Summary of your idea

District.com.gh is a web application that provides a convenient platform for Ghanaian citizens to track developments in their various districts and also compare performance between two districts. This idea seeks to improve transparency in local governance in the country as well as bring competition among the districts which will lead to rapid development in the local areas.

Expected impact of your idea on sustainable development

District.com.gh targets the various governmental agencies in the country. By collating all these developmental data and representing it in a manner accessible and understood by many Ghanaians, it hopes to bring more community discourse about the rate of growth in the various districts. The rate of success of this idea will be determined by how many people make use of the platform and/or make references to data on it.

Plans for implementation and sustainability

I hope to build this project myself. As a software developer, I have the competence and technical know how to carry out this project. However, I plan to seek financial support from some developmental partners or transparency organizations in the country. District.com.gh will continue to operate on revenue from sale of developmental data to NGOs and agencies that need them. Also, revenue will be generated from advertisements by institutions in these districts.
