Expected impact of your idea on sustainable development
Other than financial rewards our business has rewards on the social sector&the environment. Homes built through Smart Havens Africa are environmentally sustainable as they are constructed from a green &ecological Carbon emission free Building Material SHa Ecobrocks &all are equipped to harvest rainwater. Our products improves awareness of environmental issues, provides ahealthy living environment & increases housing affordability principally for low-Moderate income families thus enabling them to own an asset which they use to access credit & financing. By training and employing Ugandans in Interlocking Soil Stablised Block construction,Smart Havens Africa is spreading this low-cost,low-carbon technology across the country&combatting climate change at its very roots. While wide use of the traditional burnt brick causes mass deforestation across Africa,Our blocks require no wood for firing. At least 20 of Africas increasingly rare mature trees are saved for every Home we build, preserving the countrys fragile biodiversity. Air pollution is dramatically reduced not only by avoiding the combustion process, but also by eliminating the need for transport. Materials can be sourced on site, so the blocks dont need to travel anywhere. Since up to 25% of fired bricks break in the transport process alone, thats a pretty clear advantage! For every House that Smart Havens Africa Builds, we create fifteen temporary Green jobs for women, Masons, Self-Builders and Unemployed youth. We also provide opportunities for young women who want to take up a carrier in affordable housing sector by providing appropriate training and apprenticeship opportunities. Our housing solution ensures that our Clients can own an assert which they can use as a security to secure financing, enjoy stable lives, engage in meaningful employment and still maintain sufficient disposable income to live on and enables individuals/families to secure a pathway to home ownership and make this dream easier to reach.
