Summary of your idea

Jobegic (strategic jobs) is a professional-social network for empowering future leaders. It is a technology-driven movement for social and economic change to reinvigorate academic and professional discourse, raise awareness and hope for nations, business development, encourage dynamic enterprise, build resilient economies, sustainable environments, social engagement and community integration. Jobegic identified 6 drivers for sustainable and inclusive empowerment: Education, Employment, Entrepreneurship, Ecology, Economy, Events These 6Es have sub-categories that members can share and discuss content, socialise and connect with members from civil society, companies, governments, universities, and other institutions. Jobegic is a novel concept for the digital economy that helps people achieve their potential by empowering them so they can empower someone else in the future, thereby making the process self-fulfilling and perpetual in time. It is an innovative and scalable project with high social impact projections. Its simple: sign up, connect and engage with members from business, academic, community, government, and civil society. For example, students may chat with employers, entrepreneurs may meet investors and mentors or launch their startups, companies may connect with employees or look to hire them, governments may engage with the public, or members might want to share their latest projects and find clients too. Jobegic strives to address the growing youth unemployment crisis (over 75 million aged 16-24 unemployed globally, MENA being the worst affected) along with the social and economic implications associated with joblessness (depression, addiction, crime, poverty, protests, riots, etc). Jobegic drives knowledge-sharing and capacity-building through a procial platform Overall Jobegic aims to address issues related to sustainable social and economic development by connecting communities locally and globally through an integrated online platform.

What makes Jobegic so important and necessary today? To date, there is no procial hub for comprehensive human development Governments are cutting their budgets through austerity programs, no comprehensive policy frameworks or sufficient safety nets to offer support Stimulus packages are not targeting high impact strategic sectors effectively Resumes are becoming obsolete in a more globalized and competitive world Alternative education is on the rise, traditional education is unaligned with labor market needs Vocational and academic skills mismatch have serious social and economic implications Human resources require relevant industry specific skills, not enough training, internships, and apprenticeship programs The youth unemployment figures are higher than ever, worst in MENA region Entrepreneurship, mentorship, incubators, accelerators, and funding is needed for scalable startups and SMEs Natural resources are scarce, more investment and awareness in sustainability is needed Companies need to be more responsible through CSR activities and creating shared value Jobegics mission is to tackle global unemployment and underemployment : 100 million new jobs needed in the MENA region by 2020 202 million people unemployed worldwide 40% of youth are unemployed worldwide Global adult unemployment rate is 4.5%, global youth unemployment rate is 12.6% 75 million youth are unemployed worldwide 357.7 million youth are not in education, employment, or training (NEET) 16.7 million youth in developed countries are NEETs 341 million youth in developing countries are NEETs More than 200 million youth earn less than $2 per day What value does Jobegic provide? Jobegic connects a specific audience to share and discuss information on education, employment, entrepreneurship, ecology, and economic development. Members focus on engaging and enabling youth through support programs and initiatives. For example: Entrepreneurs can find mentors, funding, and incubators Students can search for scholarships or internships Employers can locate the right skills for the right jobs Governments can partner with the private sector to invest in infrastructure and sustainability projects Millions of unemployed can find technical and vocational training to become productive citizens The ultimate outcome is maximum social impact for everyone.

Plans for implementation and sustainability

We plan to make Jobegic a form of government policy, corporate strategy, and institutional management. This is a new concept for collective impact and collaborative value creation so we intend to publish articles, books, and work on commissioned reports and consultations with clients.

Your profile

My name is Mohamad Kassem, born in Lebanon, raised in the United Arab Emirates, 30 years old. I have a BA in International Relations (American University of Sharjah, UAE), MA in Economic and Governmental Reform (University of Westminster, UK), and a PhD candidate in Cross-Cultural Complex Project Management (Humboldt University, Berlin, Germany). My career has been in government where I worked at the General Secretariat of The Executive Council of the Government of Dubai, and now at the Ministry of Finance of the UAE Government. My idea t create Jobegic came after the revolutionary uprisings in the Arab world, followed by the USA, Greece, Spain, Italy, France, Turkey, Brazil, and currently Ukraine, Venezuela, and Syria (among others). In addition to my own personal experience with an unemployed younger brother and a father who was forced to retire. These disparities in the system have been deeply frustrating for me, and I was determined to do something about it, so Jobegic was born.
