Summary of your idea
Many women, due to a lot of different events during their lifetime such as marriage, child-birth, health issues, death of partner and divorce, remain jobless for the rest of their life. But every woman in this world has skills and hobbies which remain undiscovered. They can use these skills to earn by selling their products online, matching their skills with the requirement, advertising some events and forming a community to join hands and help each other. It is a one platform which can empower women from different backgrounds and in different situations. IT IS A SKILL LOCATOR, A MARKET AND A COMMUNITY BUILDER.
Expected impact of your idea on sustainable development
There is no doubt that women rule the Internet and women employment remains lower in many parts of the world. Why not make use of the digital world to make some money. The project is to create a space online where the women enter their skills and hobbies such as baking, cooking, weaving, henna, stitching, make up, hair and so on. Based on the skills added, the member is notified of any event or activity in which she can use her skills to earn. She can also use her skills to contribute to an event for social cause such as baking for charity. Such a platform will allow women to form a network and earn through their skills, which sometimes remain unexplored. The other members can upload the details of events such as weddings, birthday parties, NGO events and exhibitions. It also provides women with opportunity to start up small-scale business online to sell products like baked items, clothes, etc and also to form a community to help each other. The product also will be 'one spot' on web world where women can sell anything from clothes to handmade earrings, an activity which seems presently to be distributed anywhere and everywhere on internet.
Plans for implementation and sustainability
I am a computer engineer myself and have friends from developer community which can support the development. I can fund some myself and the app development will not cost much with the right team. I will develop marketing strategies and find users initially from universities, event organizers, NGOs,friends, family and other sources. The app can be used on all platforms and would like to launch it in India. The mock-ups for the design will be generated at the initial stage by me and I will use them for development and for presenting the demo. The marketing of the tool can be done through other social media websites. The tool can generate revenues by advertisements of different kinds of products from different brands, which can range from cosmetics to electronic products such as an oven. The app will also be one-spot online where women can sell anything from clothes to handmade earrings, an activity which seems presently to be distributed anywhere and everywhere on internet. The app can be linked to several social media sites to share activity and grab users. The location and availability of the user will be tracked to help build a community and increase the network.
I am 23 years old social media enthusiast and a blogger. I am a Systems engineer by profession with keen interest in community service and sociaal entrepreneurship, I have been a fundraiser and community volunteer for several NGOs. I was brought in a multi-cultural environment of United Arab Emirates. I like travelling and speak several languages. I am also an enthusiastic Speaker. Being a woman myself,I understand how women, even today, require help and support to discover and use their skills which sometimes remain hidden and I would do anything to empower women. I have also been a bronze memeber for a leading volunteering (VolunteerinUAE) program. I have won an Award for Appreciation for volunteering a large number of hours.
