TROVI (Trash Art Souvenir)
Explain your idea in details:
MAIN OBJECTIVES: (1) SDG#15, to conserve the beaches in Indonesia. (2) SDG#8, to develop creative economic opportunities. TROVI (Trash Art Souvenir) is an innovative product which is made from trash which in turn helps grow the creativity of citizens. This idea uses both humans trash and beachs trash. TROVI is made from trash and is crafted into unique and attractive souvenirs. Any kind of trash can be recycled but this is unique, because this is a souvenir that has dual function and this is so rare. Those functions are; for display, which contains aesthetic value and for applied, which contains environment conservation value. This creates many products, like tissue boxes from sea shells, ashtrays from coconut shells, miniature from paper, glass baskets from drink sachets, paintings from used bottle and other products. To make ashtray; cut the coconut shells into two pieces by using saw, use sandpaper to refine all surfaces, make two holes to set a bolt using the tip of knife, beautify by paint it using natural colours. To make miniature; submerged paper in water, press while add white glue, pour into mold, dry in the sun, paint with tint. To make painting; clean the used bottle, make the sketch using marker, paint the beachs panorama and write some notes. Only simple tools which are used in this process. So, the method of beach conservation and development will not be monotonous. Through TROVI, a citizen will be trained to have an artistic skills that can create these products.
Expected impact of your idea on sustainable development
TROVI affects two Sustainable Development Goals: SDG#15 Life On Land and SDG#8 Decent Work And Economic Growth. These goals are significant aspects for a better country. Indonesia has many attractive beaches. The Ministry of Tourism state that Indonesia has around 600 beaches. But, there are environmental damages which are mainly caused by trash. No wonder if the natural disater often occured. This situation is compounded by the apathy of the citizens in utilizing trash that actually can be a more valuable thing. Environmentally based innovations will make it as a beneficial sector. IMPACT: TROVI will certainly decrease even stop these damages in the beach. Based on that explanation, TROVI offers an appropriate solution to overcome environment problems. So, this is an effective idea that will make the land become beautiful, pure, health, orderly and the most important clean. To achieve the whole impact, TROVI should be sustained continuously. IMPACT: The resurrection or the decline of citizens economy around the beach is strongly depended by the beach development. While beach included as tourism sector and tourism sector increase Indonesias income. TROVI is a prospective effort which could be develop as long as contour beach in this world. So, this will resurrect economic quality of the citizen, because the trash as pollutant becomes a job creator. The conclution, TROVI has two impacts that cannot be separated anymore. Here are some MEASURES TO EVALUATE SUCCESS: The quantity of beach which will be conserved by TROVI and the Indonesia prosperity level which affected by economic development.
Plans for implementation and sustainability
I have observed many environmental communities in my city and there is one community which complies with the qualifications that is Scrapbook. I will partner with this community, because it already has many experts in producing various handicraft. One of strategy to implement TROVI is modified ticket procedure. This modification is profitable for both sides (the tourist and the local citizen). The tourists can enter the beach freely, but when they leave, they must collect unorganic or dry organic trash from around the beach area as the ticket substitue. Then, the experts and I will recycle this trash and make them into handicrafted souvenirs. This circulation is simple, just Ticket Substitution Crafting Trash -- Sale Profit. This will be repeated again and again until the end of the day. The profit from these sales can be used to manage and conserve the beach. By managing the trash to make it into valuable things, we are already helping to implement two SDGs at once. If there is trash, there will always be funds. FINANCING: To manufacture one tissue box it need USD 1 and sale for USD 2; To manufacture ashtray it need USD 1 and sale for USD 2; To manufacture miniature it need USD 2 and sale for USD 3; To manufacture glass basket it need USD 5 and sale for USD 15; To manufacture painting it need USD 2 and sale for USD 5. That financial capital is allocated to buy the tools or as salary afterward. It only required at first and we could get it from charity. If the production takes one week, every month one person can get net profit at least USD 64. Through this, the unemployment rate in Indonesia will improve and it will be a big contribution for national economic development.
I was born in Tulungagung, Indonesia on May 20th 2000. I graduated from State Islamic high school 1 Tulungagung as the best and cumlaude student. During my school years, I often joined and won many competitions in English and diplomacy realm. Those are Winner of Scientific Paper, Winner of Speech Contest, Runner Up of Parliamentary Debate, 3rd Winner of English Olympiad, Semi-finalist of Spelling Bee and many achievements more. I like challenging experience and learning something new. My father work as a teacher. My mother works as a seller. I am a helpful person. Not only help my family but also help my friend and society. As the proverb from my region said, success is coming when we help each other. After I knew about the condition of the beaches in my city and most of citizens habit in littering, I became passionately encouraged to save the beaches in my country. My observation of some cities showed that a lot of citizens live in poverty. I also observed that there are many laborers but few job vacancies. That is a pity. Data from BPS (Central of Statistics Agency) 2017 shows that in one year, the unemployment rate in Indonesia increased to 10.000 citizens. Since I am an adroit youth especially in public speaking, I believe that I am able to influence other people about applying the idea of TROVI which can conserve the beach and develop economic quality. I have good relations with some people who are technically skilled. They will accelerate the project of TROVI.
