durability of plastics. They do this by converting waste plastic materials into commercially viable products, utilizing environmentally friendly methods and raising waste consciousness among the public through these products. ACTIVITIES: Committing host community members to recycle plastic waste with already existing recycling companies. Receiving a percentage of the total plastic waste collected from my households at a discount from the recycling companies. Converting the plastic waste to in-demand and cheap goods such as bangles, earrings, shopping bags and raincoats etc. Introducing the goods to the market through the local retailers. Recollecting the goods when they become waste to the public and utilizing their full value before sending to the recycling center. Raincoats and Shopping bags created from post-consumer pure water sachets. Other upcycled goods still in testing phases such as waterproof papier mache bowls and cups, plastic handbags etc. Product Description: The jewelry will be created from post-consumer polyethylene terephthalate (PET) bottles while the shopping bags and raincoats will be created from Low Density Polyethylene (LDPE) nylons. Both materials will be cleaned and sterilised. After which they will be separated for their respective purposes. The PET bottles will be cut into different shapes and sizes using . My name is Sonia Onyenaturuchi Ugwunna. I am eighteen years old. I was born on the 9th of July, 2000. I graduated from secondary school in 2015. I grew up in a community where Pure water sachets and black nylon bags were the most used plastic. The community's inability to afford a waste disposal system caused us to create our own landfill. The landfill's growth extended to the canal blocking the water passage with non biodegradable plastics. This caused flooding of houses in proximity to the canal like mine. My environmental journey started in October 2017 when I became a volunteer with Wecyclers. Since then, I have represented Susty Vibes and Africa Cleanup Initiative in various Cleanups and Rallies. I recently started joining ActionGX in their school tours. I also won the 2018 Write4Climate Essay Competition. I am currently being mentored by the cofounder of RecyclePoints . I intend to study Urban Planning: how we can implement affordable, accessible and convenient waste disposal systems in existing cities.
