Explain your idea in details:
Our mission: Protect and prevail the quality of life of the communities affected by the growth of the rivers, innovating with new technologies as well as offering employment opportunities and at the same time promoting a culture of recycling. Our product Muro Zalvec: design of ecological soil containment wall and sediment collector for the protection of communities affected by the growth of the rivers product of the increase in rainfall. "Muro Zalvec" will be placed on the banks of the rivers with the purpose that, in the rainy season, avoid the passage of water to nearby communities and at the same time trap all the sediments (with its all new sediment collector mesh) that the river drags to prevent the soil scouring process. The design of our product will depend on the hydrological, hydraulic, topographic and soil mechanics studies prior to its manufacture. "Muro Zalvec" will be manufactured with recycled materials: glass powder as a partial substitute for cement, in order to reduce the environmental impact generated by the production of cement, and rubble as a partial substitute for concrete aggregates (sand and gravel). The use of these materials will reduce the production cost of our product and we will reduce the environmental impact generated by the production of cement and prevent the exploitation of material banks. "Muro Zalvec" will be prefabricated in a Zalvec facility that will be located in the affected community. Each of the activities of "Zalvec", ranging from the collection of glass and rubble to its manufacture and installation, will generate a significant number of new jobs for the inhabitants of the communities where our product is installed.
Expected impact of your idea on sustainable development
In order to reduce the impact generated by the production of cement and the exploitation of material banks, "Muro Zalvec" will be manufactured with concrete based on glass dust and rubble. "Zalvec" will have a department specializing in ecological concrete for sale (Zalvec Concretes) to generate a greater capital income to the company and fulfill our mission; which will have the function of demonstrating that the use of recycled materials as partial substitutes of the components of the concrete does not alter its resistance, resulting in an ecological concrete and lower cost, so that our concrete will be a strong competition with traditional concrete. To collect each of the materials that will be recycled and treated, "Zalvec" will carry out, together with the different municipal mayors, campaigns to collect these materials in order to generate awareness in the population and thus reduce the same waste little by little generated by people. It is worth mentioning that each of the activities carried out in "Zalvec", ranging from the collection of materials to the manufacture and installation of "Muro Zalvec", will generate a high number of new jobs in the town where our product is installed.
Plans for implementation and sustainability
Our main clients will be the dependencies in charge of the protection of the communities and bodies of water; in Mexico they are: the National Water Commission, the Secretariat of Communications and Transportation and the different municipal governments. "Zalvec" will provide a new technique of soil containment that, in comparison to the existing ones, will be effective and will fulfill its mission of protecting communities and in turn will generate employment opportunities and promote a culture of recycling. "Muro Zalvec" will be prefabricated in a Zalvec facility that will be located in the affected community, so that our product will be transported by trucks and the same with all the raw material. "Zalvec" will establish a relationship with each of its clients in such a way that they become our allies; since almost all the information necessary for the manufacture of "Muro Zalvec" about river basins, statistics of meteorological phenomena and geological-topographic data, only possesses the aforementioned dependencies. Our main sources of income will depend on: our ability to treat glass and rubbish so that, in any case, external customers may require the treatment service, our department Zalvec concretes and Zalvec soil mechanics. Likewise, "Zalvec" will carry out independent soil mechanics studies and its main income will be the contracting of our full service for the manufacture of "Muro Zalvec". Our main resources will be all the raw material and the information provided by the dependencies for the manufacture of "Muro Zalvec". The main activities of Zalvec will be: the collection of glass and rubble, treatment of these materials, studies of soil mechanics and everything necessary for the manufacture of our product. "Zalvec" will establish alliances with material distributors, transporters and domestic glass distributors
We are Alejandro Lozano Alfani and Kevin Landeta Coba, both 21 years old, students of the sixth semester of the Civil Engineering educational program of the Faculty of Construction and Habitat of the Universidad Veracruzana, Boca del Rio Campus, Veracruz, Mexico. We are young entrepreneurs concerned about the current situation that exists both in our country and in the world. Day by day we observe how communities suffer from the consequences of climate change and how government agencies do not take the correct measures to prevent them. We want to be one of the few young people who make a difference, we have ambition, motivation and above all, the character to overcome each of the challenges or problems that come our way. In 2017 we participated in the Entrepreneurship Fair of our University, winning the 2nd place with our "Muro Zalvec". Currently, we have the support of the geotechnical department of our University, the Ministry of Communications and Transportation and several municipal governments. We are surprised with the evolution of "Zalvec" and we are close to manufacturing prototypes and testing them.
