Green house farming( a goldmine in Africa)
Explain your idea in details:
Greenhouse commercial farming is rapidly gaining entrance in our world today. Greenhouse farming gives room for greater control over the growing environment of various crops. Dependent upon the technicality and specification of a greenhouse design, some of the important factors which may be controlled include temperature, levels of light and shade, irrigation, fertilizer application, and atmospheric humidity. Basically, Greenhouses are used to overcome shortcomings in the growing qualities of a piece of land, such as a short growing season or poor light levels. In essence, they are designed to improve food production in marginal environments. This is so because Greenhouses enable certain crops to be grown all though the year irrespective of the climatic conditions. Greenhouses are increasingly becoming an important factor in the food supply chain. With over 4000green houses spread over 9000 hectares, 7.2 billion naira worth of food can be produced and 70% exported. Objectives: Objective for Greenhouse farms 1.To produce vegetables and fruits to the tune of 100 tons in the first year. 2.To establish thriving sales relationship with bulk purchaser who market our products. 3.To achieve net profit in year one, increasing in year two, by containing costs and meeting sales goals. 4.To provide quality sales service and products at fair and best possible prices. 5.To be the leading food farm in Nigeria and its environs through the provision of excellent sales services and products. Some innovative approach include: 1.MONITORING AND MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS A machine that allows farmers to get real-time insights into our soil moisture, weather conditions and crop status, wherever we are. 2.IRRIGATION CONTROLLERS AND VALVE CONTROL SYSTEMS A system that gives us the ability to stay in remote control of our entire farm with durable irrigation controllers and easy-to-use mobile and cloud applications. 3.DOSING AND NUTRITION SOLUTIONS SYSTEMS Its Deliver precisely the right amounts of water and fertilizer to grow healthy, timely yields, thereby lower our costs.
Expected impact of your idea on sustainable development
Expected impact of my idea on sustainable development cannot be over emphasized. We dream of time when there will be Zero Hunger and also Decent Work and Economic Growth Currently there are about 780 million Hungry people on earth and unemployment has risen by 50% in the last quarter. With our dreams of creating 4000 greenhouse farms, we will be able to produce food worth over 7.2 billion naira in a year, imagine how much food that will get to every household( zero hunger). Each green house can employ over 40 person each (decent work, economic growth). Our target: Every household consumes produce from farms be it vegetables, and fruits. In essence as commercial greenhouse farmer we should be able to sell our farm produce to as many people/ households as possible. We will ensure that we position our business to attract consumers of agriculture produce not just in Nigeria alone but also other parts of the world which is why we will be exporting some of our farm produce either in raw form or processed form to other countries of the world. Some measures that will be used to evaluate success are as follows: 1.Quality: we will make sure that the quality of our products meet's the standard and taste of our clients. considering the health and hygienes of our clients. 2.Our sales and marketing team will be recruited based on their vast experience in the commercial farms industry and they will be trained on a regular basis so as to be well equipped to meet their set targets and the overall business 3.Financial viability: it is important for organizational survival and growth. However, we wont make this the sole focus of our measurement efforts. 4. Outstanding excellence and performance. 5.Customers and team satisfaction.

My name is laila Azeez, i am the CEO of vennetbimm enterprise, a graduate of Economics from houdegbe north american university, cotonou. Born 19th September 1986. I was raised in Kaduna by farmer/ business parents, hence my passion for farming/ agri-business. I am the 4th of 5 siblings. What has driven my passion further is the current menace going on in my beloved country Nigeria, the killing of farmers by herdsmen. Farmers are now forced to find new ways to farm and produce food. This problem has caused a massive influx of people from the rural areas to the urban Areas thereby causing the need for more food, jobs, and shelter which are the basic needs of human beings. I was recently nominated for izinya ( a group of people who come together to award young women for doing great in their different fields) but I didn't make it through.
