The Shop - Online platform for good products
Explain your idea in details:
The main task of the platform is to provide interested customers with reliable products that make ecological, economic and social sense. To this end, the platform works together with selected suppliers who meet these standards. The standards are operationalized, measured and audited. Customers can compile their favourite products individually via subscriptions so that they regularly receive the consumer goods of their choice. Due to the larger delivery quantities, better shipping conditions are achieved for the customer than would ever be possible for a single supplier. Transparency is very important on the platform, therefore every customer gets a full overview which data about him is collected and how, for example, personalized advertising is created, so that the customer can build real trust in the platform and the providers. Technically, the order is represented via an online shop system that gives each provider as much freedom as possible to present their product correctly. The platform is mobile, APP functionality is aimed for. The platform will start with easily tradable goods, such as packaged tea, detergents, beverages, toys, olive oil, etc. As the platform grows, goods such as food can be added that require more sophisticated logistics. But no matter how the platform develops, every product and service offered must make ecological, economic and social sense. The platform will generate as much response as no single provider could ever, thanks to clever segmentation, good customer service, search engine optimization and the bundling of customers and providers. Because my vision is that the "intelligent economy" with its many providers will finally get the voice in the market that it deserves.
Expected impact of your idea on sustainable development
The aim of "The Shop" is to offer only products that have proven themselves ecologically, economically and socially and can therefore be regarded as actually sustainable. A product can be described as ecological if, for example, unnecessary transport routes are avoided during production, storage is reduced, intermediate packaging is saved and overall attention is paid to the "ecological footprint". It is ideal if suppliers pursue "cradle to cradle" approaches in the spirit of Michael Braungart. Economically means the intelligent saving of unnecessary intermediate stages of retail and production in order to use existing resources sparingly. The sensible reduction of costs can keep prices low, so that the disadvantage of people with low incomes is reduced. The social dimension also requires all products to be manufactured and traded under fair working conditions. All three upper dimensions are operationalized on a scale of 1 - 10, so that customers and suppliers get a quick overview of the assessment of the respective product. 1 stands for a bad assessment, 10 is the dream state regarding ecology, economy or social behaviour. To be listed on the platform, a supplier must achieve at least a 7 with his product in all three dimensions. The results of the scales are checked at regular intervals and adjusted if necessary. Based on his results, the supplier receives a certificate from the platform, with which he can then freely advertise. In addition to the numerical feedback, the supplier also receives detailed qualitative feedback that helps him to further develop his product. In the end, a real win-win situation should be created between customers, online platform, suppliers, environmental protection and society.
Plans for implementation and sustainability
My business model has two phases: In the start-up phase, the online-platform collects fixed contributions from suppliers to finance the start-up activities (e.g. generating attention, setting up logistics and IT infrastructure, etc.). In the growth phase, the platform will then switch to a revenue share in order to realize further growth in line with customer enthusiasm, which will then lead to corresponding volume increases at the suppliers. In order to keep financing requirements low, the platform will rely on professional and intelligent components with regard to web shop, web design, logistics, accounting, etc.
In my professional life to date I have worked both in a medium-sized company with several thousand employees and in an SME with 20 employees. Since studying business administration, my focus has been on "organizational development", "change projects", "business model development", "project management" and "marketing". After years as an employee I would like to start my own project together with good partners. What particularly appeals to me about the role of the entrepreneur is the opportunity to design freely and creatively. I'm 30 years old.
