Mobile Cardiologist: Monitoring and Preventing heart failures using E-health methods and smart defib
Explain your idea in details:
Mobile Cardiologist, a cardiovascular monitoring system focused on the electro activities of the heart and a defibrillator. It is composed of a device and an operating application which can be installed on a Smartphone or a Website platform. We offer the hardware and Software solution, which together give a complete care. We mean cost-effectiveness, sustainability and accessibility. - Hardware solution: Mobile Cardiologist provides two important functions in a portable size single device. These features make this device unique and competitive in the market. Its size of 16 x 10 x 2.5 cm increases the portability, similar to that of Smartphone. Surely Mobile Cardiologist is designed to be intuitive and simple for its usages. For the electrocardiogram the person knowledge is based only on the disposition of electrodes and the device will elaborate and store automatically the ECG waves using Bluetooth connection through our mobile application. While the usage of defibrillator is the same of the traditional one, the rescuer must connect the two Defibrillator pads and place them on simple specific locations. We have thought also about a basic training and education on these simple lifesaver procedures, in fact we offer full instructions package and tutorials about CPR and our product, on the app and website. - Software Solution: The software side of this device works on prevention and the fast rescue system. The patients have both Smartphone application and website access as User interfaces. The app works as a virtual advisor monitoring the User lifestyle activities that can be consulted and shared with the personal doctor for an evaluation. The app is capable to elaborate the ECG data received and make it sharable to the doctor, who automatically can monitor the patient trend daily, weekly and monthly without traveling long distances and in turn prescribe medicines online.
Expected impact of your idea on sustainable development
Mobile Cardiologist was made to achieve all its missions in order to reduce on the negative impact of nowadays problems considering the four critical ones detected during our research. We want to provide people from middle-low income countries with an affordable and accessible device, considering that 80% of deaths happen in less developed countries. The reasons of this huge death toll are essentially related to a difficult access to basic healthcare services, so why the people who are in most need of care is also the least likely to get it? Mobile Cardiologist will contribute to fix this inequality, reaching low-income countries and ensuring low-cost ECG screening and defibrillator to the heart patients, who finally will be able to receive an acceptable Healthcare. In addition, with the Smartphone app we aim to enhance patients and doctors ties and promote daily sport activities and diets providing healthy food. The software part plays an educative role in order to develop the awareness of a country society on Cardio-vascular diseases and on a healthy lifestyle. We bring prevention, education on BLS, advice on food and physical activities, equality and rescue to the forgotten and disadvantaged societies worldwide who need a change in their life. The first step to see whether the system works, we will build a platform which organizes BLS courses in the developing countries aiming to build an aware population. Knowledge will bring prevention. Collaboration with local doctors and healthcare organization will make possible the first device distribution in some targeted cities as a shareable one.
Plans for implementation and sustainability
We developed Mobile Cardiologist using and considering reliable information and statistics obtained, from the main Italian HealthCare company of USL Toscana and from Uganda Heart institute representing Uganda, which consulted our project personally deciding to help with acknowledgement in our field. We have interviewed health professionals, especially Cardiologists, BLS rescuers and heads of the department of the paramedics. Many worldwide statistics are provided by World Health Organization (WHO). Finally, Vital Team found important for a future and accurate development a meeting with local humanitarian organizations which have shared their personal experiences in third world countries focusing on Healthcare status and current medical equipments. This has helped us on fix our feasibility and focus on our target market in those areas. According to their sources there is at least one place with Wi-Fi connection in many rural villages. Finally, we consulted a psychologist from whom we got information about people habit of self-diagnosis towards the web, leading us developing the community platform. In addition the project is consulting and talking with local rescue volunteers of the Emergency department, in order to plan a first AED mapping app or phone number, starting from cities. Our prototype is tailored for second and third world countries either with public and private healthcare and for people that do not face ICD surgery for economic or psychological motivations. Patients will not be able to drive or attend physical activities temporary or forever as consequence of the invasive surgery. The advantageous cost of 199 Euros makes Mobile Cardiologist unique considering nowadays competitors which sell defibrillators and ECG with an average of 1400 Euros. We aim to sell Defibrillator with the software support everywhere as a sharable device in rural villages or as people personal device. We did a financial plan and a competitor analysis.
I am 18 years old Italian student. I am actually studying scientific subjects and looking forward to follow engineering studies involving sustainable developments and E-Health. I am CEO and technical manager of my project "Mobile Cardiologist" born in 2017 with the aim to develop a real social innovation in my community. My international activities have born when I started cooperation with my teammate from Uganda, aged 18 too. This cooperation made possible the exploration of "developing countries" from the point of view of HealthCare and market opportunity. In my country I have support and collaboration with USL in (terms of providing Cardiologist contacts), the national Italian health care system. I had the possibility to interview several cardiologists (Glauco Magini) in order to know the views towards this project. I am a member of the Emergency rescue department developing feasible software solutions in order to improve rescue procedures in the region. I have been interviewed by an Italian television after participating as a winner in a European competition in the Netherlands. June 2018-EYE Volunteer in Strasbourg. I have taken part in "Smart E" conference in the International fair in Pisa, about Innovation perspectives in the Robotics. I met the head of "Italian National research center" in Pisa and get involved in a university environment. In January 2018, I have participated to the Diamond Challenge, a worldwide entrepreneurship competition in the USA, getting in touch with worldwide entrepreneurs of the program. In May 2018, applying to PeaceFirst competition in Boston, the project got selected and given a small aid for further developments and collaborations are still in action. Efforts, determination and receive "heart patients" smile is the key. Working for a better world is my (our) way.
