Summary of your idea
Teach indigenous and poor people in Guatemala how to eat a healthy diet and provide them with healthy food they are not used to eating. Guatemalan people suffer from malnutrition since they are not aware they are already in possesion of nutritious foods from their crops. Provide food and resources through the profits of my start up company Vita Juice Bar, an all natural health food company. Teach poor people that instead of selling all their crops and spend 20 cents on junk food, they can lead a better and healthier life. Feed Guatemalas children and fight malnutrition in my country.
Expected impact of your idea on sustainable development
This targets both rural communities in Guatemala, and shelters and public hospitals in Guatemala city, measuring success rate by visiting these communities and public entities weekly until we can see they have adapted to this healthy lifestyle fot them and their children. Each time we visit, provide them with fruits and vegetables as well as teaching them each of their benefits. Teaching them the difference between junk food and healthy food and the importance of esting well.
Plans for implementation and sustainability
Vita juice bar is run by only one person which is I the creator and founder. I finance my own costs and sales are enough for a small profit.
Im a 25 year old woman who has been blessed in life, but have also seen the poor conditions that many have to live in. As an ED recovered patient, I have become more aware of the intensity in which people develop this disorder and how it dificult to remind people that outer image is not what is important. At the same time, as some strugle with this balance in their lives, kids in Guatemala grow up without knowing what good nutrition is, or even have the chance to eat well at all. I feel the need to help both privileged and underprivileged people around me and help them understand what good nutrition can do to their body and mind.
