Great idea. I have some question, need we have battery to store the energy?
Because when we using water via pipe, it will not always open, we close/open the pipe when using water that may not enough energy to consume yet.
And another question can we use smaller pipe?

I have been very happy and challenged in this great competition and have developed a lot of things in my idea where I also found:
The population growth rate in Jordan in the last six years (2011-2016) increased by 6.67% and electricity demand increased by 6.4% annually and the price increased significantly since 2011 ,and to provide the needs for electricity, diesel and natural gas are mainly used to generate electricity in Jordan and 44.4% of the production of carbon dioxide from electricity generation and electricity generation from renewable energy increased in 2016, so we are fabricate a device to generate electricity from wasted kinetic energy of water flow inside the pipes lines in Jordan from 3.5/3.7/4-79 inch that the water flow depend on gravity in a thousands of kilometers of water pipes network.

Dear all! My proposal is all about education to citizenship, about personal development, fighting against corruption, rational consumption and production, protection of envirnoment by the code of commitment and regards towards justice, equity and peaceful environment. All those components make my project challenging and innovate. Combined with techonology, the mobil apps MORE is willing to bring change all around the world. This will not come true if we won't be committed and the efforts required. So, the change in mentality begins from you and I. I live in Jordan, one of the countries with large numbers of refugee camps, in my visit to one of the refugee camps located in a remote area of Jordan "al zaatari camp Jordan" and after seeing about their situation, I saw that the one most important needs for camp it's the electricity, where the food and water is provided faster than providing electricity. After searching for the main cause, the problem was the cost of transferring electricity from power stations and the methods of generating electricity, such as the use of solar cells or turbines have problems such as that they need extra space for the camp and additional equipment and also some areas of the camp closed is difficult to use cells or turbines and this situation similar to the situation of remote areas. So I started looking for new ways to generate electricity and solve these problems and found that one of the sources that can be used is the water pipes in the camp or remote areas, after 6 months of work on the design and experiments I invented a device to generate electricity from the movement of water inside the pipes, to help Refugee camps around the world and also remote areas mainly after research and found that the device can be used in many places that contain water pipes.

I enjoyed reading over our project, and it's cool to see that we are working not only to make the most of limited resources but also to improve the lives of refugees. Although Shan peoples (crossing the Myanmar-Thai Border) are "classified" as migrant workers rather than refugees, they are also struggling with limited resources, namely safe drinking water. I am working on an idea to produce and sell hand-held ceramic water filters, and I would really appreciate your thoughts on my water purification device. Is an excellent idea especially in increasing food production in arid and semi-arid communities by 10% per year after the initialization of work.

I live in Jordan, one of the countries with large numbers of refugee camps, in my visit to one of the refugee camps located in a remote area of Jordan "al zaatari camp Jordan" and after seeing about their situation, I saw that the one most important needs for camp it's the electricity, where the food and water is provided faster than providing electricity. After searching for the main cause, the problem was the cost of transferring electricity from power stations and the methods of generating electricity, such as the use of solar cells or turbines have problems such as that they need extra space for the camp and additional equipment and also some areas of the camp closed is difficult to use cells or turbines and this situation similar to the situation of remote areas. So I started looking for new ways to generate electricity and solve these problems and found that one of the sources that can be used is the water pipes in the camp or remote areas, after 6 months of work on the design and experiments I invented a device to generate electricity from the movement of water inside the pipes, to help Refugee camps around the world and also remote areas mainly after research and found that the device can be used in many places that contain water pipes.

This is a good innovation, a reliable power source as been on of the major problems facing some part of the world. The alternative people are using to compliment this electricity problem are not Eco-friendly, we need something better. This is a great idea once again.

Yes, of course, the device can be used in any place that have pipes for transfer fluids ( water ) and according to the diameter of each pipe and I work on the development of the design to be used for the tubes of less than 3.5 inch, the device is used:
- On the pipes that the flow depends on gravity.
- On the pipes that depend on the flow on the pumps but have additional energy due to gravity, causing the breakage or explosion of the pipes and the disposal of this additional energy by the use of devices on the pipes , this extra energy can be converted to electricity and reduce the incidence of fracture or explosion in pipes.
- On pipes that have the flow energy is higher than the level required to transfer water from one area to another.

All of us are working very hard to make our porject/ideas finalist.. We are wasting a lot of our time, money and labor. But my point is, what are we going to be rewarded?? Are we even going to be invited to Berlin? Are the organizers going to bear any of our travel/accomodation/event expense? All these questions came to my mind because I came to know that the previous winners were given literally nothing, other than an online certificate. - The Working principle :
- Generating electricity from water flow inside the pipes.
- Converting kinetic energy into electrical energy.
- Using a design resembling the turbine inside the device and revolves by the movement of water in the pipes.
- Use of magnetic induction ( and can be use other methods that lowest cost).

- The use principle:
-Direct installation on the pipe line as part of the pipe.

I would like to ask you a question and you will know the answer to your question from your reply, There are thousands of kilometers of plastic pipes in the world to transport water. You can search for these pipes in your country India.
Is it possible that all engineers and companies responsible for plastic pipes did not think about this ?!
My friend :) , I am a material engineer and a specialist Polymer Science (Plastic).
Plastic is considered a elastic material. Also, there is no friction between the surface of the water and the surface of the plastic pipe ! this is wrong information ! because the surface of the plastic pipes is smooth and the water is fluid ! how is there friction?
Plastic is not oxidized and is not corroded by water such as iron pipes that leave a small piece of oxidized iron which causes many problems for this plastic has been used instead of iron pipes, your question is outside the subject of my idea
but a very good question . The water inside the pipes is filtered so that there are no solid impurities even if there is a solid particles / impurities and impact in the surface of the plastic pipe it will be leave a trace or indentation but do not break the plastic.

Are companies or people targeted by your idea? ) and when collect feedback and answers then can be calculate and measuring percentage of similar and not similar answers to each other about whether the idea done by team or individual. This feedback and answers provides a very important answer to the success rate of ideas that may be individual work or group work. This This information increases the strength of my idea by working on weaknesses and strengthening them, and how to get support or other ways to get funding, and with these answers increases my understanding of how the entrepreneur works and also learns from them.
f you do a study or search by questions! It is impossible to do a research or study and to ask different questions to people should the questions unified, constant and similar ( Information form ) !
The reason for the study and research is:
1.Clarify your strengths.
2.Clarification of any additional useful targets or points reached during the course of the work.
3.Clarify the ways in which it can be taught to offer something new or something useful in a field.
4.Clarify whether there are any points that can be used in other aspects or in other areas.

The device is considered as a piece of the pipes and this is one of its features.
According to preliminary calculations and experiences, the device produces 600 watts to 1 kW for the 3.5/3.7 inch diameter at a flow velocity of 100-131 L/S and the pressure that the device holds depends on the diameter of the pipes.
It is of course applicable to power generation in MW, but when some parts are developed and the material is modified to withstand a higher voltage.
The device can be used on sewage pipes, but on pipes that separate the sewage of at least the large solids, the surface of the device in the case of sewage pipes covered with a special layer that prevents adhesion.

The device is made of 60% -70% of plastic, and If the device damaged will not harm the environment and can be recycled again, if the device faces any kind of problem then we have root cause analysis plan to fix the problem with the help of workers specialised in the pipeline. But in general, any problem with the device can be fixed simply and does not require much effort.

I have read your project. From description, your project looks like efficient. It's good that you are using recycled plastic for your device.

Yes, of course, the device is used to generate electricity from fluids flow inside the pipes, such as the water flow inside the pipes, the principle of this device or any device that generates electricity from motion (movement/flow of water, air, etc ..) is the scientific basis " Transform kinetic energy into electrical energy ", but this does not means that the principle of the work of the device and design is the same in generating electricity from water flow in the rivers where the principle of working in how to convert kinetic energy to electrical, absolutely different in the design and rotational principle of any device, because the movement of water in the pipes is different from the movement of water in the rivers, so we can not compare them especially my target is water pipes. However, if there are areas that do not have water pipes but have a channels of water from rivers or rain or any water channel, we can use the device to generate electricity from this source, but to collect water inside the tube or pipe and then connection to the device. The water debit required from any channels depends on certain conditions that provide the amount of electricity output suitable for use.

I read here about your idea and got the key point : you want to get electricity through the water flow, through the water pipeline. This means the principle is like the flow of electricity generated from the flow of a flowing river (kinetic-electric). And the equipment used is using plastic waste. I want to ask you here is to generate electricity, needed flowing water flow to move the turbine, so that the kinetic motion of water can produce electricity. What is the minimum water debit required? because not all water channels have a large enough water discharge.

Yes, I have done some experiments and calculations with doctors specializing in energy engineering, electrical engineering and fluid engineering to calculate the efficiency of the device, but we have not finished manufacturing the final model within the specifications and industrial quality standards.
The amount of electricity generation depends on the rotation and rotation depends on the speed of flow so the work of the initial tests easy before complete the manufacturing final model. And yes of course using this device in the third world countries contribute to solving a very important problem.

The efficiency of the system for example for the 3.7-inch single device , produces twice the solar cell by 600 watts to 1 kW twice the solar cell output. The speed of the water flow is different from the pipe another, for example in Jordan the minimum flow rate of water in the pipes of water transfer is approximately 131. L / second it produces approximately 600 watts. Compared with the other methods, its efficiency is very good in production, maintenance, manufacturing, and useful life. It is also made of recycled plastic. And, yes of course will be affordable to ordinary people and the rich, the device can be operated on fluid movement not only water and soon we will work on design and development the device to operate on air in certain areas.
We do not directly target areas containing rivers, streams or seas,In my country of Jordan and specifically in my village we do not have rivers or lakes or sea, the device is currently targeting any area in any country in the world containing water pipes or a network of water pipes from 3.5/3.7 inch - 79 inch , we are developing it to be used on pipelines less than that. And the use of the device is very simple.

Yes, the device is designed for pipes of high pressure and low pressure and is also efficient in load pressure and also does not cause a higher resistance pressure like a pressure turbine resistance because the design limits this problem.

Nice project Mr Shadi. But my question is how effective and efficient this device will be in terms of generating electricity and how many people will be able to purchase this device. Will it be affordable for the common man or only the rich and is it that it can only be operated in waters. How about areas where they dont have rivers or streams as the case may be. How will they use it in such areas and are you only targeting your country if there are rivers or streams in your country, what of other countries where ther is hardly rainfall putting in consideration my country for example,there are sections of the country where there is little or no water at all during the dry season. Will it be difficult for them to operate this machine if they perhaps buy this your device.

It seems like it could help in the generation of power especially in the need of renewable , energy,but Im wondering this device is only designed for high pressure infrastructure pipelines or it could used to for normal pressure pipelines .

Yes, of course, one of the important things is to provide electricity, especially to remote areas and refugee camps.
The minimum diameter of the device is 3.5 inches - 3.7 inches but I am currently working on a new design less than this diameter to use in homes and small buildings.

Of course it is impressive how their young people actively engage in innovative ways of sustainability. In most countries of the third world, it is difficult to connect electricity to refugee camps, especially the cost of electricity transmission infrastructure, but food and water are provided quickly to them. Water is transferred to the camps through large tanks or plastic water pipes. Therefore, can be use the devic to generate electricity from this limited resources and can be found other ways.

Yes, the need for electricity increases day by day, and generating electricity is the most important challenge.
The structure of the device is made of plastic so it takes a very long time to corroded or influenced by environmental factors and the inner pieces are also saved inside.
Including the value of maintenance of the device or one of the inner piece of the device at the cost of remove and installation and replacement of the piece or the addition of the lube bearing. But in general the device does not need to be renewed only the front piece is cleaned if we have a large impurities inside the pipes,the cost of remove, installation and renewed around 5$ - 10$ . For the countries that lack to water resources we are looking to find basic sources of water transportation such as pipes or wells or marshes and work a simple project with pipes to transport water from and to the same place and take advantage of this process to generate electricity and we have many way to find out way to generate electricity.

But there are some questions that are roaming in my mind about your idea ,
Now what is the life expectancy of the pipes ? And what is the cost ( nearly) for renewing the parts of your invention at the long term? And how much it can help the countries with lack of water resources ?

In the refugee camps, water is provided through large reservoirs or by extending plastic water pipes and can generate electricity from these sources, and sometimes in winter some areas of the camps have the channels of drainage of rain away from the tents, so the device can be used in this case, especially in the narrow channels.
The number of generators we will place for 1 km pipes depend on the area and the location and also depends on the diameter ,pressure , speed flow in the pipe but the minimum 2-3 devices.

I haven't been in refugee camp (they do not exist in my country) and I wonder how the water system is done in refugee camps (is there even place where you can install it)? Thank you very much Frank George Mbwana, and this is a very good question, before using the device in a specific area of different nature we are working on a research or a simple study on the place of use and find the method and source for electricity generation, for example Tanzania, which you talked about:
 
1) Tanzania has a large freshwater lake, over 53,000 km, half of which is Lake Victoria, half a Lake Tanganyika, a section of Lake Malawi (formerly Niassa) and a number of small lakes.

2) Tanzania has the most important rivers in the world, notably the Rufoma River and its border with Mozambique, the Rufiji River, the Wami River and the Panjani River.

Electricity can be generated using the device directly in these rivers or lakes or in the channels of rivers or lakes or in the agricultural channels of rivers or lakes. It is also possible to work on a project to transfer water to remote areas by using plastic pipes that are low cost to use water (for drinking, etc.) and generating electricity from these pipelines. Let us not forget that the eastern border of Tanzania is located on the Indian Ocean, making it possible for make a project to generate electricity only through the use of pipelines.
This is just a simple example of how electricity can be generated using the device without the need for large areas, infrastructure, etc., and more importantly, lower costs such as the use of plastic pipes.

It seems your idea is good and great , i want to know how can be operated to desert area with no or low supply of water because most of the southern part of sahar example their facing this problem also to the area like Dodoma Tanzania were also their facing the same problem.

Currently I am working on the development of the device to be used directly in homes because there is a water tank and must take advantage of the energy movement of water from and to him and also does not need the device to additional equipment such as infrastructure like solar cells and also produces twice as much electricity produced from the cell There is no direct limitation to the development of the device but obtaining funding for the manufacture and testing of prototype models is a challenge for us.

It's good idea to make generating electricity more efficiency through your innovation and research. I don't know deeply about electricity but I had ever seen that one of electricity such as solar cell need more expensive tools and also need requires sufficient solar intensity to be able to use the product. That is difficult to develop in countries with little intensity of sunlight. What about the product you are currently developing? and what are the constraints for your product development?

but there are couple of queries in my mind
1- What's the efficiency of the system?
2- What should be the optimum speed(roughly) of water in pipes for constant electricity production?

It is a great idea to use the water flowing into the pipes to generate electricity and this saves space and cost ... I propose to integrate a system for refining the water used and converting it to usable water. This system depends on the energy generated by the water flow
