Peace on Earth
Explain your idea in details:
The main objective of the idea is to lessen (if not fully eradicate) discrimination of other nationalities and/or cultures by allowing individuals of different ethnicities, races and cultures to work together to combat against a common adversary of all peoples: climate change. Activities will include seminars and workshops regarding climate action and how combating its effects could be the medium for a united world. Other activities will include field immersions in the countries severely suffering from the effects of climate change, "peace-on-earth talks" which will be an assembly of youth from different countries gathering to discuss about unified youth action against climate change and could also be a place to share support and resources, information drives, and the establishment of a World Peace Tree-ty (treaty) in which youth representatives from all around the world gather together to plant trees and take an oath to continue to promote peace among nations through working against climate change.
Expected impact of your idea on sustainable development
The targets of the idea are as follows: 1.) To gather youth from all over the world together for an international event on peace through climate action 2.) To conduct activities that will promote youth action against climate change 3.) To conduct an international Peace-on-Earth Talks that will allow youth to discuss ideas, projects and innovative ways to combat climate change and reduced inequalities among all nations. 4.) To establish a World Peace Treee-ty The number of projects conducted and completed will be counted. Effectivity of the goals could be assessed through surveys among the participants as well as the communities in which activities have been conducted. More scientific methods may also be used for researches which are conducted in line with the idea.
Plans for implementation and sustainability
Sustainability will be ensured through the establishment of an organization which will handle the conduct and organization of events, receive and distribute donations and resources and create partnerships and linkages with organizations with the same goals as the Peace on Earth events.
I'm Titus Canete, 20 years of age. I've lived in the Philippines and have a deep passion for the environment, especially that of the marine world (I love to dive). I've been participating in and organizing events that promote youth climate action (Like PowerShift Philippines). I was also able to stop our city from releasing hundreds of sky lanterns as they could damage both terrestrial and marine life. Lately though, I have been exposed to many cultures around the world by volunteering at an Eco Hostel run by a German friend and have realized the need for reduced inequalities among nations. I figured that we could possibly reduce such discrimination by allowing people of different races and cultures to work together against a common threat, and I was able to mix my love for the environment to the idea as climate change is a dilemma faced by all people regardless of race, gender and whatever. My love for the environment and meeting new people of different cultures motivate me to become a better person both for the planet and for the people (and animals) that live within.
