The successful use of renewable energy technology in Botswana has given individuals a hard time and requires extensive investigation; however Photovoltaic (PV) technology has been demonstrated (at international level) to be economically and environmentally viable and capable of being employed in large scale. The proposed 1.5MW PV plant is required to be sited on a technically and environmentally feasible site and to this end; Acute has considered land availability, land use capability, fuel availability and costs, grid connection proximity, capacity and strengthening and other aspects related to the feasibility of solar power sites in general. With consideration of these aspects, Acute has identified a site in your District that will suit the requirements for a PV power generating complex. This plan again will act responsible for the countrys national principles of rapid economic growth, social justice, economic independence, sustained development and botho. Botswana experiences some of the highest levels of solar radiation in the world with a DNI (Direct Normal Irradiation) of 2000kWh/m²/year. This is the same for the Kgatleng region. With greatest anticipation to this, this reveals the considerable solar resource potential for solar water heating applications, solar photovoltaic and solar thermal power generation. In context to this project, Acute Energy will focus mainly on the Solar Photovoltaic. This document focuses on the PV plant based photovoltaic technology including all associated infrastructure with a minimum generation capacity of 1.5MW. The public participation process for this project will be vital to this project to avoid stakeholder fatigue. In addition to this, associated infrastructure such as roads, water pipelines, electricity distribution lines, storerooms and temporary waste storage facilities may be required. The photovoltaic plant will consist of the following components: A solar field of photovoltaic panels (11 Ha) An inverter system A transformer system An energy storage facility CCTV poles; and A transporter system.

PV technologies collect the energy carried by sunrays, absorbing the collected energy and converting it straight to electricity. This conversion process is made possible through the use of the PV modules. This plant will be designed to supply merchant power into the electricity grid. Investments and Economy enhancement Investments on solar energy will eventually begin to rise after the erection of this farm, enterprises that maintain and clean the solar modules and also install them would be established. These will be in the Mochudi area or the greater Kgatleng, calls for employment will be made again.
