After School Program
Explain your idea in details:
The main objective for this program is to keep children in a secure environment while nurturing their talents and gifting. Most children are left unsupervised after school and have nothing to do until their guardians arrive. To avoid children falling into negative behaviors and being mislead, we are designing a program that will keep them occupied and influence them positively. The program covers both the educational, personal, and social aspects of a child's life. We plan on signing up children through their teachers and parents, mainly children who are not performing well academically. Tuition will be provided for them in their different subjects. Together with that, there will be other programs that will enhance all aspects of their lives. Since most parents cannot afford to pay for such services, we plan on hosting holiday camps for students to raise funds for the after school program.
Expected impact of your idea on sustainable development
Our target is primary schools and we will have performance sheets to monitor improvement of each child's life. We will focus on a child's confidence, manners, attitude, and behavior regarding their educational, personal, and relational spheres. The activities planned out will also help us to monitor the child's improvement or decline in their personal and interpersonal spheres.
Plans for implementation and sustainability
Since our target is public schools, most parents will not be able to pay for such services, that is why we will be making it free. To raise funds for it we intend on having similar curricula based camps during school holidays for children who can pay, preferably from private schools. We will also ask for volunteers to reduce the cost of staffing and also ask for donations from different organizations.
I am a lady of 27 years, born March 30th 1991. I finished high school in 2008 and continued to study Association of Accounting Technician (AAT, Level 2). Since 2010 i volunteered with churches and schools to help out with their children. I was placed as director of the children and youth department in 2011 until 2017 when I resigned to start my own recreation centre, Benign Adventure. In those years of volunteering at schools I managed to mentor students and held workshops with them.
