Summary of your idea

Just as any inelastic commodity such as sugar and milk, coconut has slowly or maybe it has ever been a subtle strong highly demanded commodity with a very good market on its own.we want to distribute and sell 5000 worth of coconut monthly for GHc1.20($0.40). i.e a total revenue of GHc6000($1997.01)a month from distributing coconut at various geographical area. The company is set up to sell large quantities of coconut in different geographical location. Coconut distribution will have a relatively high growth after its first month since most of its major expense are fixed assets and also due to the ease of expanding.

Expected impact of your idea on sustainable development

In developing countries especially in Africa, entrepreneurs need to believe in the concept of economies of scale since this is what this business is about. this idea is expected to lay a concrete foundation to help people invest in the informal sector since 70% of Africans are employed in that sector. from our feasibility studies and plan in the summary, coconut distribution is estimated Ghc72,000($23,964)in revenue annually.Due to coconut being a versatile fruit, the husk or coir is used in making car parts, roads, bags, carpets, coal and so on. profits accrued in the next 3 years will be used to fund employing and manufacturing those products.African entrepreneurs should look well into the informal sector, empower people to innovation and creating new form of business to solve unemployment.

Plans for implementation and sustainability

Coconut has quite a large market, for its versatile uses and health wise believes consumers demand for it every day and supply is constant. The market price for a coconut is (Ghc1.20,$0.40). Its been sold for (Ghc 0.35 per coconut,$0.12) or cumulatively (100 coconuts for Ghc35.00,$11.65). At a vantage point (commercial area) coconut distributors average or sell 100coconuts a day for 7 days in a week. (With opening stock of 150-200 coconuts a day).An initial capital of Ghc3,500($1164.92) is needed to begin the business.
