Explain your idea in details:
One of the biggest problems both in Kenya and Africa as a whole is the availability of quality health-care, and it is this problem we aim to solve through our app.Our app will make healthcare available even to the less advantaged in rural areas through our various offices/pharmacies set up.It will ease booking of appointments with specialist doctors. It will also reduce the cost of traveling abroad to treat minor cases which can be treated at the comfort of home, by connecting with doctors abroad through the video call feature. We also aim to increase innovation in the field of medicine through medical congresses which we will be arranging. Our web portal will offer an unparalleled source of information on the field of medicine, for effective research on knowledge from the most qualified health professionals around the world. The online forum will enable doctors to have an online forum for conversations on nagging health issues and help doctors find cures to new diseases. Our app aims to take the field of medicine onto a whole technological level, in line with the current changing market which undermines the manual way of doing things. Our idea applies our knowledge on computer programming language and the issues facing the health sector. It is the first of its kind.
Expected impact of your idea on sustainable development
We have a financial plan in place clearly outlining our goals within the first five years. These include the number of users we expect to have signed into our app, both doctors and patients, and the ratio in which they will do so.This targets if achieved will give a certain amount of profits by the end of these year.We will therefore use these figures to determine the success of our app, the acceptance it gets in the market and its potential for growth in the subsequent years.Health though is an unpredictable thing when it comes to humans, hence the number of patients may be very low, moderate or very high;therefore we have created financial forecasts to cater for all situations. The success of our company will also largely depend on how fast we can kick start other projects such as insurance in our app, the creation of a mobile transaction platform, and more importantly the setting up of our pharmacies in rural areas. All this if achieved by the fifth year will be a major success for us. The signing up of doctors will be pivotal to the working of our app, as only they can offer the proper treatment services which our app entails.A qualification will be required for the doctor to register onto our app.We aim to sign up all 5700 registered doctors within Kenya possibly within the first five years, their age group not withstanding as we realize perfectly well the presence of young doctors in our country, but we trust their experience will be sufficient. For the other users, an age restriction will have to apply. We are targeting to sign up only people above the age of 18, which is the legal adult age in our country. The insurance will also be able to accommodate other dependents through the family package.
Plans for implementation and sustainability
The signing up of doctors will be pivotal to the working of our app, as only they can offer the proper treatment services which our app entails.A qualification will be required for the doctor to register onto our app.The rest of the users will be the patients. Our income will mainly depend on four major earning points;Commissions,Advertisement portal,Insurance,Shopping portal,Mobile transaction. The income will mainly be gotten through commissions, either in form of fixed amounts or percentages from money paid to the doctors. Say a commission of 10% is deducted. The minimum consultation fee, according to our estimates will be as low as 5$. 10% of 5$ is 0.5$ on average, from every treatment session. In our first year it is projected the total number of doctors registered onto our app is 1500. Say each doctor has a minimum of 5 patients a day. This will give a sum total of 3,750$ a day, 112,500$ a month, and 135,000$ a year. For the advertisement portal a fee will be charged for medicine companies to advertise their new products through our app.A user who doesn't want to view the ads popping up in the application pays a small fee to disable the ads on the app.Our app will be the one-stop shop for medicinal products, through our shopping portal. In future we aim to charter with the World Health Organization (WHO) to provide relief food and better health care to marginalized areas.
