As indoor security is of utmost importance for keeping buildings safe, research in designing and controlling intelligent security robots has gained a momentum over the last years. Herein, I present my robot ISRAS; an intelligent system for indoor surveillance which sends an alert notification to the user's mobile whenever new people or new events are detected. The robot is controlled to move in 4 different directions (Forward, backward, left, right) while avoiding obstacles. A support vector machine (SVM) is used for image recognition and classification. LibSVM was chosen for the SVM implementation as it uses the one-against-one approach for multi-class learning problems. This work provides a proof of concept for: **A successful design and control of an indoor surveillance security robot. **A successful implementation of an intelligent machine learning algorithm for image (face) recognition.
Impact of your enterprise on sustainable development
By supervising nuclear reactors and keeping an eye on any sudden leak or risk that may happen at any time, ISRAS will replace humans in the role of surveillance and will provide much more accuracy on saving not only the environment but also people who live around. That's only one of many tasks that this robot can accomplish. In fact, it can be also used to manage small power units and to track people thanks to its incredible features : Live video streaming with object tracking. Besides, after being tested several times, this robot has shown a great potential towards the filed of security and management. Finally, robots have skills such as strength, precision and sensing often surpassing those of humans. These skills allow the production of useful goods or services and has a great impact on sustainable development.
Sustainability and future plans
As for the moment, I don't have any financing source but with some sacrifices I was able to cover the expenses of creating my new robot : ISRAS. The parts which I used are : external camera; Raspberry Pi 3, H bridge circuit and some of AI algorithms for the software. Now, I'm planning to improve the software part by increasing the precision of the algorithms and also by implementing new AI techniques such as Reinforcement Learning to make the robot able to move independently. I also intend to buy a new chassis for the robot to improve its outside looking.
Your profile as an entrepreneur
I'm a 17 year old student, passionate about technology and especially robotics and AI. I started coding at the age of 15 and the my hello world program was written in python. Some months after, I was able to participate in competitive programming contests and write a lot of code(github link below). The often say that the beginning is the hardest part and that exactly what I suffered from. I have to admit it, without determination and hard work I wouldn't make it. Now, I went from writing simple programs to solve math problems to writing algorithms to solve real world problems related to AI. I always wanted to become one day machine learning engineer and now I'm trying my best to fulfill my dream. Recently, I won the first national prize in robotics : A very prestigious certificate that will add a lot of value to my small CV. I want to say that whatever will happen to me and although all the problems and obstacles, I'll be there to make my dream come true and to draw a smile on the face of everyone that supported me and believed in me.
