Nation Unemployed Youths Empowerment Programme (NUYEP)
Explain your idea in details:
NUYEP's main objectives: 1. To help make business set up for unemployed youths easy 2. To provide regular guidance/support for speedy and steady growth of the new businesses 3. To help the new business owners generate business links for growth and expansion 4. To take our youths off the streets through the above mentioned media and more Activities to help us actualize the above objectives include: a. Registration and Admission of aspirants b. Skill Acquisition/Training (SAT) c. Team Creation d. Corporate Environment Management Training (CEMT) e. Business/Financial Management Education (BFME) f. The Empowerment proper Innovative Approaches: The NUYEP system is quite unique because it brings the idea of real partnership to play by selecting youths with like interests/passions, diverse skills/talents, and bringing them together to form a company with each of them having full ownership rights over the business as shareholders. We hope to achieve this through our main activities listed above. This, we hope will aid to reduce the level of unemployment, groom our youths to become great team players and partners and ensure economy building. Our plan is to apply this pattern to a set of 7 youths per company and eventually work, by this means, to empower at least 500,000 youths annually.
Expected impact of your idea on sustainable development
Our major target is Nigeria but we will gradually extend to other African countries and countries of other Continents experiencing similar challenges as time progresses. Now, using Nigeria as a case study; according to a report released by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), the rate of unemployment in Nigeria, rose by over 189.1% from 5.5 million in 2015 to 15.9 million in 2017. And we feel that if this level of increase could occur within the space of just two (2) years, then, our nation would be in deep mess, if in the next five or ten years nothing is about this. But then with a project such as NUYEP in Nigeria, the level of unemployment will definitely reduce by close to half within the next five years since we will be creating more of entrepreneurs other than job seekers. The over 500,000 unemployed youths that we will empower annually through the NUYEP project will become a means of creating job opportunities for the other categories of job seekers. In other words, NUYEP creates entrepreneurs who create jobs. This would impact greatly on the country's economic development as a great number of unemployed youths will get to own companies and provide jobs for job seekers. The impact of this project comes with a ripple effect and will definitely be felt both local and globally when launched.
Plans for implementation and sustainability
Well, this program is at the start up stage. All I do now is to organize seminars and training for interested persons. Also I have created a page on facebook for interested persons to join. It is a program that requires a great cash flow and that is why I am looking for partners/sponsors. I plan to form this into a large network someday so that it works in such a way that the already empowered who are now doing well in their business can make contributions to NUYEP to enable us empower future aspirants. NUYEP will also organize annual business/trade exhibitions where all empower youths come to exhibit their products/services, sponsors are gotten to finance the event. The money generated from this is channeled back into the empowerment of future aspirants. NUYEP in the future may go on to set up other income generating progrmmes to rake in money for the empowerment of unemployed youths.
