Plastic Timber and Bricks
Explain your idea in details:
Plastic Timber and Bricks are alternative building/construction material made from recycled plastics, wood waste and clay. Plastic Timber and Bricks can be assembled and dissembled at will, which makes it portable and easy to transport. Other advantages are aesthetic appeal, easy to use, durability, value priced, ecologically sustainable because it mitigates and reduces waste pollution and global warming. Other building materials like cement, wood and steel are expensive which makes building projects capital intensive for middle and low income earners. Plastic Timbers and Bricks is the solution for urban housing problems which have resulted in slum build up in major African cities e.g Lagos, Accra, Freetown etc. Plastic Timber and Bricks are cost effective and this is particularly in terms of the life cost of the products due to reduced maintenance and replacement requirements. Houses constructed with plastic timber are fitted with solar roofing sheets making it 100% eco-friendly.
Expected impact of your idea on sustainable development
Plastic Timber and Bricks will have major impact on numbers 8,9,11,12 and 13 of the sustainable development goals. Some key performance indicators to measure impact are listed below; (1) Improved housing and settlements built with plastic timber and bricks for people currently living in slums and shanties. (2) Improved quality of living due to better and conducive living conditions which raises higher self esteem and increases purposeful living. (3) New job opportunities (direct and indirect job opportunities), which will effectively tackle the current state of massive youth unemployment. (4) Increased awareness in adopting and living an eco-friendly lifestyle that is beneficial to people and the entire planet
