Summary of your idea
To develop quality tutorials based on effective supervision and a broad, balanced and challenging curriculum with purposeful emphasis on acquisition of sports skills and creating a conducive standard training environment and supporting individual study needs of student-players. Ours will be the first multi sports initiative in Nigeria. The five categories of sports activities will be; (i) Soccer (ii) Basketball (iii) Long Tennis (iv) Table Tennis (v) Track/Field. I will identify four challenges faced by Youth sports in Nigeria as poverty, age fraud, lack of facilities, and illiteracy. It is observed that most youth players are school drop-outs whose parents can no longer afford tuition fees for them. They take up sports as a way to engage and or occur themselves. On the part of age fraud, a lot of athletes want a longer career span in sports therefore reduce their ages to remain relevant denying other youths in the right age the privilege. Some youths consider education a burden which results to a high level of illiteracy. Due to low level of sponsorship resulting into inadequate facilities and equipment needed for the games and I strongly believe that this initiative approach will develop youth in rural areas.
Expected impact of your idea on sustainable development
Our targets are youths both in rural areas and urban areas between age 5 to 25. We will also target primary and secondary schools, sport academy, sport clubs, and Government teams. According to World Bank statistics released in 2007, seventy million Nigerians are unemployed of which majority are youths. In another report by World Bank and DFID, unemployment amongst youths between the ages of 15-29 years of age is above 60%. A recent report suggests that 65% of the total Nigerian population is between the ages 0 25; therefore any commercial pursuit aimed at this segment of the population will surely hit the mark provided it is well planned and projected like new Quadrex Sports Initiative to be established. We will empower them through National teams, Nigeria sport leagues and International leagues.
Plans for implementation and sustainability
This Project created a platform for sponsorship for individuals, Corporate Organisations, even some Non Governmental Organisations at giving mileages through the media and provided them the opportunity at widening their developmental services and corporate-social responsibilities through the Sport Projects. Branding of equipment, Our competitions, Hiring our facilities for sporting events and training fee and scholarship for less privilege. Our partnership with them will facilitate financing source.
