DAVE. The graduated sloth
Explain your idea in details:
Aim: to raise awareness among youngsters about the importance of good life choices. Objectives: to make high-school students aware about the impact of their career decisions reflected on the labour market and moreover on their lives. To help the youngsters realize the importance of their life choices and to encourage them to evaluate with a critic eye the similitudes and diferences among countries. Giving the high unemployment rate among youth all over the world, the project aimes to reduce it by making the youth aware of the long term effects of their life choices. Innovative approaches: Once you get to realize that sky is the limit you are one step closer to succed; and also once the young people will realize that they are more than able to draw their own conclusions about labour market, they will be able to think above the prejudices and to compare in the most honest way the needs of different countries, and of themselves and to judge wisely their own life choices and eventually to choose wisely. Also is good to mention that starting from the name of the project, which is choose to emphasize the irony among the lazy nature of a sloth and the achievement of finishing a career, the project is aimed to ilustrate that once you want something you can succed even in a hostile enviroment.
Expected impact of your idea on sustainable development
This project's target will be devided in two micro-targets. The main target will be represented by the youngsters, the high-school students, as the future choice-makers, that could affect on long term the labour market. The second one, the labour market itself, reprezented by big and small firms that will win from this project a good number of future employees that will be driven of to realize something in their future field of work.
Plans for implementation and sustainability
This whole idea will be divided in two main branches: the youth exchange program - aimed to help as much youngsters as possible, and the DAVE brand which will help to raise money and to advertise the program. To begin with, the project was designed for 28 participants, from 14 countries all over the Europe, EU and non EU states, that will be paired (one developed and succesfull (or not) country with one under developing country ), and for 1 week the participants from one country will go the other and viceversa. At the end of this week all the participants will gather in one city (e.g. Berlin) to discuss the guest's and the host's opinions about one country, and how the said country overall economic enviroment could be changed. What's good and what not in said country? And for them to draw some conclusions. But of course if we choose the global perspective about this project, we will enlarge the number of participants, but sticking to the same rules ( developed/ under developing countries). Speaking about financing resources, the money will come from three different sources: Participation fee, Erasmus +/ Mundus grant ( if we consider the idea of making it world wide) and advertising of the DAVE brand. That will convert DAVE, in a social rasing awareness program and a world wide known brand. As DAVE will be, at the end of the day, a project about raising the employment rate among youngsters, what better parteners than : high-schools, universities, and firms, basically the all parties interested in the outcome of this project. For example, for making the whole travel between countries process much more easier, two of the partners could be Ryan air and Flix bus, and together to develop e joined campaign : "TRAVEL WITH DAVE".
Hello, my name is Andreea and i'm 22 years old. I've graduated Business and administration, and I defended my thesis about Unemployment Rate among Youth, during the research for my thesis i've come across a lot of cases that were speaking for themselves about how poor life choises taken on youth time, were reflected on poverty during aduldhood. I've been in Erasmus, and i've seen how life changing, and how useful is to live in another country and to compare the pros and cons from your country and the host country. Moreover, I've realize that something like this will be helpful even on an earlier stage of development, for a individual to be able to make up his mind about his future, taking in count all the possible outcomes.
